- Well Its finally here the first big restoration project for the Really Random Channel :).
The item in question is a 1979 Honda C90 motorcycle , scooter, moped or whatever else you want to class it as lol. It was a barn find that has been sitting off the road for years and when i got the chance to buy it i snapped it up.
From the initial inspection it didn't look to bad but tearing it down uncovered a series of areas that will need rectification work if i want to get this back to factory fresh.
The plan is to go thorough the bike methodically restoring, replacing and fabrication as need be to make this one of the best restored c90's out there and as you can probably tell from my other videos the finish will be second to none ;)
so sit back relax and enjoy a series of videos documenting the full restoration of the bike from start to finish.
If you like what you see and have any ideas for the channel or would even like to donate something to restore to the channel please get in touch. :)
And as usual if you liked the video please like share and subscribe and help the channel grow.

The Big Tear Down-Part 1 ( Honda C90 FULL RESTORATION ) - Авто/Мото
Hey Guys, As you have probably noticed already i have updated the channel name and logo. The channel is no longer Really Random Channel it is now RRC Restoration. Just incase you were wondering why the water marks in the video still say Really Random Channel. Enjoy.
One of the best and most beautiful restoration I’ve ever seen. The love for the vintage technique drips from my screen. Another old Honda saved for next generations! ❤
These motorcycles will never die..I'm pretty sure this c90 is very lucky to meet you..
hey, Thanks for the comment. Lets hope that i can be its savior haha :)
I’ve been wrenchin on Honda’s for almost 50 years. Such beautiful creatures.
Hey Guys i would like to apologise for the lack of updates so far on this project . There have been a few unrelated unforeseen circumstances that ive had to deal with over the past few days, hence the lack of replying to your comments as well as no uploads. I am now back it though and Part 2 will be coming out soon i cant give a definite day but it wont be too long.
Thanks for your patience and support it means A LOT to the channel and me. :)
man: Nice job, from Portugal, waiting more videos, MANY THANKS!
T
I am Still riding this motocycle C90 to work everyday. And i am enjoying every second beautiful bike..
C90 was my transportation during high school. It bring loads of wonderful memories. Some day I would like to do the same. You inspires me on this motorbike. Thank you for doing this to her. 🙏🏼
I just acquired a 1977 trail 90 that has been sitting in a barn since 1982 and surprisingly in good shape. I appreciate you sharing your resto it will give me direction when I do mine.

You must be a bodyman-painter by trade but whatever it is please keep the cameras rolling and Thank You. About 40 yrs. ago my best friend was, I use to love watching and helping him on his home projects.
Hey, well spotted i am a body re finisher by trade ;). Part 3 or the series will be going live tonight ;)
As a HUGE supercub enthusiast, I sincerely love this! All your restorations are super concise and to the point. Can't wait to see this unfold!
Hey, Thanks for your comment and welcome along for the ride :)
This is gold to me. I love bikes and i love your restos!!! esto realmente alegra mi día! Gracias
the hands you have are golden
What an incredible barn find 😍 id kill for one of those unrestored but if I could get one restored by you OMG that thing would be like a baby to me
Yes finally a restoration to watch and enjoy! Take your time love your work love seeing people knowing what they are doing.
Im glad you are enjoying the series so far :) Every part of the bike will be restored to its former glory my plan is to have it looking as though it has just left the Honda production line :)
I rode a C90 for around half a year when my bike was totalled in an accident and I needed to get to work waiting for the insurance to pay out on my main bike. I hated it at first but quickly learned to at least respect it for its rugged reliability. It never let me down, it got me to work right through the winter.
Finally getting to this restoration series. Big cub fan myself, this is right up my alley. Cheers!
Enjoy :)
Wow! It must be 20 years since I last saw one of these. Really looking forward to following along with this.
Good job so far and thanks for sharing the experience dude.
Hey, Thanks for your comment and glad your along for the ride :)
Oh man this one is gonna be awesome! Great find. Looks like a perfect project for restoration!
Early Australian postie scooter. AusPost have used these for years for mail delivery in the suburbs. They still do using a model specifically designed and manufactured by Honda to AusPosts specifications. Valuable collectors item now. 👍👍
They use a Honda here in Wellington for the same thing. Not as reliable as the old one.
Your videography and editing is very well done. Been binge watching your other videos. Love how you carefully placed the parts that is needed and chuck those in a separate shot. That’s hilarious. Sub and liked all your other videos. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for your kind comment im glad you like my videos :)
I had a 67 Honda Trail 90 back in 83 ....It was sweet for my first ride!
Looking forward to this series!

