    You missed the pronouncing of the English short "e" as the Russian "е" like in the word "help". "hyelp me!" And also pronouncing the English short "a" and broad "a" as the Russian "я" like in the word "has". "hyas"

    • @RussianwithTamara
      @RussianwithTamara  4 года назад +3

      Thanks for your comment! Well actually I didn't miss the first one, it's tip number 7, it's called palatalization. The second one as well. In Russian we only have one sound э, which is something between English [e] and [æ], so we do often palatalize consonants before these vowels. So "has" might sound like "hyes" (but not like hyas, that's wouldn't be typical Russian)

    • @maxkho00
      @maxkho00 3 года назад

      @@RussianwithTamara You did miss pronouncing English "e" as Russian "э" (e.g. help --> хэлп, has --> хэс), though, as it is a great alternative for palatalising every consonant, which is very difficult for native English speakers (especially for those whose accents don't feature palatalisation at all, such British English).
      Also, perhaps more importantly, you didn't mention the hushing sounds "sh", "j", /ʒ/, and "ch", the first 3 of which are pronounced "harder", i.e. with the tongue retracted, while "ch" is palatalised.
      P.s. The standard way of pronouncing "champion" in a Russian accent would actually be with reduced "ion" (so something closer to chyempien) and not like at 8:54.

      Thanks! I tried to keep it short and covered only most typical moments in this video. While consonants are quite obvious, vowels are somewhat tricky to explain.
