I am so glad this place was saved from oblivion. It came close a few times over the years. Went there is a child in the late 60's. Very magical.
I miss that park. Growing up in Mass and having family in Vermont, we always went there.
NH here. I have so many memories from here and Santa's Village in NH
What a sad looking place. It needs a lot of love and some modern features and it can again be a popular place for the young and young at heart. 🎅🤶🎄
Nothing sad about it.. some of us appreciate the older stuff.
@@Amazing_80 Oh, I meant sad as in it can use some sprucing up with new paint and adding more attractions. I still miss Santa's Village from when I was a kid and that was a long time ago now.
The land of make believe has an amazing xmas section to visit
This unlocked a core memory of a feeling that had been long forgotten, but deeply loved. That feeling is the child-like wonder brought on by an old-school Christmas. I've never been here before, but now I must visit this someday.
I grew up in the sixties and 70's. This would have been a blast for me. Too bad the electronic device generations may not appreciate it.
Thank you for letting us know about this place. I had never heard of it. Definitely taking my kids here next summer to support this Americana restoration project.
Your channel rules!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Arctic elephants? 😂 Glad to see it holding on. Of course, it took someone who visited as a child to save it.
Yes, I'm glad it's still here! There are very few of these old-style parks left!
I went there as a kid. I seem to remember a mini Roller Coaster but I could be mistaken,
Wow I live in New England and didn’t know this existed! We always go to Santa’s Village in Jefferson New Hampshire.
What a great video of a great vintage park. Thanx for the tour.🎅🤶
Glad you enjoyed it
I remember when I was a child, my folks brought us a few times. My favorite things were the little roller coasters in the picnic area, and ringing the bell at the school. 1965.
One of my most cherished childhood memories growing up in Vermont! :)
Took my older son there when he was five--they still had reindeer then!
This is definitely on my to do list this year around the holidays.thank you for sharing this
I live under Putney haven't been there since the 70 the old castle an building were where the train use to run😂
I would love to get a better look at that castle!
Thanks for making this video. I went to Santa’s land as a child in the 60’s. I’m glad to hear someone saved it and is restoring it. We would go to Santa’s land and also to Basketville in Putney. I wonder if Basketville is still around.
I was there. 49 years ago. Don’t remember it, but was told I loved it!
Thank you for posting this, I never even knew that it existed. I always took my kids to Santa's Village in Jefferson New Hampshire. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing that they can't be too far away from each other, I'll have to Google it.
WOW! Thx for this vid! We took our son there when he was about 3 in 1994😃, and me pregnant with our daughter at the time🥰 They are now 29 & 32.
I came here when I was a kid and was stung by a bee as it got stuck in my plastic slide shoes! I also remember singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!" On the stage while my siblings and parents and patrons watched!
That’s crazy a Christmas theme theme park looks good fun I bet they’re really busy during the holidays
I went here a lot as a kid I don't remember to much about the rides they had I remember they had like this small like boat ride in a small circle and I remember they had peacocks and a humpty dumpty on a wall I know it was destroyed by vandals when it was abandoned because I had seen a video and immediately recognized the place
I remember going here with my mom and dad back in the early 1990's. They used to have an igloo shaped restaurant. Watching this just brought back so many memories. Thank you for sharing your family's experience ❤
Was the igloo with the yeti in it the restaurant? Glad you liked the video! Thanks!
I think the igloo was a pancake place?
It was the Pancake Place! Miss that place.
I came in the mid 90’s, it was small but fun. My sister and I have tons of pics from there…one with the vandalized big Humpty Dumpty guy. But good to see most of it back.
Enjoyed this video. Will have to tell the grandkids about this. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. It's definitely aimed at younger kids.
Nice,0:51😊
Thanks for watching. What did you see at 00:51?
A great treasure! I want to visit!
I would love too go there looks like fun thanks for showing this video
Thanks! Glad you liked the video! I think they are closed for the season now. They are usually open from July to December, I believe.
Thanks for the tour. The fun house was there in the 70’s but not the mini golf. We also rode the mini roller coaster too
Okay.. I would definitely enjoy this ❤..
It was fun! Thanks for watching!