It's here !! Was waiting !!! Thanks and lovely stuff . I have a feeling that this restoration will be a 5 part series :)
Hey, Thanks for your comment and patience :). I was figuring around the 5 part mark as well ;)
I owned a 50cc SuperCub in the 80s. Looking forward to this series. Thanks.
Awesome :) I hope you enjoy the series as much as i am putting it together for you guys :)
Why am i hypnotized by a guy stripping down a C90?
Haha, I hope you enjoy the full series :)
I like this channel..restoration so very detail, i cannot wait for part2..good job👍👍
I had one of these motor cycles myself in the 80's Gold colour it was great, had it from Street Bike in Dudley UK, Just loved it . So I'm looking forward to this restoration and all the best with it !!!
Thank you for your comment. I hope you enjoys the series of videos :)
A nice original unmolested example and a great basis for a restoration. Great find bud.
Hey,Thanks for the comment. Yeah i had to jump at the chance when it appeared :)
used to ride these bikes up the local woods for hours, great fun and very tough old bikes. we called them step through's .
Funnily enough i used to have one as well that i would abuse to a crazy amount in an old quarry, no matter what you did you just couldn't kill it :) Step through is a common name for them round here as well .
Your organizational skills are exceptional, I use tagged baggies. Guess I have to up grade to cheap food containers.
I used to muck about on one of these when i was a kid. Can't wait to see her in pristine condition again!
Hey, Thanks for the comment. The project is coming along very nicely, Part 2 will be coming soon ;)
My favorite parts or one of them is the infamous chain toss, lol
I look forward to following the project. Thanks
Hey, Thanks for your comment and i hope you enjoy the series :)
Omg! I'm tearing down my own Honda as well, this is awesome, can't wait to see the rest!
Hey, Thanks for the comment and good luck with your project :)
Wow huge job, very brave. No doubt the outcome will be another masterpiece!
Haha yeah it is a big undertaking but will be well worth it to see the final result :) Thank you for your comment.
It's the simple things I learn from your videos... Tupperware... ingenious.
Im glad you learned something from my vids, it makes it all really worthwhile doing :)
@@RRCRestoration I learn something every upload mate. Where are you based?
Ooo, this looks like it'll be fun!
Its not in bad shape. Ive seen worse that are running proudly strong. These things are sturdy as hell.
I had a couple of these in the 70’s/80’s. They were great fun. Never tried stripping them though. I seem to remember, if you unscrewed one of the screws that held the ignition barrel on, you could start it without the key! Great vid by the way.
Very cool! I like your work, especially that it is without superfluous words. Hello from Russia!
A little cold for scooters in your part of the world.
Our moto technique is very popular. But it's only used 3-4 months a year :)
first time to watch restoration a bike 😱 nice video😍 im waiting part 2!!!
Me too. The series should be good.
Thank you both, Im glad you are enjoying the series so far :)
Great project, I'm excited for this one.
Thank you :) It should be a fun journey
Oh man! I had a Yamaha 75 from the late 70's that's a twin of this scooter. Was just thinking about it the other day - was super fun to ride and was technically my first set of wheels. Boy would I love to get one of those today!
Looking forward you your progress - I know it's going to be stellar.
Hey, Thanks very much for your kind comment and for sharing your memories with us :)

Is it sad that I am more impressed (AKA jealous) by you having a large-ish, clean area to work in? Of course I liked the video as well, lol.

Really Random Channel I Love u Channel
cool. off to part 2...
Thanks for the comment, Hope you enjoy the rest of the series :)
They were known as plastic pigs where i live and there was a gang of lads who i knew later on in life who rode Honda c 90s painted in all manner of styles and colours with name plates with pig1 pig2 and so on and a local copper who was trying to stop the full set. These bikes where used as transport, motor cross and trials bikes. I had one with my brother that we rode in the woods. Great machines look forward to seeing this one progress to perfection.
Jimspeed 13 round my way (Kent in those days) Plastic Pig was the name for a Reliant 3-wheeler! Les
@@leslieaustin151 also what ERF trucks got nick named due to the fiberglass cabs. The plastic fantastic.
Would have loved to see a bit more of the bike before the teardown, like seeing if it turns over etc, a bit of detective work to see what needs to be fixed, parts to be ordered etc
Hey, Thanks for your comment and feedback its all appreciated :) Now that you say it i do kind of regret not going a bit more in depth with the initial look at the bike but its all lessons to be learned for the next big project on the channel ;)
That top box mount 😂
This is going to be a fun project for sure. I need to see what you're going to do with those wheels. I'm in a similar situation.
Hey, thanks for your comment. Stay tuned and find out ;) Im sure you'll find my solution helpful
Watched this 9am this morning 10am I started to do mine. I was planning on just riding it but seen this and thought why not with all this corona
Não vejo a hora de ver como vai ficar .
More Motorcycle please

