So yeah, remember The Legend of Spyro games? With their epic story, great characters and fascinating worldbuilding? Remember how excited we all were when the movie adaptation got announced in 2009 and then disappointment when it quietly got dropped? Well, we were all played for fools because the movie script got discovered by Lost Media archivists and it is AWFUL! So naturally my friends and I had to recreate the movie to understand the sheer scale of the bullet that we dodged.

Heard from watching Travis' video that apparently they also had a hand in Eragon, another movie that included a dragon and had not done so well.
No wonder the Ratchet movie seemed....cheap and cliche...

As little as I want more of this, a duology would've allowed fot climactic battle at the end to be built up to better.
I remember being really disappointed when I found out this was cancelled.
But now? I'm actually kind of relieved.
Honestly, I'd probably walk out of the theater than suffer through the baby Spyro & Sparx sequences.
I was really disappointed when it got cancelled also and I was all excited when I found out there was a long lost script but the only part I didn't like is when baby Spyro and Sparx were wearing diapers, everything on the script was epically awesome and at 1:58:59 I was so happy that Ignitus is ok and is set back to health 🥹 and I wish I've could've seen it in theaters, I was so excited when I heard about the full length movie and then it got cancelled but I liked the script though
@@justincook5202There's also the fact that the DOTD designs were to be used for the film, judging by the only poster of it. This would make a good chunk of the film look as bad as it sounds from the script.
@@X2011racer Ikr? And why did they change Spyro's character because someone told me that on the script he was more of a weak-willed unlike The Legend of Spyro games and they're some of Sparx's humors weren't even needed in the film, they changed it to a kid friendly comedy movie
My favorite part was the part where they tried to cram three games into a single movie and yet spent like 15 minutes on high school drama.
Also, Cyndog is now my headcannon.
Well, I'm pretty sure someone high up on the totem pole while making this also worked on the Eragon movie, so the cramming kinda makes sense

The funny thing about Dragonflies being all about Flight in this is that in the wild Dragonflies are actually pretty effective predators. Sparx has absolutely killed.

Normally, I hate when movie studios cancel certain movies that might have a lot of potential to be great. But after hearing the script for the cancelled Legend of Spyro movie, I’d say they did the right thing for once. The Skylanders franchise is no longer the worst thing to happen to Spyro.
For real, this is my first feature-length video and I worked way harder on it than this movie deserves. I hope you enjoy it

This reading was incredible. I loved how all the voice actors started to give less and less of a damn as it went on.
I think one of the biggest sins this script commits is turning Malefor into a Saturday morning cartoon villain with goofy henchmen. In the games, Malefor was a calculating and menacing figure whose influence could be seen around the world. The buildup to his actual debute in Dawn of the Dragon was surprisingly well done. The player NEVER sees him until the very end of the trilogy. Up until that point, you've only seen the destruction he'd caused, the creatures he had power over, and the lore spoken by supporting characters. When it is revealed that he is a purple dragon like Spyro, it evokes so many interesting questions about Spyro's actual purpose in the world and what capabilities he truly has as well. Is Spyro capable of being as sinister as Malefor? It's so cool how the villain's mere existence adds to the protagonist's characterization.
Honestly it WOULD be cool to see either a remake of the games or an actually good movie version of the story. It has a lot of potential!
I had to remind myself that this was an actual real script for an abandoned movie and not a weird fanfiction

Love Hunter delivering us the _exposition~_ on all the great allies of the dragons, then immediately jumping to kill a random dragonfly with whom the dragons have a long-standing pact.
Man, this script just drags on. Thank you for making it bearable/enjoyable.

Apparently the writers forgot to properly edit any leftovers from the previous drafts while altering or adding in whatever they did for this draft! 🤣
They literaly didnt add the battle betwen spyro and cinder, one of the most recogniceable scenes from the games and yet we have spyro inflation and diaper scenes

Same goes for “Super Mario Bros. The Movie”, “Dragonball Evolution”, or any of Uwe Boll’s atrocious video game movies.
There are countless Spyro fanfiction stories that at least have better writing and plots than this official Spyro movie script.
Watching this script reading actually made me eager to check out some LOS continuation fanfics.
The fact that this movie whould have had the uncanny 2000's 3d animation style other movies where useing at the time makes imagineing the scences as if seen in a movie theater much more funnier

From someone who never played a single Spyro game, I can say that this isn’t really good movie in general. Not only does the awful humour annoy me, but also the amount of montages. Did we really need to see a egg raising montage AND a montage with a diaper joke in the start?
Thank you for bringing this atrocity to life, you and your friends really made the experience more bearable with your side jokes.

