I just bought a Old Town 120 AP a few days ago and everyone I asked said there wasnt any landing gear for them, even though other heavy (heavier) kayakays have them. I know this video been up awhile, is it still working for you and no issues?
Thanks for this video. Few questions for ya: - Did you order the landing gear that has the Hobie PA hardware? The hobie hardware has the 9" backing plate and the other kit has the 7" backing plate. - Are you strictly going over smooth terrain with the landing gear? - Are you able to turn around and deploy the landing gear while you are in the kayak getting ready to land at the boat ramp? Thanks!!
I ordered the HD Kit from Delaware Paddlesports I think they are the 9 inch but the might be 7 inch. As far as deploying, I can deploy and retract the landing gear down from the seat. I pull it through all types of terrain within reason always try to avoid really rough terrain if possible.
@@BlueSummitOutdoors So I got it and am laying it out on my 120 how you did. On the inside of my brackets the space between the bracket and the kayak is huge, about 1/4 inch. Is this what you found as well or did your brackets lay flat?
Do you have a video of you launching your boat and then bring it back in and using Theboonedox. I would like to see it in use going from the truck to into the water and then vice versa thanks
I don’t and I sold the autopilot a couple months back. But it was super easy to launch and recover with the Boonedox. It is the same exact process on any kayak that has a Boonedox so no worries there.
Yea I was able to reach it. However you can look up some Hobie PA/Outback installs where they use a rope or clothes hanger to hold it in place when they can’t reach it from the inside of the hull.

I don’t have it anymore. I used it for 2 years without issues though.
Great video, still no issues?
Don’t own it anymore, however I had no issues in the 2 years I owned it.
So did you take the backing plate and lay it on top of the kayak to mark the holes to be drilled ?
Yup!
Back again... Thanks great vid.
What sand tires are you using
I got them from boonedox. They are wheeleez brand I believe.
I so needed this video. Gave me the confidence to go for the install.
Did you ever get your motor fixed or did it keep breaking?
Old Town replaced the motor with a new one and I sold the autopilot a few months after that.
Thanks for this video.

Mine laid flat as far as I know.

@@BlueSummitOutdoors ok what did you get for your new kayak
Hobie Lynx just wanted to try something super light
Any issues with it as of late ?
Had more issues with the motor than I ever did the Boonedox Landing Gear
heck yeah!! thanks brother for answering my email and then posting this!!! rock on tight lines!!!
No problem!
Well thought out and very functional, great job!
BTW, I also have the Boonedox Landing Gear installed on my Old Town Sportsman AutoPilot 120.
Do you plan on installing these on your 106 MK?
Not as of right now
What sand wheels did you get to fit ??
why didnt you use the track system to mount the boondox?
The track system is not reinforced with a backing plate and would just pull out.
@@BlueSummitOutdoors nice work, man. I just purchased my landing gear. I will be definitely using your video for my setup. Thanks!
dude, how did you get your bolts and the backing plate on? i counlt reach back that far. :/
