2013 Honda Accord Sport 0-60 MPH Drive & Review

- ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Honda Accord is all new. It is bigger, more fuel efficient and more ready to take on cars like the new Toyota Camry. For 2013 the Honda Accord is available with a 4 or a 6 cylinder engine. It can also be had with a 6-speed manual transmission or a new CVT. In this review we test and review the 4 cylinder manual model to see how this family Honda has improved. What TFLcar review would be complete without a mile high 0-60 MPH test to determine how fast the car accelerates.
"Then one day you see that girl in the right light and you say i would do that!" Lol funny as hell
+Trd Jason IKR
he made me laugh
I have a '14 . Just a great car. 80,000 miles and zero issues.
The six speed is awesome.
same me too i have a 2014 honda accord lx how many miles u got now
I purchased this exact model and color Accord sport except I have the automatic CVT. I have had it for 9 weeks and it is a amazing good quality car. One of the best values for the money in today's high priced car market.
+thomas4776 I know it has been a while that you have had the car now. What's your overall experience with it and would you recommend it? Thanks for the input!
+Cesar I. Get a faster car if you like driving fast. I got this car at age 19 and I regret not buying the mustang
Cesar I.
Still a great car, fun to drive and no issues.
+eli li the accord coupe is a fast car 😁😁😁 don't listen to him ceaser you'll get made fun of if you drive a mustang unless it's the 2016 model 😁😁
Well thanks for all the input guys !!! I'm still trying to get this car and currently saving for a nice down payment. I test drove the CVT sport and I thought it was powerful enough and had a smooth ride.
I am in the same boat..... I have 07 Accord 4cyl 5speed stick. 118k miles, never had a single issue besides replacing a battery and oil changes. I haven't even changed spark plugs and the car still runs like the day it rolled off the showroom floor
Thanks for the kind words about our video. Very much appreciated!
Honda Accord Sport V6 w/ sunroof and leather why didn't Honda do this?
My parents have had all of the accords from 1994-2006 and they've always loved them
Great suggestion. We'll think about it.
Best intro I've ever seen for this car.
The V6 version of this car is a BEAST. V6 stock auto can 0-60 in 5 seconds flat and has great sound
I just got 2017 Accord sport. I from Hamilton ONT so at sea level and i got 7.2 0-100 km/h with paddle shifts CVT.
7.5 with my 2016 6 speed
Are you at the sea level. Any ways anything below 8 is amazing for accord
Your gonna like it! Got mine with 6MT and lots of fun whipping it. The only con for me is it only comes in with 4 speakers, which isn't great and no HD radio. I recommend getting after market speakers.
I feel ya, only 4 speakers 😢 sound systems, it's not good..
I have the exact same car 6spd MT and its a joy to drive, getting 28-33 mpg consistently, the fit and finish is excellent
1:40 is why I love watching your new videos everyday
From a 2004 Accord EX-L 5MT owner, I was very happy to find your review of the manual. Some will say that a manual is no fun in traffic. On the contrary, I believe it keeps you more engaged. I've put 205,000 on mine with plenty of city miles. A CVT cannot recreate the experience and control of a manual, so just "buy the damn thing for real". LOL, but 100% agreed. Honda is known for their manual transmissions. What a great way to experience it.
I own the same car but with the CVT transmission., and I hated CVT until I took this car for a test drive. It doesn't feel like a CVT transmission. I used to own a 07 EX-L V6 Automatic, and I really like the Accord Sport. No complains so far.
I test drove a 2013 Accord Sport 6 speed last Saturday after watching the other Accord video you guys uploaded. All I can say is wow. I am very picky when it comes to cars, but that Accord was extremely nice. The 6 speed is so smooth. The passengers would feel like they are in an automatic car.
No. When we say "Lease it" we are suggesting that you sample the vehicle for a longer time than renting, without the stigma of buying. This way you get a chance to see if you wish to live with it long term.
Really nice to see the smiles on your guys face when doing review on the accord! Keep it up
We've already reviewed the Mazda6
This channel is great. Very informative, not to mention that you guys are very entertaining and hilarious.
I'm not trying to patronize, it just that everyone I've heard use the "manuals suck in traffic" argument either didn't know how to drive a manual at all, or drove one a way that made it unnecessarily difficult for themselves.
