Sam is 100% WRONG about the Doku one. The ref was pointing towards where Rice eventually took the free kick. The foul was for handball by Kovacic. That is where Rice took the free kick from. Doku kicked it back into the Arsenal half, farther than what Rice kicked it against Brighton.
The issue with going by the letter of the law is that the nuances u mentioned shouldn't matter. According to what the refs are stating for Arsenal now is that any touch of the ball after the foul has been given is a yellow
The foul (handball) in mcs half and he kicked it back into arsenal half. According to this narrative, why was the ref telling doku to kick it back to the place where the foul is not from then?

Yup, I think the image of the invincible just flashed across minds of many past rivals with performance and it's a scary thought for many. Gary Neville and Roy Keane would rather support Man City!
"Tells you all you need to know" they gained a point, rather than handing Arsenal's parked bus 3. How dare they celebrate. Must be so easy playing against 10 men of Arsenal's calibre, when their sole intention is to disrupt play and time waste.
This is the start of the actual rivalry. Previous to this it was infancy Arsenal trying to catch the juggernaut but now it’s on. City got rattled big time and the post match comments from the city squad shows it more than anything. They know this isn’t a team they will blow away with 10 games to go anymore, this Arsenal team can’t be given an inch now.
As a City supporter I think it's a huge reminder that there's still so much for us to work on, as there typically is at this stage in the season. Arsenal nearly did the smash and grab with a bit of dark arts, and they're entitled to go for that if they think it's a good way to get a result -- they nearly got 3 points from it. If you can stay organized like that after going up against City, it is one of the best ways to beat us, like a classic Mourinho-Pep matchup. I think Arsenal can play like that when they need to and I don't think City can. Both teams will be upset by the refereeing, I think Oliver clearly just wasn't up to the task for this match which is a shame. Injuries for both teams were also a bummer -- game would've been better with Rodri, KDB, and Odegaard of course. And it's still too early to know what it'll mean as far as the title race goes. If you're City you certainly celebrate that 98th minute goal though because it could be big in the long run. And it preserves the home unbeaten streak even when of course you'd rather win.
Silva moved the ball 20 meters and blocked Trossard to get the ball before the first goal. Ref ignored it completely. Then decided to give a red card in the 8th minute of 6 minute stoppage time. Then we saw that refs have no idea how much stoppage time is needed in the game. We got 7 minutes in a half that was top 3 this season of active ball in play.
Not even top 3, the most active minutes was played in the second half. Which is why it's does my head in when everyone keeps bringing up 'dark arts' and 'time wasting'. Like please stfu and look at the stats. The most time wasted was by Rodri when he was rolling around trying to get Havertz sent off
RE Trossard I think the important point is that as fans we absolutely do not want to be discussing the intracicies of what constitutes 'delaying the restart' and whether it warrants a harsh punishment or not. This was never and should never be a mainstream topic of discussion: the referees need to get over themselves and make the game about the football.
Maybe after getting a second yellow for petulantly kicking the ball away, his manager should have given him a bollocking as opposed to a hug. Whilst the refereeing was below par for both sides on Sunday, players and managers should take more responsibility for their actions or lack of.
Arsenal are reffed different. Stricter, more pedantically and more troubling their is a deep disrespect between pgmol and Arsenal. We are the poster boys for being made example of. City just dont get these type decisions
@@HorsieWalker i woulda gave 10 min. Those arsenal players time wasting was shameful. Falling on the ground, calls medics, asking keeper to stay on the ground, and rice got booked for time wasting…

