I'm an old fart but I had two gen 3 Cars one was an 87 and the other was an 89 and both of them we put a ton of miles on and never had any trouble.my wife commuted back and forth to nursing school and put a billion miles on it and both of these cars had five speeds in them. And when I was in the Air Force in Guam I brought back a new 84 CRX and that was kind of special😊
I miss my old '97 Accord Special Edition. It was a damn good car. Traveled from Atlanta, GA to Cali 4 times cross country. It was the Plum color with the option "vinyl" tan seats, sunroof and the Honda CD player. Mine had the OEM rear decklid spoiler as well. It had 400,000 miles on it when I got rid of it.
My daily driver is a 97 Accord Wagon LX. It only has 🎉245,000 on it but it looks pretty ragged and needs some paint. 😮 I've been putting money into it but it definitely is an older car and I'm skeptical whether I will have it much longer I'm 62 years old and I grew up driving a new CRX is in 84 and stuff like that so I really miss the old Hondas😢
Just found this channel. As a Honda fan still driving my '95 Civic, this is great. That blue 1982 Accord sedan was my first car. 162K miles when I got it, 266K miles when I sold it. You should do a video on Honda's malaise era (~2000s-2016) when Honda ergonomics, interior quality, and driving dynamics were slaughtered by the bean counters.
I've owned a 6th gen coupe EX, a 4th gen lx coupe 5 speed, and now a 9.5 gen touring v6 coupe. I'll always love Accords, it's just unfortunate that there are no sporty models anymore. I think if they had an Si/Type R model and gave it proper advertising, we would still have sporty Accords today. Anyways, I'll keep my 9th gen for as long as I can. I'll probably end up buying many more Accords in the future lol.
Also, Honda bows down to the ‘non cultured’ majority due to profit reasons and let that happen. Sort of like movies and music nowadays. So, is win win 😢
It's just not a practical thing to use in the city to always shift manually but they should at least come with a manual option on the website while customizing your Accord
The fourth gen is my all time favorite. I still see one on the road once in a blue. My first brand new car was a ‘16 ninth gen after the facelift. The next day, my wife and I brought our newborn son home from the hospital in it. Have had another Accord and two CR-V’s since and I’ve been happy with all of them! I’m a Honda guy through and through!
Great show Sir ! I remember the first generation Accords back in the day and I always preferred sedans over a crossover in which I would probably buy a Accord and Camry over a crossover from Honda and Toyota .
It wasn’t until after I finished this video I realized you only have 4k subs, very surprising given how well this content is made and how easily digestible it is. You did a great job on this video pal. I’ll be subbing and watching some more, I love this format as well
I own lunar silver ‘16 9.5 EX currently paying off the car. Got it at 14k now has 154k . My goal s to bag it and keep it clean . Thank you For the content and Honda.
Awesome breakdown of an awesome car. Aside from a short stint with a Civic Si, every car I’ve owned has been a fully loaded variant of an Accord, from my 6th Gen V6, to my 7th Gen K24 manual, to my current 9th Gen V6. When my 9th Gen is paid off, I plan to add a 10th Gen 2.0 6MT to that list. Unfortunately, unless some significant styling changes are made for the 11th Gen in the refresh, that 10th Gen will be my last.
I love that you brought up the 6th gen transmission problems as it is the reason you almost never see 6th gen + Accords, preludes, odyssey, and a number of Acuras that were as common as dog hair when they were newer but have since vanished to the automotive grave yard to be transformed into razor blades, soda bottles, etc. They aren't invincible cars.
Well done! I've now watched 2 of your evolution videos and they are great. I know you only do honda/acura but would be great if you did other brands. As an '80s baby i fondly remember the 90s Accords, especially late 90s/00s, those with the V6 were rockets.