There's lots of ways to make traffic driving easier that most people don't do, like letting the car creep with just the clutch out (no gas) in 1st, shifting into neutral as much as possible, or starting in 2nd to avoid repeated 1-2 shifts.
I bought mine about 3 month ago. I have a 6 speed MT which was really hard to find in LA. All I have to say is that I love the way it handles and I look forward to drive it every single day...
thanks for reviewing this Accord sport model. I really like this car myself and maybe purchasing the model in the future.
2013 Honda Accord is the "Bang For The Bucks". In this kind of sluggish economy, it is definitely a buy with 0.9% financing. Honda is a brand for those who likes to keep the car for over 8 years. Mazda 6 on the other hand is contemporary and has its own vibe and pretty to look at but there is a catch. Apparently, buyers switch sooner to buy a new car after driving Mazda 6 for 2-3 years. I don't know if its psychological or the fancy attractive material they use which just fades away gradually.
You guys have fun reviews, I just watched an AutoGuide review and actually finding other things to do than watch the review. But always I look for another review to watch on your channel.
Hey guys really enjoyed your enthusiastic review of the Honda Accord and your obvious happiness while making this video... .It's nice to see someone getting into their job and doing it with a smile....=) I personally have a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 that has 190,000 miles on it and I'm going to drive it until the thing blows up....then go and buy a new one....Take care...
A suggestion for you folks. How about you guys pick the best commentator for your reviews every month or week and send a TFL T-shirt to the winner?
If you want a "lab perfect" 0-60 test, there are at least 15 other magazines/blogs/reviewers giving you exactly that for this and every other car they test. Roman and Nathan are the only ones doing anything different and providing a useful metric on acceleration for the rest of us.
I love the fact that you included outtakes!
WHATS WITH THE QUALLITY?
WHEN THEY MOVE THERE ARMS ITS LIKE THE SPECIAL EFFECTS HAVE MIXED IN
I am not sure why people are complaining about the 0-60 test. They did it under these conditions and this is what they came up with. What is the problem? No really what is the problem?
No. You can get a company to install leather upholstery. It is very high quality. Pop onto driveaccord forums if you have any questions!
Driving a car with a proper manual with a clutch, its has become a lost art.
Nathan, why would you point out that the Accord's rear looks like the Genesis Sedan? Did you forget that the original Genesis' design was based off the Mercedes E Class?
Hyundai themselves even competed advertising against Mercedes. They put them side-by-side in advertisements.
Not only that. but the Genesis' front end took some design queues from Mercedes as well.
I'm not bashing on Hyundai or Honda, but we have to be aware of who deserves design credits.
Cars tend to accelerate a lot slower on higher elevations. The 4 cylinder accord is typically rated at around 7 secs 0 to 60.
Here's the irony of your comment. We believe that in fact we are the only ones providing "real 0-60" MPH Test. Not everyone lives at sea level. The car magazines and manufactures post completely unrealistic 0-60 MPH times using almost perfect conditions. We're sorry that our times are slow...but perhaps that's because they represent the real world..the way most people live and drive.
I would still take the Mazda 6, but this Honda is a compelling option. The Mazda is easier on the eyes and gives you better cornering feel.
When you say would you buy it lease it rent it or forget it what factors are you considering? Are you considering that leasing a car is essentially throwing your money away?
Wish they would have reviewed the 6MT Accord V6 Coupe, not concerned at all about 4-cylinders. Great to know that they are testing cars at a mile above sea level. I live at 7200ft. elevation, so these reviews are fairly relevant
Very solid car. People say only poor people drive does I beg to differ. I bank $185k a year wouldnt trade my Honda for anything. I do own an nsx s2000. Those are my toys. The wife dives the accord mostly
185k after taxes aint that much after taxes, especially if you have a family in an expensive area with high living cost and have kids in college
ewtubewatcher That's a big if. There are relatively few truly expensive areas in the US (eg. Manhattan or Beverly Hills). And maybe this guy doesn't have children. In any case, $185,000 is still over four times the median income in the United States.
The point is that even if you can afford something better, the Accord is a good option simply because of how well it's designed. Honda doesn't make the most powerful cars or the most stylish, but they know how to put together an all-around well-designed vehicle.
