No time like the present to take on this absolute classic battle theme! Had a really fun time working on this one and hope you enjoy! I'm releasing daily content on RUclips for you guys through while many of us are stuck at home so be sure the check out my secondary channels Jules Conroy and Bitcrushers for more! As always, the full tab to this cover is available to my Silver Level supporters on Patreon and the MP3 and uncompressed WAV is available to my Gold level supporters! Thank you for the support! 😊
I requested this April 14th when you posted "Persona 5 Royal - Takeover." Thanks so much. Amazing work as always. In 2012 you covered One Winged Angel also that was awesome.
2:19 the drums have some life! I'm a metal drummer, played with Blue Man Group, toured the country and competed against other countries.. but I've always wanted to do something like this, im jealous of that drum machine lol
@monc hilqs Not mistakes, more like bad decisions. Then again, the English transalation didn't *need* to be exactly the same as the original ; we wouldn't have gotten Cloud's reply commented above ;)
I don’t think they translated it like in some games, for example Persona 5 Royal. Instead they worked on 2 scripts at the same time, that’s why most of them doesn’t sound too close to each other, unlike how they translate a game released in Japanese first
@monc hilqs By "localization", they mean they change the original script a little when translating the Japanese so that it fits more in the western society/fits more in English. This is the final step and most of the complete process of translating a Japanese game and bringing it to the west. Like, Cloud saying "nailed it, I know. Thank you. Moving on." is reflective of the growth he goes through by this point (they made Cloud WAY more likeable and much more realistic in the remake, great characterizations.), and how he's willing to be an idiot in front of tifa like that. This resonates with the western fans and is a lot more funny than if he just said "I didn't have a choice", because Tifa was being extra and dramatic about it, which added to the comedy. Nojima, the scenario director/writer said it himself even, that Cloud might seem like a badass but thats just his front. In reality he's just trying to be cool so he'll "have these little moments where he'll let his guard down and be awkward". The only time I really care for translation differences is when it comes to the story and lore of a JRPG. For FFVIIR, it was great. I played it in English then in Japanese. ペラペラぺらじゃないですが、少しだけ話せます。日本語を独学で勉強していますから。I'm not fluent (by any means), but I'm studying Japanese by myself, so I can speak some. So trust me, I definitely know there's always a lot of differences with the English version of a script. The fans remember Aerith being snarky as hell (and she is in Japanese as well), and given spoilers, her saying "Screw him" about Sephiroth just works and makes it great. Changes like that are not as significant by any means. Whereas in the end, in English she'll say "I miss it. The steel sky." but in Japanese she says "I hate the sky." In this case, the Japanese version makes more sense and is more in line with the plot, since in Crisis Core, Zack said "That girl....she said the sky frightened her." It scares her and she hates it because she looks to the sky when she feels somebody dying, which happens in Crisis Core. So, she says "I hate the sky" at the end of the remake, because the steel sky was protecting her from that. At the end of the day though, both are fine and good and it doesn't really matter. Its nearly impossible to keep a script from Japanese into English fully intact, and isn't something to be expected. It would lose a lot of quality in English if it wasn't changed around a bit to fit more with the norms and colloquialisms of English. Sorry for such a long comment but translation into localization is an extremely complex process and isn't something to get too worked up about, so I figured I'd explain it a bit.
Legit, this song is what introduced me to heavy metal. There might have been something I heard first from a previous game, but DAT RIFF was the first one to stick with me.
When you cover Final Fantasy, you can't just go hard. You have to go harder than the Black Mages. You definitely succeeded here, Jules. The only way it could have benn better is if the solo had been four times longer, or that this had been a collab to really amp up the energy.
YES! THIS is what I wanted the remake soundtrack to sound like. The orchestra is really pretty but it doesn't capture the gritty and intense feel of the game like this does. Absolutely stellar!
There is a rendition in the remake that sounds more like this one and opens with that chugging guitar. The first time you hear it is one of the summon battles. I did that fight like three times just to listen to the song over and over again.
Well done! This is one of my favorite tracks, but I don't see it covered as frequently as, say, Those Who Fight! This one's a banger! Gives Remake Airbuster a run for its gil.
Of the guys I've listened to that tried to cover this, they had a good beat but sounded modernized too me. You have that classic tone that fits it just right
FUCK. YES. I've been jamming out to extended versions of all the songs on the OST on YT until they officially release it, and now I've got another song to jam out to. Thanks, my guy
1:04 YES! YES! THERE IT IS! THE PART THAT HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD *ALL GODDAMN WEEK* (More specifically around 2:42 but it happens at both of those times)
Great as always Jules. But part of what I love about this song is the sort of chorus response part, and I feel like this cover kind of missed that feel of it a bit. It still rocks though.
I think this was taking the air buster battle version from the remake, I can tell because the bit after the piece where it's a double layer (playing the sharps and minors together so the sound blends in an odd way that's just my favourite little bit from the original version) is my latest favourite part of this track... But only air buster version
Why did they not call you when the remake needed music? you're so freakin good and so respectful of the source material you're working with! always stunning work from you!