Awesome video! Really well put together! I remember my grandma bought a 98' Accord EX Sedan brand new off the lot to replace her and my grandpas 86' Cadillac haha. She had that car FOREVER, right up until she passed. It only had 60,000 miles on it! 🤯 I wanted to buy it so bad but had no place to store it so we decided to sell it, it sold in TWO DAYS! The car had a few offers but we sold it to a guy who lived in her neighborhood who approached us and BEGGED to buy it, Said he had seen the car all these years in front of her house and was somewhat of a Honda collector and had been looking forever for an original untouched Accord with low miles. My grandma only ever drove it around town and to the store. So funny how after 25 years that car held its value and had multiple people interested 🤣 Anyway, that was long but I had to share! Awesome vid and really love your channel! Keep up the great work! 💯
I have a 1980 Honda accord 1.6 el engine here on England She's on 60k and just had a brand new weber 38 fitted. She's a dream an drives 300 mile trips an back no issues
The 8th gen is my personal favorite If the 2010 Honda Inspire v6 came in a left hand drive i would've bought it. And also the 2013-2017 Accord v6 hybrid Fully loaded are my favourite.
The 3rd gen SE-i coupe looks so good it’s pretty much an Acura Legend coupe. 4th gen looks good too when it’s slightly lowered on some nice, subtle wheels. The 9th and 10th gen Accord Sports are pretty dope too but idk wtf they were doing with the 11th. But the 5th gen is and will always be my favorite for some reason. When I think Accord, I think 5th gen.
The 88 coup was the car that my parents surprised me with for graduation and I have finally pased it down to my daughter . Did not want to let her go . But the 2024 for is just breath taking had to get 😍
The 5th generation Accord is definitely my favorite. It’s ride/handling characteristics are sublime. It’s handsome and distinctive without being overstyled. The interior is roomy, stylish and comfortable. What’s not to like?
In my family, we have owned every generation Accord except for the 1st, 7th and 9th generations. My current car is a '21 Accord Touring 2.0T, which happens to be my second 10th gen Accord, of which both have been 2.0T models. The 10th gen is also my favorite of all the Accord generations. People who never owned the 10th gen with the 2.0T engine truly missed out on an amazing car. It is so good at just about everything. I wouldn't even remotely consider replacing my '21 with the extremely bland and weak '23 model. What a colossal disappointment that car is. I wouldn't even mind the bland design so much if Honda hadn't nixed the 2.0T. I wish they had dropped the 1.5T engine, offered the hybrid as their primary engine and offered the 2.0T for those of us who actually prefer better performance. I've owned 11 Hondas and 8 Acuras. I've driven nothing else since 1985 when I got my first Honda. When I replace my '21, (which will likely be a while), I will very likely leave Honda. I do not like the direction they're heading in. As a Honda loyalist all these years, when I look at the '23 model, I'm almost embarrassed for Honda.
As an owner of an 07 I can’t see it, it’s a little too round. But I think they look, especially with the refresh, a lot like a 1999-2005 Lexus is300, or a 2008-2012 Chevy Malibu
I wish you would have mentioned or make a video about how in the 7th 8th and 9th generation Accord Coupes V6 you could get something called in hfp Honda Factory performance package!!!!!!! I myself have a seventh-generation 2004 V6 6 speed manual Accord coupe with the hfp package with every single possible option you could get when they were brand-new the hfp package comes with a front lip rear lip side skirts spoiler bigger wider Wheels bigger brake package lowered suspension from the factory strip bars sway bars leather heated seats carbon fiber look-alike pieces on the interior I WILL SAY IT COMPLETELY CHAGES THE LOOK!!!!!!! I myself have always been a owner and fan of your typical Golden Era Hondas 90s Civics integra's CRX Honda S2000 xcetera but something about the Honda Accord V6 coupe in the 7th 8th and 9th generation but especially the Seventh Generation if I park next to another Accord V6 coupe and it does not have the hfp package you wouldn't even think they were the same car parked next to each other I mean it actually makes the Accord look quite aggressive and much much much more sporty I've had multiple other Accord owners come up to me and ask me what