I believe alcohol is a trap. Often the people falling into it are the most ambitious, intelligent and empathic people that somewhere in their earlier life experienced neglect from their parents/family, developing a sense of never being enough, starting then to become confused and helpless in building good, healthy relationships. And those feelings of insecurity, boy, how fast they fly out the window when we grab a bottle. It's just ignorant and unempathetic to say that alcoholics (or other addicts) are selfish, choosing the addiction over them, self-centered or carefree/careless. It may very much seem like only the bottle is what matters to them, but underneath the surface the fact is they thought they could patch up mental problems and pain with liquor and coulnd't find the way out of that tunnel before getting trapped in there. Addicts are like lost souls, ghosts of what they used to be, and the person behind that veil needs to get back on trail.

After listening to a number of the recovery stories from famous and people we consider accomplished, it shows that alcoholism is not selective. I've been sober for 6yrs now,,I didn't follow a program of have assistance, I just felt a fear like no other from looking at what I was doing and it stopped me dead,,and I never took another drink. I believe in many things but none are stronger than a higher power which helped me to stop. 1st and foremost a person has to stop for themselves,,,stopping g for someone else wont do it for you.
I've come back to this to say...when I felt the need to stop...I completely cut out the people I used to drink with, I said I was struggling and could not see or speak to them for the time being, because I associated them with drinking. I could only buy drink from one place where I live, so, I went in there and asked them to refuse to sell me any alcohol, told them why , and they were great,,(i didnt attempt to,,but the safety net was there).... i started walking a different route when out with my dog, I basically changed everything that I used to do. I bought a slate heart and every day I would mark down 1...2...3 and so on as the days mounted up...and I just focused on these things, I did nothing In the way i used to do and saw no one who i used to drink with at all in any way...Its nearly 7yrs now...But the biggest thing i did was ...i was kind to me...i didnt put any guilt on myself for what i had done...i became proud of me , my inner strength to get through it , and i laughed as much as i could...❤❤❤❤❤

Very dull and boring. The guy has had an amazing life but didn't share any of that or any true emotion. So far the story sounds like your family story
Yeah Buzz isn't the best speaker, but I respect him.
Buzz!
Buzz!
Wow a lot of people suffer from addiction
50% of daily hospital beds…🤘✨
Is this why Neil wouldn’t talk about the moon
Who knows soberholic, I like your name tho 🤘✨
Dudes dry af but when he talks about being insecure...
It hits different.
True that @cjackfly
It’s sad what drugs alcohol does to the community you would think some of this powerful and famous would not but it takes all kinds to make the world some dishwashers the mechanics the I was in attic two months clean astronauts even the best thing get up in the morning and thank God for what you got I was an attic two months clean😇Don’t know why name born at that timeI was in a abusive situation

Nice
Thanks Nick
Aa program works
Agreed 🤘✨
How about the anonymity ❤️
Buzz can say that he's an alcoholic, but he can't say that you're an alcoholic, and vice versa, according to the AA anonymity statement! ❤
@@SoberJames Thank you for your answer ❣️
I am a NA member and maybe we do things a little different . Thank you for letting me take part of all the wonderful speakers ❤️❤️❤️
Not much difference. These celebs, and other speakers, generously release the recordings to help others. I'm just carrying the message. I'm sure NA has recordings too!
@@SoberJames
NA speakers do recordings but the differens is that we only use our first name and we never ever show our faces in recordings, just for the audience in speakermeetings.
We are addicts not titels or occupations. That's the point of Anonymity ❤️
AA is supposed to do the same according to the traditions.
Breaking Tradition
Carrying the message.
I'm doing sobriety
Keep it up 🤘✨
Yay!!!!!🎉
Glad you’re excited @williamnefferson317
Stop by for a live stream, 9pmET every weeknight. ✌️
Sorry. I dont believe the moon legend but I am happy our space traveler got sober.
Moon legend?
@@SoberJames yes. I can't believe they landed on the moon. Good reasons too. Hush hush and never went back!
@@SoberJames but i believe in the 12 steps and a persons right to their own interpretation. It was alcohol destroying my life. Not weed. Not mushrooms. Not sugar. Etc.
Well that’s all that matters 🤘✨
If i faked landing on the moon i would have drank too
Your Mom wasn’t faking.
Is this real
Why would you insult Millenials, I thought AA was about compassion?
It's a joke, and you're demonstrating the point of the punchline.
This one was boring and just him bragging. Meh.
Yeah, it’s hit or miss with the personalities of alcoholics. I guess that’s why they say focus on principles, not personalities.
@@SoberJames very true indeed… i too am flawed so im sure some would have some comments on my personality at times. Love your channel by the way…. Thanks for posting… i listen to these on my runs and i love what you share. So thank you for putting it all out there!
@@yonta123 awe, thank you Tonya. Enjoy your rubbers high, I’m sure you’ve earned it.
IOP I'm doing also and aa program
Good. Keep it up 👍
Big Brother are you there?
New phone, who dis?
The Chinaman is not the issue here.
But he did take my legs in Korea!
The Dude abides.
Shame he never went to the moon. Must of played a massive part in his alcoholism. God bless him
Your mom went to the moon, last night 🚀
1 corinthians 15 1~4
I have a bestie that should chair for u. Hmu. I don't want to give away a anonymous man let's just say he produces rock n roll
I have never drenk but im thinking of starting.
Buzz never went to the moon
Your mom went to the moon last night.
@@SoberJames Didn't Jackie Gleason say that ?
@@anarchyxtra7795 lol probably actually
Its probably tea but why do you have what looks like beer front and center in your video?
Don't you think that's rude and unnecessary?
It is tea, in a mason jar, with ice. You do have a point tho, about it looking like beer. I'll keep that in mind for the future.
One of the main pillars is honesty. Buzz, you did not land on the moon, so your story is a lie.
Your mom’s a liar.
Not a very charismatic guy
"My mother was half SCOTCH"?!!😱Horror!!😱...
"Scotch" is WHISKY from Scotland (yes the alcoholic sort) - a native from Scotland is "Scottish" or a "Scot"...
Any Scotland-born person takes offence at this mistake
grow up already
Very dull and boring. The guy has had an amazing life but didn't share any of that or any true emotion. I showed this to a treatment center and looking around the room everyone was either miserable or fighting off sleep. You think a guy that spent so much time in the public eye could tell a good story.
That's funny I said that range 4 thing. I have Danny Trejo and Craig T. Nelson on here. They're pretty good.
@@SoberJames I'll check out Danny Trejo for next week. I've heard him tell parts of his story in interviews and it was really good and told well. Thanks!
Thanks Greg! Hey, I stream live videos, Mon-Thursday at noon and 9pmEST, and all past streams are available in my live stream playlist.
I also host a 24/7 Discord Recovery Chat room and weekly Zoom meetings here: www.patreon.com/soberjames
I wonder if buzz admitted the moon landing is fake when he did step5
I wonder what it's like to be so clueless.
@@SoberJames lol better write that resentment out and call yo sponsor
Lol oh I'm not mad, it's hilarious
That's a good one about the 5th step I mean if he relapses and spills the beans who will believe an alcoholic 🤣