You did it justice. Fanbase doesnt have to kill you now. 😁
Sounds amazing dude, thanks for more grinding music for my FFXIV gaming. >:D
2:19 the drums have some life! I'm a metal drummer, played with Blue Man Group, toured the country and competed against other countries.. but I've always wanted to do something like this, im jealous of that drum machine lol
You hit limit break on this one!🤘
FamilyJules: Nailed it, I know. Thank you.
Moving on.

Was loading the dishwasher
Accidently ended up fighting it when this came on
Lmao wtf 😂 I can so imagine this.
I had a "Dishwasher-Tsunami".....
@@stanx926 Wish I could summon Leviathan for our dishes.... :(
=D
[Dish Salvo]
This "Further" dude is in for a bad time.
Punny
I actually had to scroll back up to this after reading it cause it took a second for the pun to kick in XD
*doorbell megalovania intensifies*
Wrong RPG.
He had a bigger party though
Dark spiky hair man covers song from blonde spiky hair man game!
@Blood woa that's spikey
Its zack lol
but the real spikey was the spikey we made along the way
i don´t know what is more fantastic, the music or the dude with the endless fun while playing.
A wild Airbuster appears! Cloud, I choose you!
What will Cloud do?
- Attack
- Item
- Ability
- Magic
- Switch Party member
- -Flee-
You madman. You've done it, you've made the heaviest cover of the heaviest song from FFVII.
RESPECT.
Legit, this song is what introduced me to heavy metal. There might have been something I heard first from a previous game, but DAT RIFF was the first one to stick with me.
I'm having flashbacks to the airbuster fight
I am too! Just got the switch ffvii game and I even played remake airbuster theme on laptop while I fought scorpion. Takes me back eighteen years ago!
Attack when the tail is up!
…and bad things will happen
Crisis Core's "The Summoned" will always be my favorite in my heart.
But this? This is hitting it *real* close.

Im actually playing thro FF7 again and i shiver with excitement at the prospect of taking sephi boi down.
Gonna clip the wing of the one winged angel XD
YES! THIS is what I wanted the remake soundtrack to sound like. The orchestra is really pretty but it doesn't capture the gritty and intense feel of the game like this does. Absolutely stellar!

.....You didnt get to Air Buster yet
unff, that rhythm tone is CRUNCHY and I LOVE IT!
Stuff like this is why Jules is my favorite cover artist
0:23 Wow, you actually played the tapping
Dude you deserve much more of a viewership than you've got. I've been following you for like most of the last decade and have always felt that way.
the fact you played the organ parts on your axe is pretty fucking great :)
2:05 I never get bored of listening to it again, I just love this arrangement.
I was really hoping that this one would have won a spot back when you did the fan-voted top ten boss themes... glad you ended up getting around to it!
Those Who Fight: I’m pretty good.
“Yeah, but are you *further?”*
Just hearing this Jules cover of an iconic boss theme has me feeling I can Break my Limits!
Well done, as always, good sir. \m/
1:03 - Iron Maiden - Mother Russia
0:00 - Motörhead - Jailbait
i figured it out guys
ToxicxEternity and yours are by far the best covers of this theme! Loved that you guys had a colab a while back too!
The song that sparked my love for video game music. This cover is fantastic.
This just get more epic the more I listen. Just mindblowingly good!
The most awsome and accurate cover on youtube... period awsooome 👹
I cannot explain the pure epic, bad assery skills of this man right here. Phenomenal :)
Nailed it big time. Cams mod ! Going right in there !
Well done! This is one of my favorite tracks, but I don't see it covered as frequently as, say, Those Who Fight! This one's a banger! Gives Remake Airbuster a run for its gil.
I wonder to this day... is it "Those who fight further", "Fight on!", "Still, More Fighting" or simply "Boss Theme - FF7"?
All of them 😉
Yes.
I've always known it to be called "fight on"
And the normal battle theme as
"let the battles begin"
the answer is... *yes*
Such an Epic cover! FamilyJules Thanks a lot! This is the ultimate limit break :D
The last video I watched before watching this had a Final Fantasy VII Remake ad playing at the end. It was a sign.
Probably my favorite rpg boss theme from my favorite rpg, so happy that you covered this!
Stunning. You are an absolute beast, and your lead tone is liquid gold.
Of the guys I've listened to that tried to cover this, they had a good beat but sounded modernized too me. You have that classic tone that fits it just right
Love when you cover these classics!
That time when i first heared this song in the remake... It gave me chills
This is pretty RAD! I tried to cover it but the tapping that you do is just INSANE! Thanks for bringing another awesome cover, man! Keep it up!
perfect timing, I’m slowly making my way through the original FF7, and it’s really good so far!

