I've been a GNR junkie since long before most people ever even heard of them and I definitely over rate everything they do...well almost everything.
I never really understood the appeal of the first guitar solo in this song?
The next one is fantastic but I don't even think it "holds a candle" to the SCOM solo (although NR is a far superior song)

Don’t compare anything to Sweet Child. That’s the best open riff of my lifetime (52 yrs) I highly doubt that will change.
2nd. You can’t compare the songs on Appetite, to songs on UYI. AFD, was them raw & just jamming. UYI you have song like NR that are composed, orchestra, piano, then the guitar, bass, drums.
I do t think it’s a far superior song at all. Definitely more refined, but Sweet child put them into a worldwide frenzy.

Slash's solo in front of the church is still one of the most beautiful things ever caught on film..this has been my all time favorite song since it first came out when I was a kid.
He is a great man who is down to earth.. I was fortunate to get to meet him and for two minutes it was like talking to a friend.. It was exactly 1 year ago, almost to the day., Jan 14th 2023. He flew into Memphis and was at Graceland, singing and paying tribute to his dear friend, Lisa Marie Presley who just died on January 12th.
This was the very first Rock video that cost over a million dollars to make. This video cost GnR about 1.4 million dollars to make. What an epic video. Worth every penny.

I enjoy a lot of various music, but GnR is my fav. band of all time, so I agree with the person who said that GnR are the best, but if your opinion is different, then you can enjoy your own fav. band. Have a good day :)

This song is a perfect example of why Slash is one of the greatest of all time. His solos are, in my opinion, the most melodic and memorable ever written.
The 'sequel' song to this, called 'Estranged' has LOTS of great solos in it.

This song along with "don't cry" and "estranged" are like a trilogy, you have to see the other two.
My favorite GnR song is Patience. There's just something about the sweet melodies in Axles rough voice and the build-up that sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.

This was one of Lisa Marie Presley’s fav songs. That’s why Axl played it at her funeral if you haven’t seen that performance, which made me cry, cuz I miss her too. Hi fellow fan! A November Bday girl. Now it’s your special song too. My parrot loves his hair too & wont shut up about it. lol. She does the Axl snake dance on my channel & is the worlds biggest parrot fan. She even has her own Axl doll she kisses every night. My other parrot just randomly broke out with the baseline to Rocket Queen one day so now it’s a family thang in this household. There’s no avoiding it. Lol.
Axl got discovered in his church choir. His natural baritone voice was perfect for rock n roll but he thought going to be like Paradise City and when he got there it was more like Welcome to the Jungle. Quite a culture shock for him.
This song came back when they wanted to do an epic ballad to shake things up. Part of being the amazing transitional band of the 90’s that they were, was exposing kids and listeners to new types of music they may not have heard and back then it was all formulaic hair bands and peeps had gotten tired of it but weren’t quite ready for new stuff so they had such diverse range in using influences from blues, classic rock, de*th metal, etc that they were able to open kid’s minds to new types of music they might have been otherwise exposed to and ended up carrying on rock n roll at a time when it could have faded away. They’re credited with keeping rock n roll alive and we’re big fans of music education. Cuz it helped Axl a lot growing up.
Back then there was a trend of doing short films for music vids, that Mj kinda started and GnR became really good at too. NOT THE CAKE!!! Lol. 😂 Did you notice slash’s guitar isn’t plugged in when he plays his solo outside of the church?
Songs you should consider reviewing next: Scraped. Garden of Eden (but see my content first, I want millennials having some context about why songs were written & such). Don’t Cry has a great video of Axl getting painted green to portray a demon. And patience cuz it’s my cockatoo s fav song.

The video is based on abdhort story. In the story the couple have a whirlwind romance and he ends up cheating on her. He apologizes but it's too much for her. She says she can't live with or without him so she shoots herself in the head in front of him. In the video the entire wedding is a dream and only the funeral is real. Axl rose is one of the coolest but doesn't have the title. Slash has the title of king of swag. He is the sultan of cool. No one asks why Slash is smoking in church because he's Slash and he can smoke anywhere at anytime
I think, in GNR Izzy was way more of the "cool guy" of the band

Fantastic guitar solos it has everything that you could expect from arguably one of the greats !!!! I have been a GbR fan since the band started back in the late 80s … I was in my teens 14yr old buying my first cd !!!! Long live GnR !!!!

Ok. So “November Rain” is part of a 3 song trilogy. The 1st is “Don’t Cry” then this 1, then the last is “Estranged”
So, I highly recommend you react to “Don’t cry” then listen to “November Rain” again on your own time. Then react to “Estranged”. That would be the order of the trilogy.