I have rewatched the match and saw that the first half was balanced. Each team had their moments and Arsenal wasn't parking the bus as the general narrative has been. City had 10 men in their box when Calafiori scored but no one accused them of parking the bus. Michael Oliver decided it was time to ruin the match and the 2nd half appeared ruined with full attack against full defence.
Funnily enough the second yellow for Trossard, which was mentioned in commentary, was for rough play. Even the VAR discussion was about that and NOT about delaying a restart. Maybe people need to talk about that a bit more
Rough play!? That was the officials scrambling to explain away a terrible bias. If that was rough, then nobody should be on the pitch. Did anyone see Haaland, slamming around?
Haaland, for all his scoring ability, looks like and is a childish player. Odergaard, his compatriot, by contrast is in a different class. Child v man.
Liverpool and City was dreadfully boring as a rivalry. No one will remember that. And it's not for the lack of technical quality. It's simply because the rivalry was characterized by this notion of "we're friends and we're both so good". Fck me. I'm glad that's over.
Sorry Sam, but you are so wrong on the Doku example. Doku still kicked it 5m wide of where declan rice was stood, who was stood where it was supposed to be taken. Doku definitely slowed it down.
James talking absolute nonsense re. kicking the ball away. Both Rice and Trossard knew exactly what they were doing. With Joao Pedro - the ball was in play and was at full pace to try keep the ball in play.
Straight yellow cards for this rule (kicking, knocking, poking the ball away after a foul) feel so childish. And so many rough tackles, neck choking, ass grabbing aren't even carded. For Trossard case, it's too harsh. It happens so quick, not even a second after the whistle. Common sense! At least, give him a warning.
This podcast is such a breath of fresh air compared to the usual fans berating each other we see a lot. The host Ayo is brilliant. He doesn't interrupt or talk over others & lets the convo flow while being just on point when he speaks.
What would the narrative be right now had Arsenal, without their first choice midfield and down a man due to a silly, inconsistent application of the kicking the ball away rule (btw, how was Trossard kicking the ball away different from Bernardo kicking the ball away before Arsenal's free kick after which Calafiori scored?), hung on for all three points at City's stadium? That's what got into the Man City players' heads.
I do love how bitter Bernardo was at the end of the game. Oh, Arsenal didn’t just roll over and let you score 7 goals just because the referee tried to hand you the game. Bu fucking hu.
Agree that the most important consequence of the game is Rodri now out for the rest of the season with that ACL injury. Unfortunately for City I think it’s the first on many, with the fixture congestion coming suspect most of their senior players who are 30+ and flogged to death by club and country will end up going down
What James McNicholas said about the Trossard sending off is exactly my position on it. We are asking players to break lifetime habits n giving the split seconds to do so. Common sense should prevail, but refs don't seem to understand this
Kicking the ball away is a card. It's just so inconsistent.... ffs. So far only two Arsenal players have been sent off all season but every team is doing it.
the whole idea that doku is irrelevant is a joke, the rule says the opposition players are not supposed to interfere with the restart, when you look at declan rice's red the ball was kicked at him, and he was taken out and still red carded. stop playing the PGMOL line and call it fair.
Why is it so for people to be honest. Where was Joao Pedro kicking the ball to…Szoboszlai kicked the ball a couple of seconds after the whistle had gone. Plausible deniability?? Really Sam
when a team is used to being dominant, it’s easy to see when they’ve been unsettled. success unavoidably changes reactions to struggle. the almost-casual, borderline-patronizing tone that city players and managers use when describing other clubs/squads disappeared here. they went straight for antagonism. the tone change comes from a combination of surprise that “business as usual” has been disrupted along with anger that a competitor would have the nerve to presume anything other than defeat. haaland is the biggest tell. he acts like the overgrown fetus that he is when he feels things aren’t going his way.
Every ultra competitive team would celebrate scoring in last seconds to get a point /points .. so it’s no difference here .. City bombarded the Arsenal goal the second half with their keeper outstanding… the game changed when Rodri went off injured… Arsenal done what they had to do.. not pretty but very effective.. this rivalry has been bubbling no doubt and if ya thing City going to lie down .. forget it… if you think City won’t attack at the Emirates..forget it .. we ain’t lying down .. Come on City
Nonsense from Sam on Doku, he kicked ball back passed Rice into the arsenal half, the free kick was to be taken on the halfway line, he knew exactly what he was doing there, or is he that bad he could pass it too Rice 😅
The rule can be like that "If a player is on yellow and he kicks the ball first time, he will be booked and will miss the next game" but for that specific game he will be allowed to play on, but if he does the same second time he will certainly have to leave the ground". What do you say
This sounds weird but i think Pep might actually have an incentive to stay if Arteta beats City to the title this year. It'll definitely add more of a challenge to this league as other teams havent been able to trouble City like Arsenal have