+ewtubewatcher 😑 $185k per year is a lot especially if you live in the south
I'm with you guys right-up until your final verdict. Hey Honda, how about you offer the Sport trim with the V-6 & a manual transmission?!?! Since that isn't an option, I say "Forget it!"
you guys are seriously the best
The MSRP is $24,180 but you can get it for around $21,000 at end of month. Out the door price should come under MSRP if bargained right.
This Accord doesn't look at all like the Genesis. The Japanese would never copy South Korean design, engineering and quality. There's a lot of frustration in Japan because of Korean copy cats. They love to copy everything outside of their country. Just go to South Korea and see for yourself. Big shocker!
FYI Fellas. Something I have noticed on your videos. When I set the quality to 1080p HD, hand gestures or anything "quick" tend to pixelate. And, it's only on your videos that this happens.
My comp is a intel i7 core + ATi 7xxx series so it is pretty current.
I just bought an EX CVT on 5-9-13. On my first road trip on 2 lane roads with speed imits of 55 mph & 45 mph the trip computer told me my mileage was 43.5 mpg
Do you still have the Accord, how has it done?
But I've thought that this car looked good from the start, the look definitely didn't have to grow on me
i know I am kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
@Lawrence Ezequiel flixportal
@Enrique Zakai Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it!
@Lawrence Ezequiel no problem xD
In addition to the comments about the TAIL LIGHTS: I really think the front end and back end look very similar to the 6th Gen Accords with some updated contour/styling in the tail lights as opposed to the Hyundai Genesis... Front grill looks very similar to the '98-'02 Accords as well. Very clean looking. Likable.
Awesome review. Well done.
The exterior dimensions are actually smaller than the 8th Gen. Yet Honda magic was able to make the interior more spacious.
I wish The Fast Lane Car would review the new 2013 Honda Accord Hybrid which became available in October 2013 in the U.S.A. It gets 50+ MPG and drives like an electric racer.
Review the 2013 Accord coupe V6
well...I can see you guys are improving on the comedy! "i'd do that" Kudos! Love your reviews! take care.
No, plus the 2.5L and TDI are within half a second o each other 0-60 anyways.
Google "vw passat motor trend first test", click the first result. The article has the 0-60 times of all the Passat models. You can also look up Car and Driver's recent family sedan test, where they got 7.7s 0-60 for the CVT Accord and 8.8s for the Passat.
Results vary obviously, but in every official test, the CVT Accord is at least 1 second faster to 60 than the Passat, and the 6MT is around 2 seconds faster.
I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX-ULEV and I love mine! I have multiple mods that gives me a great boost of power! 2.3L says it all ;D
Speaking of hondas. I have a suggestion for a modern collectible. Either the last gen prelude or the s2000. I've owned both and both are great fun and no longer produced :-(
I just hope to god they still offer the manual Accord in a couple of years, because everyone knows you never buy the first year model. So Honda PLEASE DON'T GET RID OF THE MANUAL!
I don't know exactly what I'll need in a few years, but I think the Accord would do most of it. Great interior, not too heavy for size, nice engine, transmission, and suspension. Only reason not to buy it would be if you legitimately needed AWD and ground clearance but wanted to keep the mileage/fun to drive (in which case my choice would be the CX-5 w/ the larger engine or maybe Outback).
Why is the Sport 4hp more that all the other versions of the 4 cyl. ???
Is there chipmunks running on the insode of the wheels ?
I just can't decide between this and an Optima ... Maybe if I try the coupe ...
i have a honda accord 07, its been said that model is the largest inside 06-07. I guess the newer one is even larger. Its a good car!!
I found out (very happily) that the Limited (leather, lane watch, all the gizmos) also comes in a 6MT in canada - You have to order it though!
Maybe you can import it.
The Sport in Canada comes in White, Grey, Black or Blue.
Touring 6MT (no dual exhaust, but loaded) Comes in Black Grey or White.
I REALLY wish they put the LED DRL's in the Sport! its such a sporty look - silly that they'd omit it.
It still looks like a Genesis - I am only referring to the vehicle I am reviewing... but I see your point.
I am confused between accord and superb which 1 should I buy.....???
And yes petrol variant
Roman, Nathan, could you guys do a video explaining why you like manual transmissions? Is the stick still worth it when dual-clutch autos can shift faster than any human? Do you think the stick shift will become extinct?
I'm a 20-something with a manual Scion xB if you can imagine that, and I think there's something appealing about putting a stick shift in an otherwise mundane car.
