you could tell he was nervous and could have blabbed forever but he did what needed to be done and got out the way. pie looked quality too. probably would have been over an 8.1 if he hadn’t done the other place first.

Love that guy. Humble pizza loving, salt of the Earth type of guy. Deserves nothing but a monster score. The type of dude the exemplifies what a small business owner should be. Looks like great pie. Hope this gives him everything he wanted.

I try. Pizza is terrible on the West Coast tho compare to all the great places back East tho. Most small places get smothered out by the big boys here.

One of the best crunches in recent memory. If I was in the area and only had time to eat at one place, between Mondo or this place, I'm choosing this place based off that crunch alone. Every single bite had a legendary crunch.

opening a restaurant in usa is so overpriced it's scary. poor guys rent is probably 10k. also stupid health department nonsense tacks on a additional 60k - 80k in unnecessary investments/changes. you could tell on his face the stress of it all.

As a New Yorker, Connecticut is probably the best pizza state in the country. Especially per capita

Actually the New Haven pizza folks recently went to DC to get CT named the pizza capital of the US.
Dang - I am actually surprised the score wasn’t bigger. That slice he pulled had ZERO flop and had an earth shattering crunch; I was sure that was going to be in the 8.5 range

I grew up in West Hartford and never really appreciated how great the town is, and the state of Connecticut overall. People generally like to shit on Connecticut, so after moving away and realizing how much it has to offer, it makes me very happy to hear Dave talk up my hometown and recognize our pizza game like that.
I live in Newington. Live one street over from West Hartford. Never heard about this Pizza place. Gonna check it out..

Yes, that pizza looks pretty perfect. It's the sauce too. Bright red and clearly very flavorful. No flop. Perfect amount of cheese without liquid in the center. Am enormous crunch without the burnt edges. This was easy 8.3+. Not even a question.

What is going on in Connecticut? How do you even compete in that market? There's like 100 7.6+ places there. Dave should have a different scale for Connecticut.
My favourite review in a long time! Great owner with a cool story, the little sub plot about the bragging rights with his mates, lovely customers, the fucking PEP TALK, great pie and a great score.

That’s it: this review has proved to me that Dave’s scoring system is ruined. Dude essentially gives pizzas that are a “80-89 out of 100” an 8.1/10, then a “90/100” could be a 8.2-8.3, a “91/100” could be a 8.4-8.5… like I’m saying you can definitely tell he’s transfixed on keeping this wide variety of scores within a “7.8-8.1” range. Like there are 8.1’s he describes as “very good, would be better with some changes” and other 8.1’s as “terrific, just what I like, does it right.” Like he can’t figure out how to just give 8.2’s-8.9’s anymore; his scoring system is pointless now.

I live in Connecticut and well most of the pizza places are all amazing, one of the best places locally to get pizza in my area and the food in amazing! is Queen Pizza in East Hartford they have the best food in the area , usually the mom and pop places in New England are the best! not Corporation pizza places like Dominos and in Connecticut they are a dime a Dozen! If you do stop by Queen get the lasanga dinner ! Trust me!
Feels like there are as many 8.1 as 8.2-8.9 combined. I know Davey makes the rules, but the scoring would be more enjoyable as a viewer w/ a more even distribution. That looked like an 8.3 easy.

I've been here a few times being from West Hartford and I can say they make a killer pizza. I especially love their hot honey pepperoni. Also the replies left on the bad google reviews are fucking hilarious.

Hey Dave, I live in CT but I don't own a pizzeria, HOWEVER I can GUARANTEE that I can serve you some of the best pizza off my Weber Grill! It's a style I've been doing for years and now I have my brothers doing the same. Trust me it will worth your time!

I thought the owner seemed like a nice guy during this review as well. I live in west Hartford and was eager to try this place. Then i read the reviews and the owners response to the reviews. Holy shit this guy is an aggressive creep. His review with dave was a big act. Ill never step foot in this place.
