I am so desperate with these doors! I have tried several times to slide in the hinge part to the glass door but I am unable to do it. In your video you get it to go in and it slides, but I do not know how to do that. Anyway, other wise very helpful video, thanks!
I know you wrote this 6 months ago .. but I just install my door ... And I spend more than 3 hours to install 1 door could fix the thing inside...till I realized you have to take a little bit backwards the screw...then it click in! Hope this could help somebody help like me that reach this video looking for help
I did it by resting the door on about 3 inches of books. The trick is to get the hooks under that other thing and then press hard until you feel a very pronounced click
Does anyone know what size the screws are to go into the original Billy holes? I have the shelves and byom doors but no screws. The hinges line up though.
Wow, you make it look so easy. I am trying to install these right now & totally frustrated. The instructions I have tell you to put the hinge together before hanging the door, including that piece you installed on the cabinet prior to hanging the door. Going to try it your way. Wish me luck.

I opine: if the new place for fitting gets a hole at the top,then if the screw is partly put in, gravity etc may allow for a second hole site to be found more easily?
Thank you for this video, it helped a lot but wow I have not gotten so angry and frustrated for years. My doors ended up slanted. I tried adjusting that special screw and it helped a bit but still, I am so disgusted with these hinges because I can see both door are slanted- ie, one door is drooping down towards the centre and the other door is slanted upwards so I have a triangular crack between the 2 doors! So how I adjust the screws on the upper hinges needs to be different than how I adjust the screws on the bottom hinges. Plus I found that adjusting the width-wise screw was not enough, I had to adjust the distance-from-the-bookcase screw too to help correct the slanting but no combination of adjustments seems to work. I hate these doors. Plus the glass shows fingerprints etc. and I scratched myself several times on the sharp door handle. I was so careful with my measurements I know that's not the problem. The problems is all the combination and permutations of all the hinge screws. And the Ikea instructions are not clear: to make it go closer to the centre, do you turn the screw clockwise or counterclockwise- the instructions don't spell that out. Hideous. Hours and hours of my life wasted on a statutory holiday here in Canada. But thank you, I couldn't have gotten as far as I did without your video. No wonder Ikea discontinued these doors...
Do you have to mount the insert behind the glass? I’d like to use the Billy as a display case. Will the glass in the doors hold without the insert behind? Thanks
Would you recommend the morliden door to a household with a 1 year old? I understand it's tempered glass, right? Can it easily get broken if a toddler bangs her hands on it?
I did this a while ago, sorry I don't remember the size. However, I usually choose a drill bit by lining it up with the screw. A drill bit that is very slightly narrower than the screw will be your best choice. That way there is some wood left for the threads to bite into.
Can you use these glass doors without the cardboard back? I was thinking about using this glass for a display bookcase. Does it work without the back card so that it can be see-through and will it look any good? Thanks!
it absolutely does! if you have a newer billy bookcase, you dont have to make the modification that i did on mounting the hinges either. send pics to my twitter or instagram @notatechshow if you can. i would love to see it!
@@NotATechShow I managed to order one to click and collect at my local IKEA! Do you know if it comes with wall anchors to connect the Billy to the wall as I'm getting the tallest version of Billy/morliden and people are recommending wall anchors for it. Thanks.

Is there a way to unclip the hinge parts as I have attached them to my door panel instead of attaching one to the cupboard and one to the door?

Will there be always be a 2-3mm Gap between both the doors when closed?

Yes they will, it is just a piece of cardboard behind the glass. It can be removed

Why do you need a wall mount with just a door?
The Morliden doors are actually pretty heavy. If you don’t have heavier items in the bookcase, it will actually tip forward with the doors are open.

Yeah you can take it off again, you might need to use a small screw driver to pry it off. Just be careful.
