Diane likes the “guitar guy”, also known as Slash And she digs the drummer, who fills with boom-boom-bash Sappy rock-n-roll ballads are Diane’s jam So she plays the air drums on today’s program
Nicely done on the poem, I really must say, I couldn't have said it any other way. Just like a song, the words rhyme perfectly, But in this case, they don't.
When I was a teenager I listened to 'Use our Illusion' I and II so many times that to this day I still have every single Slash solo on those albums committed to memory.
This song was a great one for you to start with for GNR, as it was more theatrical. Very good reaction. I'm glad you liked it! And kudos on getting sponsored by Manscaped. Your dad did a great job. Guitarist is Slash. It's fun to be a part of your musical journey.
November Rain always felt like their attempt to pay homage to Bohemian Rhapsody. Just a massive rock opera. It works. The video didn't hurt. In the hey day of Mtv, it was like watching a mini movie every time it came on.
I forgot about the Riki Rachtman cameo in this. He's the guest who leans forward a bit and smiles during the cake cutting. At the time this video was made, Riki was the host of Headbanger's Ball on MTV, a Saturday night block of programming focused on hard rock and heavy metal.
The day after my wife’s funeral would have been our anniversary. The videos for this song and “don’t cry“ we’re all over the place, within days of that.
Slash's guitar riffs and Axle's vocals are so iconic. My high school installed a jute box in the cafeteria and during lunch it was either guns n roses or George strait. It all depended on which group of kids had the most quarters. Thanks for another great reaction video.
This song is part of a trio of songs based on the Del James short story "Without You." The other two are "Don't Cry" and "Estranged." Highly recommend you react to those also. This is a masterpiece song and video. Iirc, the most expensive video produced at the time of its release. Has stood the test of time. Well done young lady!
7:30 That guitar guy is Slash. He always gets his moments, and he also had success later, with other bands, including Velvet Revolver. And, he famously entered...and lost...a contest for the best Stash look-alike...lol
I believe this album was GNR telling the new guys on the block at the time ( Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and so forth) that they can still rock and sell albums.
The bride is played by a supermodel of the time, Stephanie Seymour. And yeah, we were pretty lucky that Axl was able to sing for as long as he could, 'cause he has iconic vocals - as iconic as Slash's guitar. I really enjoyed how he changes it for the two halves of Don't Cry. Really makes the song hit hard.
she was actually his girlfriend at the time and they were actually engaged but broke up before getting married, she was also in their "don't cry" video
Ugh I was supposed to see them for my first time here in St. Louis this month but they postponed, then cancelled last week. Love this song! I hope they're back here soon.
Such an awesome song for you to get a GNR intro. I was in college when this thing came out. It was wild. And Slash (the guitar guy) is one of the greats.
'Appetite for Destruction' is one of the all-time best selling albums because it hit hard at a time when the Glam Rock was fading and Grunge was setting in. Techno fizzled, Metal was still niche, and Huey Lewis was doing whatever Huey Lewis does in his spare time. GNR really kept Rock alive in that transition period and it was a rare day when MTV didn't play one of their vids. Def Leppard held on as well and is worth a listen. Both the Pyromania and Hysteria albums were fantastic, with the latter being probably their best in terms of style and sound. Very well designed and a great one to play in the background for a lot of things.
At 1 time, the only original member of the band was Axel rose, the rest of them had left due to drug use and arguments in the band.Slash was out of the band from 96 until 2016. The band came back together for there We're F"N back to tour❤
This song is part of a trilogy, you really sould check-out the other two ones, they are called Don't Cry and Estranged... Congratulations for your channel and saluts from Brazil...