This script really doesn't do justice to what made the TLOS so appealing to people in the first place
It's all fun and games while watching it, but now that it's ended, I am frantically trying to scrub it from my brain before it corrupts the sancity of my memories and headcanon. If I fail, at least I'll always remember the ending to A New Beginning when Spyro and Bwah are getting bullied by a tiny dragonfly for being the main characters but Hunter swoops in and defends their honor with his signature weapon, the sword; then the bully is so impressed by their courage that he asks for their autographs, only to end with every character in the game getting adopted by Spyro and Sparx's parents because the wife always wins, meanwhile an epic choir chants latin in the background the entire time.

THE ENDING HELP
Holy shit if I was directing this movie, all the modern-esque parenting montages would have been the FIRST thing to go! Who thought this was a good idea?! Legend of Spyro wasn't even a modern setting!

As dreadful as this was, it did remind me of TLOS and how beautiful of a storyline it was, and the impact it had on me becoming so attached to dragons. It lead me to become comforted by drawing and writing and thinking about dragons even to this day, and the nostalgia I feel for the series comes with memories of a much better time for me, that I refused to think about for the longest time because I tried to cross over TLOS with other media and with my elementary school and middle school art and stories turned it into a cringe fest. I need to revisit this series and become part of the dwindling fandom. It made me so happy, and keeps me so happy even though I haven't drawn TLOS in like, 6 years. In fact, I'm gonna pick up my pen and draw the one I just realized has always been my comfort character, Ignitus.
This is basically The Legend of Spyro: A New Eternal of the Dragon. And I love it! This is beautiful, Blaze.
Now gather some animators and make a reanimated collab of The Legend of Spyro's movie

I say, this was the BEST video about the draft. The total ammount of edition, epic and cringe madness, overboarding voice acting and a lot of possible memes, all in a full movie lenght video that would put any videogame movie from the 90's in a pedestal.
I am still so shocked that this was real on the first place, but at least I can see it and say "this is the funniest sh*t I've ever seen" about something related to Spyro.
I feel relaxation seeing the renders floating and vibrating on screen, it feels like the most normal thing here.
And I would be lying if I say I didn't laughed hard with the curses through the reading. It feels like bloopers and I love bloopers.
You all made a wonderful work with the voices. There were so much characters to begin with, and the situations OMG I'm dying.
Never expected that seeing babies would cause rejection, and the drama parts looks like were from a teenager self-discovery book, but that three games were compressed in a movie?! Glad that never happened...
That the credits are a kazzooed version of Guide You Home, that's how this draft feels like.

The edition, format and voice acting made it more bearable that never was. Mostly the edition, I don't how much time that would have took to do but It was totally worth it.

Finally managed to finish watching this! This was some journey with an unneeded amount of effort put into it, bravo Blaze! I used to be bummed the movie got never made when I first heard about it all those years ago, but seeing this made me realize we dodged a huge purple-colored bullet with this one.
This dramatic reading was very amusing though, great job on you for the narrating/editing and on the rest of the team for all the voice acting.
I kind of enjoyed the slower pace, but suspected we'd run into some serious pacing issues once Spyro was training at the temple over half way through the movie. I feel the writer/s wanted to tell an epic story, and maybe make it a trilogy but were told there won't be a sequel and it needs to fit an 80 minute script

the legend of spyro is my favorite game trilogy, i grew up with these games, having got eternal night at around eight years old. i have always heard about the movie, wondering where it went or if it would be made, i always wanted the spyro movie...
THIS IS GARBAGE im glad it didn't get made, im being honest when i say that the writing in this movie is ON PAR with the spyro fanfiction i was writing at eight!!! it's actually uncanny, this script was definitely written by somebody's kid O.o
but also THANK YOU!! i may think it sucks but this video is amazing, you put so much effort into bringing this movie to life for fans like me!!!
and for my final thoughts, i think the games are spyro's story and do a perfect job. if i were to make a spyro movie, i would want it to focus more on cynder, and maybe im a tad bias since she's been my #1 favorite character since i was a kid ^-^'

I always wondered what the script was going to be like when I first found out about the movie being scrapped a few years ago, but I never expected it to be such a horrible mishmash of A New Beginning and Dawn of the Dragon. I'm honestly glad this was never released, otherwise it would've ABSOLUTELY destroyed Spyro's legacy more than Enter the Dragonfly had ;w;
Watching this live was great, it was a blast chatting with you all while we watched this disaster of a scrapped movie come to life. To add, you did a fabulous job with this, especially when you factor in what you had to work with.
