    This is what I see in him as a leader the one who truly gives his all without sparing and I do feel it’s genuinely done such people exist but on a personal level do you do anything for yourself to feel your needs? A lot of times with givers they neglect themselves because they are always in the role of a service to others which is great but you can’t pour from an empty cup. Either you drink too much coffee ☕️ that’s where you get your energy from 😊 or you need to share with us what keeps you going or secret having the ability to share.

    Loving this speech!!! One of key takeway that I learn from this particular speech is: instead of using the term soft skill and hard skill, Simon suggests that it is more like the skill you need to learn to perform your work (hard skill) and replacing the soft skill with humain skill in how to interact positivey in situation of confrontation, asking for help.
    Simon points out that one of the skill that is under trained is actually people learning how to ask for help. Now, people comes up with their ask with more a yes / no approach or end up quitting when needs/wishes not met. (this is right one!! will share this learning with my kids and learn how to approach things different with positivity and most importantly a conversation instead of confrontation

    Simon, I never liked Jack Welch or his "leadership" approach. I agree that he, and others like him, did so much damage. I single handedly tried to take that mindset on at my company. lots of people with student loan debt have been working multiple jobs for a long time now. the only difference now is the flexibility with which they can do it as since they aren't working in offices. simon mentions the employer or workplace has to be everything for employees - and i just don't agree. staff don't want their employers to be everything. people want meaningful work, in a non-toxic environment/culture, and wages/salaries that maintain a typical standard of living. what we're experiencing is a younger generation of citizens and workers who aren't afraid to make demands. and i'm proud of them. i think i can learn a thing or two from younger generations.

    At around 27 min mark, Simon talks about millenials lacking skills about negotiating, having tough conversations etc. but most of the problem is the absence of these skills in management. The youngsters are just the latest entrants into the game. It's on organisations to own leading by example and they can't do that with the current paucity in human skills among leaders and managers. Can you imagine the frail egos in those senior roles, being eclipsed by their underlings in interaction, negotiation and confrontation? Too many current hierarchies foster that regimented view of rank over all else, especially in public service organisations. How do you reach those groups and get them to accept the changes that are needed both personally and professionally? Do you set a test that assesses fitness to lead? Use those results on CVs? Weed out all the BS artists from the old boys networks? That's where the changes need to happen. That's a very long game/fight.

  • @bettyqueiro

    How can leaders train younger generations with human skills when we too are still learning to be better humans? It's one the most difficult thing because it's a learning process which seems to be a journey. 🤔

    Simon says that young people put unattainable expectations on companies with things like therapy. Is this really true? I see companies setting up programs to provide therapy and basically training young employees to look to the company for the support. If the support program wasn't there, the employees would look elsewhere. It's a retaining tool more than anything now.

    Soooo, what should “ this generation” do when you have that discussion about a raise and ask for steps to take to earn said raise and it’s ignored and yet they keep promising you it’s just around the corner.

  • @liplai5566
    @liplai5566 Год назад

    The problem discussed about young ppl but not specifically, isn't they don't know how to do requests smoothly. It's about the contradiction of effort & rewards nowadays. Ppl in the old days believe in luck / destiny cuz it's hard to judge when information flows is more restricted. Examples / evidence spread so easily & quickly thanks to the Internet today. Ppl realize so many "lucks" aren't actually luck but some monkey businesses. Personal abilities, ethics and responsibility mean nothing in front of money. Modern marketing is so abused covered under the freedom & rights. It's no turning back cuz there are 2+ generations who are currently the major workforces suffering from it. Ppl need hope to survive in an infinite game but the hopelessness they are feeling now they know isn't natural by chance. Unless something even worse wipes-off everything and restart the system. Even God has revamped the world.

    There appears to be entanglement of management and other philosophies, not necessary leadership. He says so many things that are not true or true in a microcosm. The young people have come up in different times, but they have the same needs as their parents; they a re human. People are burned out because empathy has been talked about without understanding the latent variables, talked about as the latest skill.

    Simon is a superb speaker and I truly love most of his messages. So much so I try to employ them through my day. However I struggle to not put weight on his mask perspective. How can someone be motivated and intelligent enough to deliver superb advice also be so gullible? Anyone with a few minutes can understand masks have zero value for airborne viruses and it is known works wide. Has been since forever. Yet when the message is changed to fit narratives the smartest of society either ignore it or allow it to mold them. Or is Simon catering to the audience which makes his intentions flawed