I've done to get my car to look like this and when I tell them that it's all OEM on the outside of other than the fact that I changed out the OEM lowered suspension for aftermarket coil overs to drop it down just a little bit more then they're shocked that you could have bought one looking the way mine does I just never see anybody that makes accord videos talk about the rare hfp package I know that for each particular generation of the 7th 8th and 9th I think they only made 500 hfp Coupes for each generation or 500 altogether I can't remember pretty rare I love mine it's only got 60K original miles is all original on the exterior other than being a little lower the rest of the money I have put into refreshing everything suspension and under the hood but also I have added cold air intake j-pipe AKA a header and pre cat deletes 2.5 inch Cat-Back exhaust bigger 3.7 intake manifold and throttle body to match ported and Polished intake Runners intake manifold spacer throttle body spacer and an Acura TL ECU so that I was able to tune it with hondata on the dyno making around 300 HP at the wheels is perfect for a daily driver I have a 1995 Civic Coupe it is my Built track car with a K24 block and K20 head But the hfp Accord is the perfect balance between luxury and a sporty look and I have pissed off plenty of other Honda owners also bigger V6 like 350Z and 370Z other Mustang and Camaros that make anywhere from 3 to 400 HP and even Challenger and Charger RT and this is only the 3.0 engine with these mods I plan to eventually do a 3.7 L engine swap out of the Acura TL sh all-wheel-drive
I actually had kinda forgotten about the HFP package its been so long since Ive seen one, in fact I dont think Ive ever seen a 7th gen HFP, yours sounds pretty cool. I do remember the 8 and 9th gen HFP and you are right they look really different and much improved. Im definitly a 90s era kinda guy when it comes to my favourite cars and I daily my 99 integra, but if I was to get a more modern car I think a 9th gen V6 manual accord coupe would be awsome (especially if it had HFP package!) . Thanks for sharing your insights!
I have 2 units of 2nd Gen Accord ... one is fully manufactured original Japan cvcc and the other one is usdm imported material and local assembled type non cvcc engine ....
Since 2010 I have owned a I4 Accord it's the best it is the best it was A LX but better than Ex not even my 2020 Nissan Pathfinder can't beat it greatness just a 🗿
I had an 89 lx in high school. Pretty decent car for what i paid for it. Ive had multiple family members with 3rd-5th gen accords achieve over 200k miles with little maintenance. Currently i have a 17 sport 2.4 for my wife and its been a great car. Coming up on 80k miles and all ive down to it is fluids and tires and spark plugs. Cant complain at all.
I been Driving Honda's Accords Since 1989, My First was 1988 Blk Acccord HatchBack LXI 5spd, 2nd 1991 Accord EX 4door & 93 EX 5spd, My all Favorite Accords are 1990 to 1993 and 2008 to 2012 4th & 8th Gens, The Gen 8 is the Modern Day of the CB7s , I'M stuck in 8th Gen Accords, the Last great Accord, K24 Motor, last of the Gathered Leather Seats Trim, 4 wheel wishbone Suspension, Last Simple to Work on accord no Direct Injection
I know you’re mostly talking about North American accords. But the 5th gen accord did feature the H22 in its SiR trim in Japan. And all coupes and wagons were built in Ohio and shipped to other countries…include the RHD SiR models
I could be wrong but the 7th & 8th gen accords in the US and Canada were Honda inspires, then the japanese accord was rebadged as a Acura TLX I think this was done because the inspire was bigger then again I may be wrong
What’s your thoughts on the new Accord’s interior? IMO, I like the interior better than the new Sonata and K5 due to better ergonomics (e.g. HVAC is all-physical buttons), and it ties with new Camry
Nowadays, due to CAFE constraints, it’s impossible to use the powertrain to differentiate your product from competitors. For this reason, the Camry doesn’t have a V6 anymore and didn’t even replace it with their 2.4T. So Honda must look at some other field for differentiation. One thing Honda masters when compared to Koreans and Subaru for example is that they have not jumped on the capacitive/touchscreen HVAC bandwagon. My suggestion for Honda to differentiate from all rivals is to make a wagon version, and I mean a wagon that’s proud to be a wagon, not some cladded wannabe SUV that fails to differentiate itself from a Crown Signia.