Got one in here that have the serial number in the 40000 range. dont know the year as I dont have the paper for it. It was in a barn for 25+ years... Cant wait to see the whole restauration..
BTW did I told you it was my Birthday lately, got a few gift, but your project is now my best gift of all.. Been sitting on my restaurauration project for at least 8 years...
brings back many memories of freezing my ass in a shed replacing tyres/brakes and exhaust studs, such a brilliantly designed bike, shame they killed it off, and the 110 replacements were just never quite as good, just felt buzzy
Restoring a bike? A Honda 90? Now I'm subscribed. Looking forward to the next instalment.
BTW you must eat a lot of takeaway food. :)
Hey, Thanks for your comment and sub its very much appreciated :) Haha yeah im never far away from my local chinese haha nah you can buy those tubs very cheaply and they are awesome for storing all the odds and sods that would otherwise end up scattered everywhere :)
The C90 is a 90cc, four stroke single cylinder OHC engine with a single range transmission motorcycle built for the street. It is a version from the family of bikes that the CT90 trail machine is from. The CT90 has two transmission ranges. These bikes were built from the 50's to the mid 80's for the US market and I believe they are still made for and used by the postal service in Australia. Top speed in this version is about 50 MPH and in good running will get about 50 MPG. You see the step through frame version here, but Honda also made a T frame that look like a "normal" motorcycle. They are virtually bulletproof bikes.
I'm jealous that I didn't find one in this condition. I learned to ride on this frame style and actually owned a T framed C90, which I bought for $50 and rode for 5 years before selling it.
Be sure to clean the metal fuel screen in the fuel selector valve before you ride it.
BTW there was no clutch in this series of bikes. Shifting was only by foot lever in a semi-auto transmission. Off hand lever (non-throttle side) was actually rear brake.
Darrell Jensen - on the models in UK, at least, there was no left hand handlebar lever, the rear foot brake pedal is on right side (handlebar rear brake only on CT90?). There are actually two clutches in the transmission I think, operated through linkage from the gear-change pedal and through an engine-speed device - so “automatically operating clutch”, but it’s incorrect to say ‘no clutch’, it’s there. An almost unbreakable bike, as Ed March has proved (look for “C90 Adventures”). Heck, he even raced his at Dirtquake this year!! I wanted a C90 early this year and couldn’t find one at an affordable price, well done Really Random! I’m watching every day for the next instalment... Les in UK
It was in really good condition to start with , I've been looking to buy one,and some of them advertised as need a little TLC,when I got there ,WTF,it looked like a pit bike from the 80s,.from what I remember the kids with no pocket money would swap there donkey kong or what you had for one Bone it down, weeks of fun, till you broke it,.then this one sat in a shed for 40 years to be sold needing TLC !
Doing up a 1965 C100 (Cub 50). Where did you find the original colour-matching paint? Can you please share the paint code? Also, missed it on the videos: did you just sandblast the wheel hubs and not paint them?? GREAT tutorial my project. Thanks!!
hi man, love your videos! Currently im restoring my own C50 but I have a big issue, my rear fork pivot axle is stuck for good and I ve tried everything (heat, WD40, etc). Do you recommend anything i can try? Thanks! (Would love to ask a few more questions)
Waiting for your part two upload
No way, I was just looking for a Honda restoration! I'm trying to do up a CT90 that's in far worse condition than this bike. Soaking in rust converter and wire brushing so many bits takes time and patience lol.
Hope you do a good job!
I presently doing a Honda Goldwing 1200. Not anywhere as comprehensive as this and it's slow going but lots of fun. Trouble with my project is that it's so big, it takes up most of a garage.
will you do an a rx-z 135cc full restoration...I love that bike...love your channel sir...new subs..
nice
Buen vídeo hola😀
Brilliant. I've always fancied doing one of these. I wonder, will you be doing a faithful restoration, or will you be adding some sympathetic modifications? I hope you do the latter. Things like better bulbs, better wiring, modern tyres and shocks. That sort of thing. Anyway I can't wait for the next film.
Hey, Thanks for the comment. I'll be sticking to a faithful restoration on this one but i have another project in the works that i hope to restore to OEM + standard ;) The next instalment will be ready in a few days time ;)
