Real nice . Mine is not as nice , but nice enough. I put a trolling motor on my kayak about 3 years ago . I wish I had put it on in 2016 when I bought my lure . I use the trolling motor a lot , especially after adding the downrigger . I thought about peddle drive , but I have had bad knees and hips forever .
Can you do a video utilizing the rear seat? I would love to see how stable it is on the water before I purchase one. With the second person how much power reduction do you experience with your kayak now? I’m sure it affects speed and battery life. Love the idea of the second seat.
Really sweet! I like that downrigger mounting plate. I have never seen that before and it really looks solid. I have never tried a down rigger before because I did not want to deal with something that was difficult to get off and on and perhaps stressful on the Hobie tracks. That little v-lock mount is great since it really takes up no room if you don't have the downrigger attached. You have me thinking about it now!
Nice build! I did a similar setup for lights and power distribution. Just wish that controller was available back then so I didn't have to drill a 2 1/4" hole. Just bought those rod holders thru your link. Thanks for the discount code.
How would the 2nd seat addition work in choppy water? I fish with my 12 year old boy and was wondering if this would be a legit option for all usable conditions until he’s old enough to handle his own boat. Maybe get the 136? He’s 130 pounds and growing, I’m around 175. Thanks and love the videos!
It would be awesome if you did a video on how the moon affects salmon fishing, specifically kokanee. There's a lot of opinions on it but with your ecology background and experience, your thoughts would bring a lot of value. I love how clean the kayak wiring is and your videos are very helpful!
Awesome setup man! Found your channel a little over a year ago and have really enjoyed it. Ordered a coffee mug and can’t wait to get it! Cheers friend
We just demoed the tandem Oasis from Hobie yesterday and it was our first time being in a kayak. Is there any tandem pedal kayak that you would recommend over Oasis? We will use it just in Pacific Ocean mostly in LA area.
Honest question: why do you need that white Minn Kota 1866680 i-Pilot Heading Sensor Spot-Lock BT ? I thought the Oldtown Ipilot comes already with spotlock feature. I'm a bit confused. Can you clarify please.
One of these is going to be in the very near future. I have a question about he puck. How necessary is it? Are you able to move over the 5 feet increments without it? Primary use will be lake trout here in the PNW, not sure just how much electronics I'll really need. I have a bigger boat fully equipped with very recent electronics so I have a basic to intermediate understanding of chartplotters. Just what does the puck allow you to do that can't be done otherwise? Is it necessary in order to use a chartplotter? I imagine you're using your chartplotter for waypoints, where I plan to use this kayak is primarily high mountain lakes and maybe Willamette and possibly a sturgeon slay ride. Only time I really depend on waypoints is in open water and I don't plan to take this into the open water. I use a phone app for waypoints when I'm on other peoples boats, Boating by Navionics, very useful. Enjoy the vids, thanks.
@@spiltmilt while waiting for your response, I called Old Town, they said it's not linkable, but can do the jog thing, I'll call back to confirm, and that was Johnson Outdoors back east I called. Thanks for the quick response!
I have the same yak but blue , and it's hands Down the best kayak on the market , people see me out fishing in it and there just amazed at what the kayak is and can do . Also ur back seat mod ! Whaaaaaaaat haha , it's sick . What are the two pieces holding the rear seat in on the rail ? What they called / where can I buy them ? Also I have seen multiple diff weight ratings on this yak , would love to see u fill her with weights ( evenly ) to see how much she can hold before water starts coming above the scuppers .
Great set up video, Tyler! As someone just getting into kayak fishing I always enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your insight. I too am looking to add the two additional rear facing rod holders to my AP 120. I like the idea of being able to take out four rods without the need for rod holders on a crate. Did you run into any issues on the port side with the cables for the rudder? Anything that you had to account for when installing those that may be helpful to others wanting to add the rear facing rod holders as well?
Can you please post a link for the Navarre Kayak part that you used to replace the port side front rod holder for the fish finder mount. I can’t find it online. Thanks. Great looking kayak. My set up is evolving and you have some great ideas.
Hey Tyler. Great vid and I am looking at making some of the same updates. Wondering if the replacement prop is working out? I am putting together an emergency box with a spare prop, some extra pins, a spare kill switch, and some AAA batteries. I like the size of the prop in the video and would obviously like a bit more speed and efficiency.
Did you do the wiring yourself or did you get someone else to help you? I see some guys from another RUclips fishing channel are starting to follow in your footsteps, even down to the same company and model Kayak! :)
do you happen to have the dimensions of your HIN numbers? I know their 3" high, but how wide are they? And do you remember the spacing of the numbers. My print guy is asking me all these questions. I thought it was straight forward, but apparently not. Thanks .
I own the Old Town AutoPilot 120 and the 106 Powered by MinnKota. Fish the Columbia River and have never been given a ticket. I ask about getting a registered vessel permit and they told me I did not need one. I Fish from Pasco Wa down the Columbia to CascadeLocks and never had a problem with WildLife other than asking for Fishing License and Conversation about the kayaks. And if there is a law out there there definitely not enforcing it.
How positive are you that a registration is required in WA? I have gone to the WA licensing twice and have been told I didn't need it. but they could be wrong.
Not required if you are not fishing on Federal navigable waters but absolutely required if fishing Puget Sound, Columbia/Snake Rivers, Lake WA, Sammamish, Chelan and a whole bunch of other lakes.
I am fishing and they have told me numerous time that they can't even give it to me if they wanted to. I will check with them again. I don't want to get slapped with a ticket. Thanks.
I went through the same thing. They wouldn't do until I printed the requirements and showed them its the law. I also stopped calling it a kayak and told them it was 12' boat with a motor.
What size airplane prop did you get? There are multiple sizes on the link you posted. Also did you use the same hardware from old town to mount the prop? Great vid by the way but I'm sure my wife will be mad at you ! I'm gonna be spending a lot more money soon😜

Yes

Beast mode Tyler!
Honest question: why do you need that white Minn Kota 1866680 i-Pilot Heading Sensor Spot-Lock BT ? I thought the Oldtown Ipilot comes already with spotlock feature. I'm a bit confused. Can you clarify please.
The heading sensor gives you the ability to spot lock jog in 5’ in any direction. You don’t need it to spot lock.
The sea deck looks great! Which company did you go with to get that done?
Sea deck!
Did you use the long insert or the standard insert for your V-lock?
I recommend the long inserts it gives you a little more flexibility in mounting locations.

I have this. Hope this helps ruclips.net/video/3_GODLJ-cOI/видео.html

Without the puck you cannot spot lock jog. The motor is not networkable so it cannot be tied into your fishfinder

If you take that into the ocean or bays, so you scrub everything down when you get home? Or rinse it? Or don’t worry about it?
Rinse after every saltwater trip and most freshwater trips. The motor is saltwater rated and all of my hardware is aluminum or stainless steel.
Happy I found your channel. Great videos! I watched best battery video and you chose Amped and in this video you mentioned Rebel. Why the change?
I transitioned because I really liked being able to monitor battery health and use on Bluetooth.
