I was doing that for long times and lot of Trane centrifugal water chillers back there from 1997.
Why pull the 3rd diffuser it's already set and there's nothing you need to do behind it?
We use a lifting plate on the discharge volute for a safer/more even pick while replacing the discharge o-ring. Wouldn't be possible to use it with the 3rd stage diffuser sticking out.
That's so awesome!!
What model is this chiller?? Nice work
@MrBerniebling that is a trane Two stage CVHF.
looks like lots of fun
Been there done that
I once heard that a chiller mechanic working for Trane or York or Carrier can make up to $100/hr. Is that true?
You can make a good living as a Chiller Mechanic. You can make a good living in the HVAC-R trade in general. You just have to be willing to put in the work. Lots of hours studying, it takes sacrifice.
Not if you are working for a company. I was at $39 a hour back in 2014 which was $2.50 over union scale. Took early retirement
100% false
I’m a chiller tech for York marine and I make a fantastic living. I travel all over the world and enjoy every bit of it. To answer your question YES you can make over a hundred dollars an hour but on double time if that helps at all.
@AdrianButler86 right now union sanfrancisco your making 300 thousand a year.
100 per hr.
50 per hr into the pension and health and welfare
Video running very fast cant understand
This video is not meant as a tutorial, overhauls should only be performed by chiller technicians with extensive experience/factory training.

Customer Should have bought a York
You mean what? A yk? Maybe by the time of purchase that model wasn't available, also by the time of purchase low pressure refrigerants maybe was the thing. Like now, low pressure refrigerants + magnetic bearings chillers are making their ways. In 10 years maybe someone will comment on a video overhauling a YK saying: "customer should buy magnetic chiller"
@kevinmithnick9993 Yorks for the last 37 years I've been working for york and Trane. Yorks have always been a better machine. I remember putting 3 tons of R22 into York YK chillers. Now Yorks Magnetic bearing low pressure chiller is light years ahead of Trane's machine.
@@billyflanagan9657 Did you work for york just before jci bought it in 2005? If so, could you please tell me how were those times?
@kevinmithnick9993 I did it was much better we were really appreciated and respected by the customers when it was York. When Jci bought it many senior mechanics left because of all the BS we have to deal with like all the electronic paperwork when I know for a fact customers prefer paper. We use to fill out paperwork scan it and email it and you were done. Now we have to do all this data entry which takes half a day. Thanks for asking.
@billyflanagan9657 I've heard something similar from a latin American fellow. I'm asking you because I've heard JCI is planning to sell York so I would like to make an idea of how is going to be the environment in that matter
