I feel like a very American twist on this would be to add all the typical pumpkin pie spices, then cover it in maple syrup. Maybe top with some candied pecans too. I guess I've just gotten a hankering for pumpkin pie haha.
I just tried it. It didn't work. The interior remained a paste even on low heat. I then baked them for ages in the oven in an attempt to firm up the interior on a lowish heat. The outside formed a dark crust and the inside remained a pumpkin and flour paste. I then moved some to the air fryer to give that a try, nope. The inside still a paste. Recipe does not work.