While I didn't want any injury for Rodri and I think he's a brilliant player, in my mind I think that this is actually good for the entire league season. Definitely makes it more interesting.
BTW, the whole delayed restart yellow card situation delay the match more than getting back the ball. I didn't know the gaelic football 10 yard thing, but that was also what I was thinking before I heard it. It's better as a whole.
LOL at haaland celebrating at the end of the game like he won the world cup. Son, you got a point at home against ten men. Your team owns the league and its fake refs. And you still got one point at home against 10. Mentality of a weakling.
City under pep always starts the season at a slower pace because of how pep allows players to join the team way later than other teams. Usually these are the games where city drops points However, this season city have started well which is only going to make it harder for other teams to take the title away from city All these city players just know what they need to do at the business end of the season
I think they are rattled because the best team in England hasnt beaten the second best team in the last 5 meetings. Listen to their fans, the post match comments from players. Celebrating a draw Rattled!
I have no issue with Trossard being carded and sent off, but I do object to city players not getting carded for the same. Then there is also Haaland throwing the ball at the back of Gabriel and again nothing.
If Doku's one was because Michael Oliver asked Arsenal to retake it then why did Haland get away with throwing the ball at an opponent? Consistency is the key otherwise one team will always feel that referees favor the other team
We need a look into Steve Madley's description of what happened at the Manchester City vs Arsenal game. You have lost a fan if you have got people like him working in your organization.
Utter bullshit about Doku, he kicked it past rice which is where the freekick should be taken from and then the ref had to tell timber to move the ball back forward 10 yards
The way the game was played was different. City dominating, amd arsenal holding back the whole time. Even though it was a draw, gave an energy of big brother small brother's. Arsenal won't be considered with big boys until a title win i guess
ive listened to all perspectives on this card situation, all so boring… be honest with yourselves boneheads. 2 years ago these are never yellow cards, whats the point of making them yellow cards now, they dont need to be, take a step back and use your head, give a verbal warning first. the officials from top to bottom are just making football worse, end of story, no need to go into kore detail about the event
Judging by City fans crying in the comments section, yes, yes, definitely rattled. FFS just look an manchild Haaland’s antics towards the end of the game 😂😂😂
The man narrative i find bizarre it wasnt drawing with q0 men chasing a game it was going against 1 out of the box and 9 in the box. Arsenal should take credit and major confidence and resilence but is it super alarming it took city do long to find the equaliser
You can tell City were rattled with the amount of moaning their players had after the game. Gundogan showed his experience by being the only one who talked about how they should've done better. Best to critcise yourself and your own team when you don't get the result you want. As a group they lacked class by not saying they should've broken down a 10-man team on their home ground.
It's a minor transgression, and I can't wrap around my head that PGMOL ruled that a red card should be meted out for such. I think an appropriate punishment should be a blue card, i.e., suspend the player for at least 10 minutes during the match. If he does it less than 10 minutes before the match is up, they are off.
Rattle Man City? What, by being gifted a goal by the ref by pulling Walker out of position then not giving him the chance to get back - if he's the best referee the PL can produce we're in trouble -then taking Rodri out possibly for the season (the elbow into his side in the first two seconds was clearly deliberate, very easy to see from the camera view behind the goal, we don't know if that had any effect on the later clash with Partey but the mentality seemed to be "We've lost our centre half for several weeks so we need to even the odds). Then they spend the second half like a team desperate to avoid relegation, and spending half of that time on the floor? You're deluded if you think that's a team that can challenge Man City for the title. The assault by Trossard - there's no other word for it - was a red on it's own without kicking the ball away even being a factor. I get the desperate defending in the second half with 10 men, but to lie on the floor every 2 minutes was a joke, again aided and abetted by the ref who stopped the game on a number of occasions when he had no valid reason to. Every team does a bit of timewasting but Arsenal took it to a whole new level. Bottom line is you tried to rattle City and make them lose it, possibly hoping to get one of their players sent off, but they held their nerve, saw right through it and stopped you getting the points. 2 points dropped again.
@@mazzarati5009 Yeah, writing more than a few coherent words isn't that difficult for most of us, you should try it sometime. Funny how people are condoning City for the alleged 115 yet think cheating on the pitch is perfectly acceptable. Whatever you may think, it's not football. But that's why City have won 4 in a row and Arsenal haven't won anything.
In many ways it's not football anymore. It's something else. Which do you want? Arsenal struggle to compete on a football level so they introduce non football plays. Reminds me of Real Madrid v Barcelona