I love Honda but I don’t have the best luck with them. I’ve had 3. But the 99 coupe V6 was by far the worst of the bunch. Every common problem happened in 3 year ownership. I swore off Honda till I drove a 21 Accord Sport. Beautiful looking car.
I owned 8th and 9th generation Accords, along with two Civics. The 8th generation, I loved because of the body style and the roominess of the vehicle. A 4 cylinder motor in the 8th generation and a V6 in the 9th. I just traded in my 9th generation w/262,000 because the automatic tranny was becoming problematic. I ended up getting a 23 Pilot. I have driven nothing but Honda since 95 and have been a Honda fan since the 85 Accord. However, when Honda discontinued the V6 in 17, I was done with the Accord. Additionally, I can’t stand the exclusion of the 4 cylinder 2.2 or 2.4 motors in the Accord. The turbo motors do not last and the 1.5, 4 cylinder motor is too much of a dummying down of power. I understand the importance of the hybrid motor but I still think the consumer should have the option for a higher output 4 cylinder motor or a V6. I purchased the Pilot mainly because it still has the V6 motor. I was this close to switching allegiance and going to Toyota and the V6 Camry. IMO, after test driving a Camry, the pickup was slow and the Honda still seemed sportier than the Camry. In closing, I think you did a great job with the video. A nice walk down memory lane seeing the 80s- early 2000 Accords.
Timing belts are supposed to be changed at regular intervals though, they are a maintanence item, but many people ignore them and thats when they become an issue. So I would disagree that they are cancer. Some of Honda's auto transmissions tho...different story, total cancer.
My favorites are the 3rd, 5th Specifically the '96-'97 model years, because the tail lights look better, the 6th gen " 2002 " year, anf 7th gen 2006- 2007 years. The 11th gen is just boring, all the new Hondas now look the same.
the facelifted 9th gen accord with the v6 just does it for me
The 8th and 9th generations were the best ones for me.
@@madero-jb5ri yeah my 2012 with a v6 hauls ass and i haven't done much to it at all
i have a 1986 honda accord hatchback. that thing is really fun to drive and it looks amazing too. love the third gen hatchbacks
3rd gen hatch is my favourite Accord!

Great idea! I plan to do that at some point.
Their malaise era was from 2012-2018. 2019 was the year they started to bring back physical buttons.
The 80s was a great time for Hondas and when I was in the Air Force in Guam I brought back a new 84 CRX. Definitely not a fast car but a fun car
I've owned a 6th gen coupe EX, a 4th gen lx coupe 5 speed, and now a 9.5 gen touring v6 coupe. I'll always love Accords, it's just unfortunate that there are no sporty models anymore. I'm not upset that Honda doesn't make a manual Accord anymore. I'm upset that people who buy a new Accord don't want a manual.
The 4th and 6th gen were my faves!❤

I had an 85 SE-i and that engine was the smoothest engine i've ever encountered. It had a lot of features and was fun to drive.

Thats a pretty awsome Accord fleet you've had!
I visited a junk yard in 2018-ish. It was mostly Honda Odusseys with blown transmissions. Still see tons of them today there.
I like the 11th generation! Had a 91 accord and a 96 accord loved them all.
The 5th gen and the Acura legend are my favorite cars to this day!

I'm currently looking for any accord powered by the k series engine, so I'm looking for either a 7th gen or 8th gen
6 gen.Lx v6 Accord- BEST!!!!
2:35 I wonder if anyone notices that the new accord is like a tribute to the 82 nose panel.
Ive owned 2 1990 accords a 1999 civic and a 2008 civic
Nothing compares to my current 87 3rd gen accord sedan
The first four generations were epic. Everything since just one disappointment after another.
