Hey Guys, As you have probably noticed already i have updated the channel name and logo. The channel is no longer Really Random Channel it is now RRC Restoration. Just incase you were wondering why the water marks in the video still say Really Random Channel. Enjoy.
good to see someone doing a factory fresh resto of the best field bike EVER, makes a change from all the pitbike engined ""customs"" that folk seem to be knockin up.
Another awesome episode! It's amazing how you make 30 mins seem like 5! Best way to spend 30 mins though! Thanks for allowing us to be your guest and share in the experience. I'm wheelie excited for the next episode!
Oh, I remember these! My mate had one in college, but his was blue and white if I remember. Loads of fun! He got four of us on there one day and as he pulled off we all went flying! The bike was on top of him and the exhaust was burning his leg but we were laughing so hard we couldn't pick the bike up off him. The more he was shouting to help him the weaker with laughter we got! Sounds bad but he was fine, that day was hilarious!
Wow!! I have to wonder just how many of these have you repaired or restored....😮😮😮 Your expertise as you disassemble and repair, just shows years of experience!! That is going to be the sexiest moped ever!!😁😁😁
I am fond of your attention to the interior of the frame. That is a great deal to keep the rust away and to make the restoration is what it is... You did very good with the frame.
When you have been working on your own motorcycle; That is when you know how much work this actually is compared to how much work it looks in the video.
Hey, Thanks for your comment and its very true, the video doesnt even come close to showing all of the time and processes involved in restoring something from the ground up.
I'll subscribe only under the condition that you only restore extra cool shit like this. Also bonus points gol throwing us a curveball & doing a classic electronic.
When I do projects like that I have to take pictures of everything when I take it apart. Memory is not what it used to be. You do a really good job with your projects. Takes lots of patience.
Awesome work man. I can see why it took a hot second to upload the next video. No pressure to get them out fast- quality over quantity. I can see your dedication to bring this Honda back to life and it is seen throughout the little details you put into it. Keep it up!
Hey, Thank you for your kind comment and understanding. It really does take a long time to work a full time job and restore a bike not to mention filming it and editing it but its all worth it when you get to see the fruits of your labor and get to chat with you guys about the work being done. :)
Hey, Thanks for the comments. If it was the original paint i would have been tempted to do a sympathetic restoration and keep the original paint, its hard to show on camera but the bike is not in its original paint it has been badly painted by brush and is covered in rust under the surface so leaving the old paint is simply a no go.
This video reminds me of a project I took on that had a life of its own. In 1990 rented a House with a girlfriend at age 23, the house had a detached garage, an empty space that held an old 1978 Honda 750. The owner of the house said the engine on the bike was locked up and if I hauled it off I could keep whatever scrap money I got out of it. After looking the bike over I decided to see what was wrong with the engine, before I scraped the bike. One of the cylinders was scored up badly enough to seize the engine, so I took the engine out of the frame and took it to a buddy who loved such projects. He agreed to get my junk engine running again but it would be months before it was ready. The owner of the bike signed over the title of the bike to me so I began working on all the other issues the bike had in my spare time. The brakes had to be rebuilt, the seat was a rats nest, it needed the wiring gone through, both tires were flat and dry rotted.. the bike had sat from 1980, 10 years of dust and neglect. So I cleaned and replaced and repaired and such, even polished and repaired things along the way. A visit to a local junk yard netted me a few things I wanted, like different handle bars, a fender that I could paint ( the original was solid chrome... yech) I ordered a new seat cover from a Honda dealership, and my mom fitted it over some new foam padding for me. Finally after 8 months my friend dropped the engine off at my house. It was reinstalled in the frame. It was now a few CC’s bigger than 750cc’s, we guessed it was around 806cc’s, a minor improvement. I bought two new tires and had them mounted, and the bike was ready to ride. I had spent approximately 400$ I had a great bike, that looked somewhat new, it had loads of power, and I was happy with it. I traded that bike to a guy who had an old Harley in baskets in his basement a year later. And so began the next project.
I’m impressed I have one as well that’s onmy to do list for a restoration I actually liked your frame look in bare metal although your complete process does turn it into a nicer looking finished product and I like the idea of converting the rust and sealing it like you did mine will be similar as I plan on doing new Black paint on the frame and I’m hoping to do a buff on the engine to give it that chrome like contrast as I did on another Black Honda I owned btw my Old Honda 90 is a 1964 S90 model
I can't want wait for part three. I saw the 1part prouvilsy you do good work. I'm currently working on a Honda trail ct70 have fun and keep up the good work.
I think I would have took it somewhere and paid to have it bead blasted. Pitted areas always seem to show up as later problems - in my experience anyway. However I've had pretty reliable results with liquid rust treatments ( not the cheap ones ) on big stuff like farm equipment, etc. Very nice job and well done.
You are amazing , what a perfect work , your attention to details and keeping everything organized and clean making all the difference , buy what is that is minute 9 , is it painting or sanding ?
When finished, this will be 10x better than from the factory! Are you also going through the engine and completely restoring that? Glad I found your channel! You have inspired me to SLOW DOWN on many of my projects and take the extra time to do a job more thoroughly, thus, MORE BETTER! :-)
I will be going through every part of the bike restoring, replacing and refinishing as necessary ;). The engine will be getting a thorough going over but i wont be splitting the gearbox apart as its in perfect condition. Im glad i could inspire you with your own projects :)
Great job on the whole project, but im very happy to see you took it down to bare metal! Im always disappointed when someone doesnt do a "full resto" & they just paint over the existing, or dont even repaint sonething they just wash it even though it really should have had a full resto done. Taken down to bare metal. Again very well done.
Great job here! After the hydrate 80 is cured, is it raised compared to the bare metal? I would have thought you could see brush strokes? Or do you just use a etch primer straight over it without doing any more to it?
Hi, Yes you are correct the hydrate 80 does sit proud of the surface by a few microns but as the product is designed to be used in conjunction with other refinishing products the step between metal and hydrate 80 is never an issue.
I'm new to your channel and I love it! Is that your shop, garage, basement, or workplace? It's WAY TOO CLEAN!!! Lol! Where do you keep all your tools, pieces, and parts?!!! I don't see any shelves, cabinets, toolboxes, nothing! Keep up the good work, bro!
Hi and a very warm welcome to the Really Random Channel :). Its a purpose built room where i do all my filming and painting, Just outside the room is my main workshop where i keep all of my tools, equipment bikes and cars. Hope this answers your question :)
I might have went against the grain a bit and, perhaps went with a Spanish Gold basecoat and then maybe 3-5 coats of candy apple or candy brandywine, then wet it down good with a coat of clear or two. Great job thus far though. Can't wait for the next video.
Hey, Thanks for the comment and suggestion. Usually im the first to change the colour of somthing but for this project im going for a factory restoration so none of my usual funky colours will be appearing in this series im afraid.
Really Random Channel Killer Job. Gorgeous. And a pleasure to see unfold. I had another thought and it was not the basis for my comment, please ride it.
High quality video. Great effort and hard work. All that for a "duck" as we call them in Greece. They are pretty iconic. Although I like the shape of the 12v one better than this, because of the seamless tank. My fathers C50 just rots (started on the rear mudguard) but it's still riding. I hope I can restore it some day, thanks for the insight in the process :)

