I used to deliver for Palermo's. This is a family owned spot, with great ownership and leadership. The food is exceptional, and they take good care of the staff and their customers. People who come here just don't come once they are lifetime customers. I live about 1 hour 30 mins from there now and if I am in the area I stop in for a tomato pie, and always say hi to the brothers.
There's also a Palermo's in the burbs of Chicago he went to - obviously butchered the name there too. Pretty sure he also spent like 30 seconds trying to figure out how to open a Chicago pizza box.

Just got back home from Palermo's a few minutes ago. For reference, I live 65 minutes away in Pennsylvania (Turnpike trip) and i started eating the tomato pie in the car in their parking lot. HOLY BLEEP is this amazing!! Super thin, crispy & light. I am usually done at 3-4 slices of regular pizza in my area, but since this is so light, I ate the whole large (5 slices out in NJ, and brought the last 3 home, and popped back in the oven (275° for 6 minutes). This pizza was DEFINITELY worth the drive. If anyone who watches this review is close to Bordentown, don't hesitate, just get in the car and GO! I left at 9:30AM to get there just after they opened and it was everything Dave said it was. Going back next week with some friends to try both the cheese and have my friends try the tomato pie. 👍👍
I'm honestly surprised Dave doesn't drop more pies. He's always holding them awkwardly but never drops them. Today was the first fumble I've ever seen.

This was a great example of a good solid ‘basic cheese’ pie, that is exactly Dave’s go to i.e. crispy crust, not too strong a flavor, and the owners were sweet and non intrusive. Lessons for future folks in this once in a life time predicament: slightly over cook your pie (thin crust is essential). Try to make sure the pizza is fresh out of the oven and not in the box very long. Pretend you only slightly know Dave, unless you have a beautiful story about how you and your family survived Covid. DO NOT stand on the street while he scores; you’ll easily lose 0.3-0.5 points because of that.
The fart noise the editor added at 5:05 when Dave stood up was perfect. I can't be the only one that caught that. P.S. their frozen pies are sold at a lot of retail locations and they're very very good as well.

I'm sure it would be an 8.7 if he didn't let two thirds of the tomatoes slide off of it before he ate it! Perhaps it's time he started using paper plates and bringing a folding stand for the pizza box. The focus is getting lost and the pizza place/owner(s) are the ones to suffer any score deductions for inattentiveness. He needs to re-score on a slice with all the tomatoes intact! This goes for all the slices he eats after most of the cheese has slid off. It's ALL in the details... and paying attention to the slice you are scoring.

You have to admit that this area of New Jersey and generally across the whole state is as good as New Haven or NYC overall - This place, DeLorenzo, Conte’s in Princeton, Papa’s, Star Tavern in West Orange, Napoli in Frenchtown, DeLucia in Somerville immediately come to mind.
The pizza here is specular!

I'm sure it would be an 8.7 if he didn't let two thirds of the tomatoes slide off of it before he ate it! Perhaps it's time he started using paper plates and bringing a folding stand for the pizza box. The focus is getting lost and the pizza place/owner(s) are the ones to suffer any score deductions for inattentiveness. He needs to re-score on a slice with all the tomatoes intact! This goes for all the slices he eats after most of the cheese has slid off. It's ALL in the details... and paying attention to the slice you are scoring.
Place is about 10-15 mins away from me always a good slice. Dave needs to go to delorenzos on SLOAN AVE in hamilton.