Can you make a review of THE honda accord coupe V6 with the manual transmission? I had some comments about what wonderfull machine it is, but I want a professionnal opinion.
Answer to Nathan's challenge: VW Passat. Sorry, but quality is more than the interior, try closing the doors and listening to the sound they make - try looking at the attention to small details - It's very difficult to match VW, and this Accord is still a notch below the Passat / Passat CC.
I subbed for the "I'd do that" comment :D
And the real crime is that Honda only gives you the choice of two colors if you want the Accord Sport with a 6 speed manual gearbox. I would own a white one except they force you to "settle" with the CVT in that color. Guess I'll have to "stick" with my 2004 Acura TSX 6sp. Come on Honda, don't forget those of us that have supported you all these years buying M/T cars!!!
In Australia and New Zealand we don't get the new Honda Accord with a CVT ;-(
New Ford Fusion for me, but the v6 Accord Sport is also very tempting.
The tail lights do resemble the ones on the genesis, but I also see remnants of the 98-02 accord tail lights. If I saw these taillights on their own unbranded before I saw the car, I would think they belong to an accord, something about them just says accord to me.
I have the 2013 Accord Sport. It would be nice if Honda add a Sunroof on this model.
I had a sunroof on every car I ever owned prior to the 2016 sport - it had issues on all of them, leaks, grinds, uneven fit, etc...
Actually they did in 2017 accord sport.
+TAIMOOR T Actually, they didn't.
I have a 2017 accord sport and it has sunroof, carplay, push start etc. I'm in canada though maybe it's different in states.
I can send you pics later on if you want.
You guys should do a review of the Accord Coupe EX manual.
It would be nice if they made a review for the Honda accord coupe.
Really it's about personal preference; I loved driving manuals in my early 20's when my commute didn't involve city traffic and 25 mph suburban neighborhoods with a multitude of stop signs. Now they just annoy me in the 90% of driving that's not the twisties, so I own two automatics. The acceleration/fuel economy advantage is nearly gone in most models too; the manual obsession to me is almost like hanging on to drum brakes or "crank-to-start."
Thank you for this!!! Definitely my next car - Movin on up from my 2007 mazda3 2.0L 5MT Sedan
Regarding the "Mile above sea level" you should get Destin (vsauce) to do a video on Altitude vs Oxygen/gas expansion and its effects on the power a car produces.
OR really show the difference by getting a mobile Dyno, and testing two cars (NA and Turbo) at sea level, then up at a Mile High - that way you can have a sure way of knowing how much power is being robbed due to the thinner atmosphere
Great review
Was this with or without the eco buttom on? If it is off and still getting 10.5s that is scary, but it felt faster to me. Although my elevation is 1,400ft ASL.
I have a 2013 honda accord sport and its a wonderful car.
I love the video but can i do a 0to 60 review on the 2013 accord exl v6 please would love to see that thanks
So how does this car compare to the beautiful new mazda 6
you guys should do an accord coupe review.
Awesome. Thanks for posting this.
I really like new Accord. Standard features are plenty for my needs, just add fog lights and some rubber mats and go with 6 speed stick.
does Nathan fit? or did i miss that part? :)
Do a matchup of the 2013 Toyota sienna and the 2013 Chrysler Town&Country! My request.
Ditto. I also like the Bluetooth (iphone music and pandora too) with NO GPS.
I can't seem to find a video like this for the Touring which has more HP than the sport
I wonder how fast is my 06 CTS-V at location you guys test your cars.
215,000 miles on my 1999 Accord EX. About time for another timing belt and water pump. Trying to get 300,000 out of it.
y'all didnt ever post a 0-60 video for kia sorento.
Just curious...why do you test at 1 mile above sea level?
where I am in Canada, I'm at sea level and I can, multiple times achieve 6 seconds for my rx-8 where magazines say it hits between 5.9-6.3 seconds. Even with automatic cars I get better than most car magazines... all you need is a flat smooth road, how hard is that? the only thing that isn't 'real' is that you're a mile above sea level, most of us are under that!
THIS FELT LIKE A COMMERCIAL
Cool video.
You guys are the best! Thanks :D
What's with the led lights??
Can you guys do a comparo between this and the Mazda 6 Touring manual (which is now available)?
would u please test chevy caprice ppv 0-60 test .
