Good Video, Just installed mine on Hobie PA14, I also used my tug wheels, I set it up so set screws were facing rear. easy to inspect and tighten if needed.
I just installed the groovy landing gear on my kayak and I'm having trouble inserting and removing one of the wheel legs in and from the knuckle. The other side takes a little bit of wiggling but for the most part works pretty smoothly. Seems like something is misshaped and binding. Unfortunately it puts a lot of stress on the hull when trying to insert and remove the wheel leg.
Did you get this issue fixed? I'm having the same issue.... I contacted Boonedox they sent me some more legs but I'm still having the same problem with one side.
Sweet...great job...very informative...picking up my new bigwater pdl in a couple days....you just sold me on the groovy ..thanks.....they should have you make the same video for their website, add in use demo!
I am about to mount my boondox on my Hobie Outback 2018. The Hobie is probably narrower than your kayak. How would I determine if I have to cut the center bar and how much off?
That's because it doesn't mount to gear tracks on all yaks...but they include backing plates ...but yeah, for the price point, they should throw in four track bolts!
@@smileycamel5635 I fortunately had quite a supply of nuts 'n' bolts, washers etc. on hand. (cut them to exact length), and all turned out well in the end result after about an hour's extra time involved. The set up works great. Just waiting till mountain snows melt to get back out there and go kayak fishing.
I'm deciding between a Titan 12 or a Hobie Outback and while I really want the Hobie, I gotta say, I feel a lot better about Native supporting these being mounted to the rails instead of drilling into a brand new $2800+ boat
If you’re more concerned about hauling proficiency than shallow water fishing proficiency the Titan with hull warranty and no drilling is your only smart selection otherwise would chose OB and scupper or Wilderness Systems Cart.
Slick install of the new groovy landing gear. While I was watching I noticed you have the berley pro steering upgrade. I feel like your install might be wrong. We only used one hole on the rear of my plate and have both cables routed through that. Mine is installed on a slayer 13, but it should be the same.
I've been trying to get a set of the plastic gussets from Boonedox, but they have not replied to my 4 Emails to buy them . . . do you know if they are available for sale?
What holds the wheels on while youre using them? The bungee strap? Seems a bit cheap? I do alot of kayak camping and pull my boat loaded with gear in some pretty rough terrain. The C tug sucks! Comes off way too easy. But I understand its meant for a beach nice and flat. Im going up and down hills. Launching and landing in some places that arent meant to travel. I just ordered the native wheel system but its on back order. Of course I found this as soon as I pressed "buy". thx
nothing really, they stay in place and do not wiggle out during transport. i drive maybe 2.5 hrs max one way to the lake and I stopped using the bungee strap completely
I have been considering the titan 12 with the boonedox landing gear. One of my concerns is damaging the rudder when loading and unloading the kayak from my truck. There are too many videos that are skipping important details to me when unloading and loading. Its like a magic act, it's on the truck then the video skips to the water. There are so many surfaces, some level and some not. The rudder can't be flipped up on the titan 12. In addition, during transport or loading/unloading, unlevel ground can cause stress to the kayak's track system. So can somebody please make a video showing the COMPLETE process of unloading your titan 12 from truck to water on various surfaces without causing damage to either your rudder, track system, or kayak. Perhaps. the rudder can be moved to the side. Perhaps there is a product out there like the hobie unloader, but one made for the native watercraft series........ A DETAILED COMPLETE video process on various surfaces from loading to unloading including transport from the truck to the water would be appreciated...........Thank You
So if I'm doing a fresh install on a new boat what additional hardware should I be getting that isn't included in the kit? My kit is being delivered tomorrow.
If you are planning to mount it on your gear tracks you will need the TBolts. The yak attack t bolt 6 pack has all the hardware u need. All the other boats, all the hardware is included.
@@MOBBINOutdoors Jeez, that kinda pisses me off. I wish I knew that so I could've ordered them at the same time I ordered the kit. So by TBolts I'm assuming you mean the MightyBolt set? They have 3 different size sets, 1", 1.5" and 2". Which size do I need?

They aren't as heavy duty as the original ones bro. I was going to put them on but since I have the torqeedo I stayed with the original boondox wheels. 👍
@@MOBBINOutdoors Hello Sir, i like your style, very nice in deed. I hope I am not troubling to ask you this simple question. Is this unit the same as today or has it been modified. Your wheels look very much different to what I see in the current kit. Also is the center rod the same? Thanks so much!
@@jimdou4617 hi there, no the kit is not the same. Each kit has different mounting styles and center bars. Check on the boondox website for the kit options. Also want to add that the wheels are now upgraded to the C-Tug wheels. They are much easier to roll with an they do not float. This helps removing the wheels while the boat is in the water
@@MOBBINOutdoors Hi, thank you for the quick reply. I asked this video with tremendous interest for one I already thought you had a good landing system before and so was trying to understand what attribute on the new landing system was the driver. Watching, I learned that the center rod you installed had a gear track on it which I agree would be very nice. When you did your unboxing, I could read on the side of the box, the descriptor "Standard" but when I looked at it on their website, I couldn't tell if the center rod still had the gear track and also I mentioned the differences in the tires. I went to their website again and there are two options listed for the titan. The standard and the track kit. If you can help me with your comments, I would most appreciate it Regards,
@@MOBBINOutdoors man I'm having issues. Bought the boonedox landing gear HD wanting to install in the gear tracks on my 13.5 titan. I bought the gear track conversion kit as well which boonedox told me I needed and nothing seems to be going together as it should. Where your little L brackets attach to the knuckle and screw into the landing gear base, the l bracket in the kit are wider and there is a gap underneath the L bracket and gear track. I don't know if that makes sense to you but it's just not going together right. Instructions from boonedox are clear as mud
The product is good, although it's extremely difficult to install. The problem is that the people at this company are AWFUL to customers. I ordered a small box of bolts and knuckle hardware from them. The first problem was that they charged $43 to ship a small box from North Carolina to my house in CT. That's absurd. The next issue is that when I needed to return a couple of the parts, my email to customer service was ignored for a week. When they finally did reply, this is what I was told: "To be honest I would try to sell what you do not need because I am going to explain our return policy. You send back the parts that you do not need and once they arrive we inspect them; upon inspection we issue a refund of the product price minus a $25.00 restocking fee" So yeah - good product, but terrible to install, and the company doesn't seem to care about the customers. I'd buy something else if I could do it all again.