Tom, what a nice video you have made! We took my daughter there when she was three in 1998 and she loved it. She enjoyecd feeding the deer, she rode on the rickety large scale train, the igloo restaurant was separate from the structure you showed us and it was not open and looked old and neglected. They had just made a rough dig out of the land before the large slide was put in , I thought they may have had a post office there where they would stamp Santa Land on your mail. Glad they saved this place it will nice for future generations!❤😂 Nice job!!!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Hi, you just showed up on my suggested videos, I watch Carpetbagger and Adam the Woo. So I’m subscribing, you have a very good channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
I grew up in Putney VT. I had some weird experiences around this area. It's good it looks better than it did when i was a kid. As a teen i the early 2000s, it was kind of a sketchy place.
So cute. Merry Christmas.🎅🎄
Thanks. You too!
Thank you so much for doing this video! Great memories takung my son there. I would still love to go! Diane, 67 from CT ❤
Got a Vintage Santa's Land in Cherokee NC.
Been there, no comparison. This one is way better ❤
Really endearing place, looks like a hoot we don't have anythink like this where I live, loved the swag you picked up from the shop awesome video dude!!! =D
Thanks! Glad you liked it! It was fun place to visit.
You should do Santa village New Hampshire
Someday
Never been to this park (in VT), but I went to the NH one almost every summer growing up w/ my family. Lots to do, tons of fun & very magical! Nostalgia is wonderful, lol.
Love that place!
@@KitKat_Ktyou know who goes there hardcore legend mick foley Beocuse he is a Santa fan
You also have Santa's workshop in the Adirondacks.
It would be worth bringing Santa's Land back to It's hay day 😉❤️
That might have been the one in the building across the street from Astro land.. I rode that carousel many many times, and I have done restoration on a similar carousel in Cooperstown .. it’s an Allen Herschel carousel.. the reason for the weight limit is the horses are next to impossible to replace.. older carousel horses are either hand carved or casted , newer horses are usually fiberglass
You’re about right on the funhouse .. mid 70s early 80s and looks like a funnifrite funhouse
We have a carousel here and it was moved here and restored over the years. The horses were all hand carved by local artists and opened. Unfortunately, where they finally put it wasn't ideal and it's now closed. Basically it's in a CVS parking lot.Shame ,because there is nothing wrong with it other than location.
You should go check out Holyland in Waterbury sometime. It's so weird! 😆
I live in Putney and when I was a kid, they had a chimpanzee that would do tricks and then hold his hand out through the bars for popcorn and then he would do something else and repeat it. And yes the animatronics are original to the park
Cool! I didn't know that! Thanks!
@@fleabittenadventures My grandfather helped build it
That carousel is a "kiddie land" special. That's why the weight limit is so low and the radius is so tight.
How about go to Santa clause land in Indiana and after hours of non stop Christmas and Santa themed stores you go to holiday world and experience even more Christmas rides and games, oh and all the other holidays, turkey shoot is awesome for kids
Wow…Xmas over load
For sure. And it's normally open in the summer too!
Theres also santas village theme park in NH too
☆●☆ They should have Christmas Music playing throughout the park and Lights..Lots of Christmas Lights..
live right down the rode
I LOVE JACOB THE CARPETBAGGER
Went there in the early 90s, maybe earlier. . Very unkempt. Felt bad for the few animals there. Let them know it was sad.
If they add live animals, this could be like Yorks Wild Kingdom in Maine
Yes, or the Catskill Game Farm. If they do it right, it could be great!
True, Santa's Village in New Hampshire has live reindeer 🦌.
@@fleabittenadventuresyes..now that the Catskill Game Farm has been gone for a few years, there is a need for something like it.
Santa clause Indiana
Anyone know when they will be open again ???
Is every train at that park derailed? hahaha.
Actually, it seems so.... Maybe they'll fix that next year.
Is it opened all year?
No. They seem to be open different times every year. Check out their website to verify when they are open. RUclips won't let me post a link, but just Google Santa Land USA in Putney, VT. Thanks.
@@fleabittenadventures OK tks!
What a shame how worthless and lame society has become- no one ever creates anything cool and fun and innocent anymore.
Those were the good old days
Im from MA and ive never heard of this place. Honestly it looks depressing as hell
The one in Cherokee isn't that nice
