Yes, add bayleaf. She does in other later gumbos. Use chicken stock and base. Rue is equal parts oil and flour by the way. I use 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/2 cup flour. Grapeseed oil has a higher smoke point though I hear.

Leah187tv hi, Leah! Just double the roux and add as much broth, meat, and seafood as you'd like. You can do it all in the same pot.

The chicken base and water gave it a better consistent texture than regular chicken or shrimp stock.
How long does this last? Can I cook on a Tuesday night and serve it for Wednesday? Left overs Thursday?

Hay! Just came across this. How would file' change the taste of Gumbo? Some folks use it, some don't. What does file do to Gumbo?
Thickens the gumbo...gives good flavor can be overpowering
King crab is good and a little brown gravy to the roux.. I also usually leave the okra whole.. I may try it this Way
Blue crabs only in Louisiana. Adding brown gravy to the roux is a sin.
is adding tomatoes a sin too?

No, baby. Just take the chicken and sausage portion out before you add in the seafood.