@@trh5841 is it that hard to understand? the ref was pointing to where the free kick happened, where Rice took the free kick from.
Doku kicked it away from there.

They’re topping you in the tabled and you’ve never beat them head to head, I think they’re fine mate
"Tells you all you need to know" they gained a point, rather than handing Arsenal's parked bus 3. How dare they celebrate. Must be so easy playing against 10 men of Arsenal's calibre, when their sole intention is to disrupt play and time waste.
all of this just for arsenal to finish second again and win no trophy
This is the start of the actual rivalry. Previous to this it was infancy Arsenal trying to catch the juggernaut but now it’s on. City got rattled big time and the post match comments from the city squad shows it more than anything.
Agree on all points. And will add that Oliver is rarely competent, and it's a shame to the league that he continues to be employed.
Very fair analysis 👍🏿
Finally a sane voice
Please define dark art
City fans talking about dark arts is hilarious. Rodri is the master of dark arts, with constant tactical fouling

Check newer stats, 9 mins taken for goal kicks (pl record) 2nd most average time taken on delays

The rough play happened before the delay. No point in booking the delay when the challenge already was booked

Arsenal fan here. Last time I checked, no trophy for rattling. We want trophies and we are gonna get them. All this talk about rattling is just talk.
Common sense should prevail, but refs don't seem to understand this
They couldn’t fight off a 10 man captain less team. Shameful.
Really Sam
Of course they are rattled. Their players having a meltdown post match, celebrating a draw and rodri bottling it
when a team is used to being dominant, it’s easy to see when they’ve been unsettled. success unavoidably changes reactions to struggle.
the almost-casual, borderline-patronizing tone that city players and managers use when describing other clubs/squads disappeared here. they went straight for antagonism. the tone change comes from a combination of surprise that “business as usual” has been disrupted along with anger that a competitor would have the nerve to presume anything other than defeat.
haaland is the biggest tell. he acts like the overgrown fetus that he is when he feels things aren’t going his way.
Ref was an embarrassment
Theyre shitting themselves never mind being rattled..hopefully we are at full strenght for the return fixture
No other teams get yellows for delaying restarts. Arsenal get reds .
It'll definitely add more of a challenge to this league as other teams havent been able to trouble City like Arsenal have
Did Arsenal rattle City? The Answer is Yes. Had them on strings. City celebrated a 12 v 10 draw at home. Full stop
50 kicking the ball away instances so far this season, 4 bookings, 3 for Arsenal = joke
Michael Oliver - if he isn't on the "take" then his refereeing shows an utter bias towards "115FC"

To answer the title, yes Arsenal clearly rattled city. If Arsenal keep this form then there’s a chance they won’t be stopped. The pendulum has swung.
Wow they managed to get the Man City fan on. He must be in high demand...
City under pep always starts the season at a slower pace because of how pep allows players to join the team way later than other teams. Usually these are the games where city drops points
However, this season city have started well which is only going to make it harder for other teams to take the title away from city
All these city players just know what they need to do at the business end of the season
It’s hard to get DCM like Rodri. Kovacic is not Rodri. He is more of a central defender
Nonsense take about Doku… he 100% delayed restart… handball happened at the halfway line and the ref told Timber to move the ball forward…
I think they are rattled because the best team in England hasnt beaten the second best team in the last 5 meetings. Listen to their fans, the post match comments from players. Celebrating a draw

Did anyone tell Sam Lee that Doku did not kick the ball to the direction where the freekick was taken?
I have no issue with Trossard being carded and sent off, but I do object to city players not getting carded for the same. Then there is also Haaland throwing the ball at the back of Gabriel and again nothing.
Arsenal wasted way more than 7 minutes. How many of their players suddenly sat down?
80% Peps fault for not finding a solution earlier
20% no KDB or Rodri for creativity on the edge of the box
If Doku's one was because Michael Oliver asked Arsenal to retake it then why did Haland get away with throwing the ball at an opponent? Consistency is the key otherwise one team will always feel that referees favor the other team
We need a look into Steve Madley's description of what happened at the Manchester City vs Arsenal game. You have lost a fan if you have got people like him working in your organization.
I do love this rivalry where one team always comes up second best
Utter bullshit about Doku, he kicked it past rice which is where the freekick should be taken from and then the ref had to tell timber to move the ball back forward 10 yards
The fact that Arsenal cane from goal down and ended the first half winning 2:1, BEFORE THE RED CARD, tells me a whole lot about this tie.
The way the game was played was different.
City dominating, amd arsenal holding back the whole time.
Even though it was a draw, gave an energy of big brother small brother's.
Arsenal won't be considered with big boys until a title win i guess
Yeah Yeah Yeah but who's the top of the table!
ive listened to all perspectives on this card situation, all so boring… be honest with yourselves boneheads.
It was great entertainment with a sting in the tail. Far better than the lovey dovey games we’ve seen recently
we've had this discussion every season
They’re so clearly trying to speak it into existence
City certainly felt the heat, which I dont think they don't feel like that normally.