The whole thing of quality is insane ! And to hear all the harmonics 1:1 of the original tune is so good. Not your average guitar channel ;)
FUCK. YES. I've been jamming out to extended versions of all the songs on the OST on YT until they officially release it, and now I've got another song to jam out to. Thanks, my guy
A classic song done by the great Familyjules. Great job as always! :)
DUDE!! you are the first one to do the background arpeggios on guitar that every cover skips!! SO COOL!
For years I was hoping you'd cover this one day. You nailed it!
you've made my day - this is brilliant. you do low tones better than most coverers. shine on, you fucking diamond :)
I was hoping youd make this gem for us, thanks for another masterpiece!
OMG MAN you are AWESOME!!!!! I cannot imagine that hard work..... THX FOR MAKE ME LIVE AGAIN!!!!! This brings me a lot of memories :)
Okay, that is not just awesome, that is jaw-hits-floor awesome! Well done!
Good cover and excellent job in FFVII RM. I'm glad they heard me on that one.
This reminded me that the actual FF7R OST should be on sale within the next 24 hours
Well timed and well played!
1:04 YES! YES! THERE IT IS! THE PART THAT HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD *ALL GODDAMN WEEK*
(More specifically around 2:42 but it happens at both of those times)
my favourite battle theme song of all times!! thank you so much!! greetings from Chile!
Amazing playing!! Sounds wonderful) Thanks
I'm looking forward to next one
Once the music kicked in during that airbuster I couldn't help but smile while glaring at my TV.
I am a simple guy. I listen to Final Fantasy music and i love it ;)
Next one Jules doing the HoneyBeeInn dance? :DDD
Gelling hair and smashing chair. Ah, Final Fantasy VII.
I seriously needed this in my life. Well done!!!
Absolutely amazing! This is definitely going on my music playlist.
😱simply perfect! Great job sir. Cloud approval achieved😁
Great as always Jules. But part of what I love about this song is the sort of chorus response part, and I feel like this cover kind of missed that feel of it a bit. It still rocks though.
Without question the best cover of this song to date
Great job on one of my favourite boss themes of all time
my favourite cover! thank you so much for this.. this should have been in ff7 remake instead
i was waiting for this one, you are tha boss! best version of all time, even better than black mages. Coolest riff, 100% pure guitar.!!!!

I´ve always thought this theme sounds like a Deep Purple song. Really good cover, love your channel
taking this song to the next level!
After playing the original FF7, hearing this brought back a lot of memories of that game!
This shit is ridiculous. Well done man
super cool !
That's awesome, man!
I really wanna hear your version "Pain the Universe" and "The Darkness Nova" from Legend Of Mana.
I don't know anything about final fantasy but I this cover is awesome
I think this was taking the air buster battle version from the remake, I can tell because the bit after the piece where it's a double layer (playing the sharps and minors together so the sound blends in an odd way that's just my favourite little bit from the original version) is my latest favourite part of this track... But only air buster version
God that was a beautiful rendition im fucking STUNNED
This is just so good. That is all I can say.
that's a thick rhythm guitar and i love it
Excellent boss fight tune.
WOW this sounds amazing!
pure perfection
Cloud for KFAD2 DLC!
Jokes aside, sick cover! The low A guitar sounds super sick!
Why did they not call you when the remake needed music? you're so freakin good and so respectful of the source material you're working with! always stunning work from you!
It doesn't get much better than this. Especially at 0:41.
This is half of the final fantasy's music representation in smash for a reason.
This aged poorly
Oof
Good job dude. Solo was gnarly!
This is so awesome 🤘🤘🤘I really love FF games, they are so great! This was excellent 🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍
Better than original..... Thx man.... you are the best :)
Another cover, another banger, another like within the first 5 seconds.
Shinra HQ boss fight. Damn, that's probably one of the most epic boss battle music in entire series.
Classic, sounds fantastic dude
So proud to see how many people came out to defend this song from cancellation, little victories my friends, England is still alive and kicking.
You are incredible!🤘🎸