Loads of fantastic songs on the Use Your Illusion albums (including this song), but _Appetite for Destruction_ is a perfect album. Not a single weak song in the lot, every one is a banger. An impressive feat! A few years later we got Alice in Chains's _Dirt_ and Faith No More's _Angel Dust_ in the same category. I really *really* wonder what Diane would make of any FNM song from _Angel Dust._
When this video came out the bride’s dress was all the rage. I hadn’t ever seen a short high/low wedding dress before and I thought it was the coolest lol
GNR definitely broke the mold with this song. This song will forever have a spot on any "best songs ever made" list until the sun fizzles out. Fun Fact: This is the first music video older than RUclips to hit a billion views
A couple things about the song/video I find intriguing. The first part of the song talks about the need to be alone and after the drop into the second part it's about needing someone and not being alone. The video part with the church is cool, exterior shots show it to he tiny but once inside its gigantic. Slash walks out to do his lead and it's small again.
I never even thought about there being a FIRST TIME hearing them.. but mine was at 15 at Wendy's when we were cleaning after closing the restaurant for the night.
I'm american and heard this song a million times. To save time I watch YT videos on 2x speed. This song is much better at that speed!!! Actually been listening to all my 80s and 90s classics at 2x speed and they all become banger dance tracks no matter what the track.
13:23 You're quite correct, Diane In fact, Slash, along with bassist Duff Maccagan and drummer Matt Sorum, had formed another band named Velvet Revolver and hadn't released a couple of songs titled "Slither", and "I Fall To Pieces"
First off, let me just say that I love that she’s being exposed to this masterpiece… But can you imagine hearing this back in the day for your first song, when they’ve been hyped up by all your buddies who’d heard Welcome to the Jungle??? lmfao 🤣
Unsure what gotten you into this past year or so vs your Ireland vs US comparison, I have to say, sadly I have not listened to that song what was me then, listening to music was my hobby, hearing it again love it/hate it. November Rain is a very somber song, what one can say left a mark on me when it played, thus remember that event in my life when played on the radio, even almost 30 years later it left its mark on my DNA (damn I feel old), but thank you playiing/rxn to the song; it's a classic and one my favs.
This song for me heard it on the radio for the first time was the song that elevated slash has a great guitarist for me all my guitar Heroes come out of the late '60s and mid-70s and I never held Guns and Roses up as more than an average band until this song and slash really shined in his technique enjoy it
GNR performed in my city about 31 years ago, and when this piece of art started, a drizzle began to fall and the most epic part of this song was being sung... that is an indelible memory for those of us who were there that night of November 27th
Glad to see you reacting to another classic, Diane. There were actually multiple versions of this video if memory serves me. I remember one where She caught him cheating on her and left him instead of the ending here where she died. Axl was actually involved with the daughter of one of the Everly Brothers (a brother's classic rock duo). I remember seeing her and him on an interview segment in their home on one of the gossip shows right before this song released. In the interview Axl actually mentioned that his real name was Bill Bailey Jr not William Bruce Rose Jr. I remember due to my late mom being a fan of the song "Won't You Come Home Bill Bailey" by either the Andrews Sisters or the MacGuire Sisters (I can't remember which at the moment). Wikipedia tends to get things wrong a lot unfortunately.
Slash is back in the band... After many decades, they finally buried the hatchet and launched the Not in this Lifetime Motherf*!?(r tour ... saw that show in Orlando! It was a long overdue reunion. Axl AND Slash are the heart of the band.
From the band that is in this clip, Nowadays Axl Rose is on vocals because he is the owner of the band, the guitarist returned to the band in 2016, the bassist returned in 2013 and the keyboardist never left the band
Hi Diane! I don't listen to Guns & Roses much these days, because they really got played out in the late 80s/Early 90s. And their lead singer was a big Chad for a long time, but I think he's gotten better these days. Have a great weekend!
When I used to play the drums, this was one of my favorite songs to play because of so much use with the Tom’s such a great song and fun song to play but you definitely have to do it as the trilogy don’t cry November, rain, and Estranged in that order
Only the song as an mp3 is great but very regular. BUT together with the videoclip it is an absolutely masterpiece. You can't keep it seperate from eachother.
The drummer is Matt Sorum, who also played with The Cult just before joining GNR. Lookup The Cult, which are on tour now and will be in Ireland soon I believe
Well done, Diane! Guns n Roses were never a fav just because of Axl's voice, especially his affectation. Something about his singing really flips my switch. If ya Knowah, it's like out thru the in Dowah, I can't take it any Mowah. I do appreciate the musicianship, liked Slash, Duff, & Izzy in Velvet Revolver. I thought your review was spot on though, and appreciate the effort you're putting into exploring old music new to you. Hope you have a great weekend.
Axl helped the drummer Matt Sorum come up with this drum fill. It’s the same one repeated 24 times throughout the song. I want to say the inspiration for doing that was an Elton John. Just can’t remember which one
I love "Locomotive," "Breakdown," "Pretty Tied up." as well. Mostly "Use your Illusion two" entire album. Locomotive is my favorite song by them. Unless you count the Live version of "Move to the City."
THANK YOU! At least someone kinda said it! Honestly this is one of GNRs WORST songs... 6 minutes of the same 3 notes and the same 2 line lyric scheme. 🤦♂️
I reacted to some current video of theirs. Also, they suggest the Guns n' roses select videos with several cool current videos on their RUclips channel