Thank you very much :)
Very satisfying to watch this. Gives me some motivation to finish restoring my '72 Honda Mini Trail 70.
Good luck with your own project :)
I really admire you for being passionate of what your doing. Your work is into perfection.
Thank you very much :)
When you have been working on your own motorcycle; That is when you know how much work this actually is compared to how much work it looks in the video.
Hey, Thanks for your comment and its very true, the video doesnt even come close to showing all of the time and processes involved in restoring something from the ground up.
I admired your work. If there are people like you in the Philippines I can ask for work with confidence.
Great video, coming along nicely I can’t wait to see part 3
Thank you very much :) Part 3 will be along shortly ;)
I'll subscribe only under the condition that you only restore extra cool shit like this. Also bonus points gol throwing us a curveball & doing a classic electronic.
Great job! This is going to be a real beauty when you're done!!!
Thank you very much! :)

Espectacular trabajo, te felicito desde Colombia, se nota el cariño puesto a tu labor,, espero deseoso el próximo video!!!!!!!
I would have done the lazy man''s restoration. I'd have simply polished and waxed the original paint. Kudos to you for doing the extra work.
Leaving the paint original is way better, it's way more nostalgic.
this will give it longer immunity from rust
Hey, Thanks for the comments. yeah after grinding, the level of rust was bad for the frame
Superb job and amazing results. it looks better than new in this video!
Thank you :)

Hey, Thanks for sharing your story with the channel its great hearing about other peoples biking stories :)
They normally rot across the rear mudguard and that is a part of the structure. This one is in great condition.

It was worth the work, it was very cool. Congratulations.

That stripped paint peeling was so satisfying
You are amazing , what a perfect work , your attention to details and keeping everything organized and clean making all the difference , buy what is that is minute 9 , is it painting or sanding ?

Great job! Can't wait to see the next parts.
Part 3 is well under way so you shouldn't have too long to wait ;)
10:05 looks like that’s been painted with a brush.
Very thorough job as usual.
Hey, Thanks for the comment. The surface your seeing at 10:05 is the dry surface of the hydrate 80 before flatting it down and applying primer.
You've got a great eye for detail, can't wait to see the end result, subbed.
Hey, Thanks for your comment and sub its very much appreciated :)
Giving it a like for the brush cam. Interesting angle
Haha thanks very much :)

Absolutely awesome job!!! 👍👍
Great video. Really nicely done. Would it be possible to list in the description the different products used according to their time stamp?

I’m going to restore a c70 passport 1982, witch product you apply to the plastic parts before primer? Thanks 🤙🏻
Thanks for another awesome adventure
My pleasure :), Part 3 coming soon ;)
Nice work
A question the purple can spray is for the plastic primer?
Great video
I might have went against the grain a bit and, perhaps went with a Spanish Gold basecoat and then maybe 3-5 coats of candy apple or candy brandywine, then wet it down good with a coat of clear or two. Great job thus far though. Can't wait for the next video.

Huge kudos on the paint stripping, that really is a horrible job.
Looking good!
Hey,Thanks for the comment. Yeah its a messy job but its gotta be done.
Awesome! I have a 77 Express I want to do some day!
very very good , thanks a lot , love your videos
Hey,Thanks for the comment and im glad you enjoy my videos :)
Great job!!!! 👏👍
Thank you :)
High quality video. Great effort and hard work. All that for a "duck" as we call them in Greece. They are pretty iconic. Although I like the shape of the 12v one better than this, because of the seamless tank. My fathers C50 just rots (started on the rear mudguard) but it's still riding. I hope I can restore it some day, thanks for the insight in the process :)
what is the material on your work surface? I really like the way it cleans up
Man, you're awesome.
I am currently restoring my Dad's old Honda S90 - curious why you didn't use the paint removing gel on the fuel tank like you did on the frame?
Nice and clean
Yep looking good roll on for the next one