I would love an LXI hatch! Those are my fav. It was all downhill after direct injection imo
Rip 2.0t, v6, and coupe
I know you’re mostly talking about North American accords. But the 5th gen accord did feature the H22 in its SiR trim in Japan. And all coupes and wagons were built in Ohio and shipped to other countries…include the RHD SiR models
This is correct information. The Japanese Accords got the US Prelude H22 190 HP engines.
I could be wrong but the 7th & 8th gen accords in the US and Canada were Honda inspires, then the japanese accord was rebadged as a Acura TLX I think this was done because the inspire was bigger then again I may be wrong
Accord has been looking like a jelly bean for a while
now lol
Man I just want to build my 97 accord cuz I got the h22 in but I have kids
Sounds like a great family activity to me!
I want an '89 Accord SEi manual sedan!
me too!
What’s your thoughts on the new Accord’s interior? IMO, I like the interior better than the new Sonata and K5 due to better ergonomics (e.g. HVAC is all-physical buttons), and it ties with new Camry
I don't mind it, I like the physical HVAC controls, they have a good feel to them. I do think its too similar to the Civic interior though.
No mention of the hybrids?
I'm disappointed you didn't show the 9.5 gen accord.
They’re pretty much the exact same as the 9th gen other than a slight appearance difference and newer tech.
My dad had the 3rd a generation but in Pakistan no pop up head light
I had a 05 Accord
I had 5 accords
Most reliable family sedan you’ll ever get
4th gen is the best
I have a 89 coupe sei in a manual.
Im jealous
I have accord aerodeck silver 2.0 12 v 122 hp. On this video isnt showed 😁
I got TWO WAGAONS ACCORDS>>>THAT is correct 1996's TWO of them EX!!! GREEN ACCORD WITH 385K and Tan with only 200K..LOVE THEM..
Wow 2 wagons! Those are rare to see nowadays!
Thank you glad you enjoyed! I completely agree, I can't stand the 1.5L sewing machine (as I like to call it) they are slapping in everything now.
i have a 2009
First is the best
Bro, not mentioning the Accord Type R CH1 is a miss...
I was only covering North American models in this video...covering every international version would make the video too long
Who thinks the 1994-1997 accords were The bast
Surprised you didn’t talk about the japan only type r accord
I kinda just kept it to the North American market, otherwise the video would have been way too long
I wish they'd bring back the wagon i may not even look at a crv if they did
The Accord wagons were awsome!
The new Accord would make for a really good looking wagon.
I drive a 6 th gen
I assume North America never got the Accord Euro?
Sadly no 😭
If you mean the Gen between 2003/4 and 2008, then yes. It’s just known as the Acura TSX here. If you mean the Accord Euro-R/Type-R, then sadly, no.
Timing belts have been Honda's version of terminal cancer since the beginning. Honda's aren't invincible by any stretch of the imagination.
Timing belts are supposed to be changed at regular intervals though, they are a maintanence item, but many people ignore them and thats when they become an issue. So I would disagree that they are cancer. Some of Honda's auto transmissions tho...different story, total cancer.
Forgot to add the japan accord also considered the tsx in America just saying
Yeah, for the sake of the video nit being too long I just stuck with the North American models
Had an ‘04 V6 6spd coupe and am driving a ‘21 Touring 2.0T. Absolutely love the Accord, shame what they did with this ‘23, it’s just UGLY.
Put back the k 20 in it not the 1.5
Amen
Ya bro no manual no fun.. 😢
My favorites are the 3rd, 5th Specifically the '96-'97 model years, because the tail lights look better, the 6th gen " 2002 " year, anf 7th gen 2006- 2007 years. The 11th gen is just boring, all the new Hondas now look the same.
Good choices!
It’s because they have lost the meaning, identity or character of what the original Accord was about. 🎉
I
Why was accord euro 2002 -2007 not mentioned ? The most stylish and good looking of all .
I was just covering the US trims in the video. The euro Accord is covered in my TSX video