Hearing Slash described as "that guitar guy" has me rolling!
that was fabulous lmao
I honestly don't know how it's possible to never have heard a GNR song.
I dont know you must have been in under rock
Maybe she was Amish
The fact that she refers to Slash as " that guitarget " leaves no doubt that her focus has been on a totally different musical genre.
This makes for an even more entertaining video.
esp growing up in the 90's
This is just to make the video flashy
I think Slash outside the church is arguably the most iconic guitar solo of all time, and also arguably only his second best guitar solo in this song.
Comfortably numb at pulse
Also, Slashes solo in the music video means he’s protesting the wedding.
Arguably is right.
I should be since this was the most expensive video at the time and part of the large budget was flying that church out to the desert for those shots.
@@robertpetre9378 or Sultans of Swing at Alchemy. Knopfler and Gilmour are waaaay better than Slash.

The last section of the song, from about where Slash climbs up onto the piano, gives me chills every time.
Phenomenal song from a fantastic band, the first video to reach 2 billion views on RUclips, and no wonder.
I liked how she said she liked Slash's iconic hat.
My kids, now 18 and 13 were raised on 80's and 90's hard rock. Every parent should be obligated to share this magical music era with the kids.

The song is about unrequited love according to Axl. I always thought the wedding and the funeral was a metaphor for this.
Guns N Roses is a all time Favorite rock band. All the Albums from the late 80s early 90s has alot of good Jams and music videos. 🎵🎸🎹

Lyrics:.🤗🤗
When I look into your eyes
I can see a love-restrained
But darling when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same, yeah
Nothing lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain
We've been through this such a long long time
Just trying to kill the pain, Ooh yeah
But lovers always come and lovers always go
And no one's really sure who's letting go today
Walking away
If we could take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowing that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darling don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walking
In the cold November rain
Do you need some time...on your own
Do you need some time...all alone
Ooh, Everybody needs some time...on their own
Ooh, Don't you know you need some time...all alone
I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you
Sometimes I need some time...on my own
Sometimes I need some time...all alone
Ooh, Everybody needs some time...on their own
Ooh, Don't you know you need some time...all alone
And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain, Oh yeah
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
Nothing lasts forever
Even cold November rain
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one

Can’t wait to share the vid
Axl helped the drummer Matt Sorum come up with this drum fill. It’s the same one repeated 24 times throughout the song. I want to say the inspiration for doing that was an Elton John. Just can’t remember which one
That video was recorded before drones, so they probably used a helicopter for some of the shots during Slash's guitar solo in front of that church.
0:31 😂 I used to listen to the 2 disc Phantom album while I mowed the lawns as a kid.
Every time Diane posts another one of these videos, it cements my theory that she has never listened to any music, ever.
November rain isn't bad, but I have other favorites. "You could be mine" "sweet child o' mine" "welcome to the jungle"
Totally agree. Maybe even “Patience” or “Civil War”
@@EventHorizonPrdctns I love this song!, probably one of my favorite ever. yes this is just opinion
Isn’t bad…😂
Try Listening to Paradise City, Sweet Child of Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, Live and Let Die (originally a Paul McCartney song), Patience.
I reacted to some current video of theirs. Also, they suggest the Guns n' roses select videos with several cool current videos on their RUclips channel
I was mesmerized but this video. No because of Guns n Roses but by you! You are beautiful! Like a masterpiece!
I'm still hoping you'll listen to Bill Burr's helicopter story, the stage version not the animated version btw. :)
