    Hi everyone!
I'm Lachlan's girlfriend and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the people who have left a comment, or a like, or are just supporting in silence.
Your kindness and compassion mean the world and it's so incredible to see how many people have come out of the woodworks to show their support. Each of you are important in showing Lachlan why this channel was worth building, and I appreciate every person who has left a kind word or shared a story of their own.
As many of you know, making this video took a lot of guts and it's fantastic to see it met with such positivity. He prepared for the worst but I don't think he ever imagined so much love from people who've never met him.
Lachlan is a funny, talented, kind person and I'm so glad so many of you saw that and took the time to tell him so. ❤️

Wish you all the best Lachlan, what you achieved starting at 15 would have put anyone under a lot of pressure - even without any mental health issues. Our industry is pretty brutal when it comes to keeping up the upload schedule. Still, you have built an incredible channel and you are still young, focus on getting better and sorting that out, the channel will still be there, and you can jump back in should you feel like it. If this is something you are still passionate about in the future, remember that it's a marathon and not a sprint. This is something we all had to remind ourselves of constantly and still do sometimes.

I'm impressed. First of all, by the fact that you had the courage to make and post this video. I'm sure it wasn't easy. Second, by the fact that you're doing what you need to do to take care of yourself. A lot of people don't do that and they just end up hurting themselves and others even more. And third... you started when you were how young? Wow. Just, wow.
What can I say? Life is hard. Me, I've got PTSD due to childhood abuse and am married to someone in the same boat. So I know panic attacks and general anxiety all too well. Just remember that the brain plays crazy tricks on us and that the feelings you feel when you're at your worst do eventually pass. This is the first time I hear that you're just 21 and that the videos I've been watching these years have been made by a teen... They have such a high production quality.
Take that as a HUGE compliment! You are really good at what you're doing and it shows that you have drive to achieve things.
But don't force yourself and take time for yourself.
I broke off my Bachelor studies 3 years ago because I fell into a deep depression and just couldn't get out of it. Now I'm taking up the studies again, after having worked on myself for 3 years, just working and getting a routine. That way I was able to focus on myself and overcome a lot of the problems without feeling stressed by the pressure of achievement (getting the degree).
You seem like a great genuine guy that I'd love to hang out with, cause I empathise a lot with your situation and way of thinking. A lot of people do, I think. More than you think at least, it's just that some are better at hiding it (if that can be described at being "better", because hiding your emotions isn't a good thing, mostly).

    Hi mate,
As you can tell from my profile I'm absolutely not a very serious person on the internet one bit but your video moved me as I'm sure it did many thousands of other people. You'll probably never read this but on the off chance you do I simply wanted to say thank you for an incredible service over the years, your videos were always superb and I am thoroughly glad you are taking this step for yourself over us.
I'm 28 and have had years of anxiety/depression and dark thoughts and only recently started to come out of it due to big changes in my life - but enough about me. I simply wanted to say I understand where you're coming from and watching your video was like looking at myself from 2-3 years ago and moved me greatly. I wanted to reach through the screen give you a big bro hug and tell you it will get better. If I have any message to give you its just keep trying new things, new hobbies, new exercises to get those neurotransmitters firing, new methods of coping, new jobs, new sleeping patterns, new sleeping aids, new meds and something will get you there. I'm sure none of this is new to you and I won't attempt to patronise you on any of them.
If I can leave one simple small message/mantra it would be: "You are only competing with yourself"
I.e. (Respectfully) Fuck everyone. Fuck everyone and their nice jobs and nice lives and their nice having their shit together. Fuck your teachers. Fuck the extended family that say just 'man up'. Fuck the employer that is too focused on their business to focus on you. Fuck the person in the street who stares at you because you haven't showered or brushed your teeth in 4 days and only left the house to buy crappy food in an attempt to fill the void. They don't get it and even if they think they do and say they do, they still never truly will.
Take it one day at a time and take the small wins, even if that is just getting out of bed on some days.
    Much love,
    Goblin Khal

You're young - and yet incredibly talented and gifted when it comes to not only animation, but also vivid storytelling and research. You have so much to offer.

Hey man, we got you. You are a true soldier for keeping such a fantastic channel of professional-tier quality content not only all on your own, but also braving your condition and the struggles it kept putting in your way.
No one, and I mean NO ONE could say otherwise. The awesomeness of what you created speaks on it's own and don't feel bad to part with it. We support you in priorizing your well-being, and besides as fellow fans of history we'd prefer every single day missing your videos than turning our shared passion into a burden for anyone.
I feel it's particularly important you take time for what you need and what you want to do. I couldn't even imagine how to undertake such hard work and you were able to fight against the meat grinder RUclips was turning more and more into for years. That's no small achievement.
Rest now friend, you've given it your all and your best - and we thank you for it. Better times await you I'm sure, and I hope the kinder side of life shines on you not very long from now.

I’m 36 years old, and have been down a similar road almost 10 years ago. I used to be a content creator, journalist, and streamer. I used to thrive off the stress until one day it all came crashing down. After several hospitalisations, therapy, and medication, the best decision I made for myself was to stop doing all of that and focus on something that is autonomous, with little responsibility until I got better. To this day I still have problems but I know that if I kept doing what I was doing, and overworking myself, I was at risk of not being around for much longer. I feel for you, I truly do. My generation are still working out this whole social media thing along with working for yourself, watching analytics, etc, with little support. Please, please be kind to yourself and do what is best for you and your sanity. You and your mental health are far more important than any content on RUclips put together. Stay strong.

During my last year of college I was frantically trying to find a video to help me understand the Thirty Years War in a simpler manner. Little did I know in that search I would not only find a great video but a brilliant channel full of both videos and a creator that put both time and effort into the videos yet also be relatable at the same time with the commentary. Even though I’ve watched in anticipation of the next series of videos, I’m actually glad you made this video on a true level with us on how you actually feel. It took guts and more importantly you were honest with us all who love your videos and will continue to do so regardless. I just hope you not only get the help but just to live a happy life. That’s more important to me at least is for YOU to both be yourself and just be happy with your life. I hope nothing but the best for you and know that we’ll support you!!! Best of luck man!!

    Hello Lachlan
I know you may not read this, it’ll be a ramble, but I just wanted to say it so you know. The effect creators like you have on us faceless viewers is often just completely ignored.
My name is Michael, I’m 19, and I still vividly remember watching your Thirty Years War video about 5 or 6 years ago. It was channels like yours that really sparked my interest in history, alongside a few others like Armchair Historian.
I remember watching that video because it felt so relatable, I was 13 or 14 at the time, so to me documentaries were just long winded boring rambles my dad liked. Your videos were so much more. It didn’t feel like reading an essay, watching them felt like sitting down with your friend and listening as he told you some cool stuff he learned.
It was the brisk pace, lightweight demeanour and healthy dose of good humour. The joke about “named so because the 29 years, 11 months and 3 weeks war just really wasn’t as catchy” still cracks me up, even though it’s such a minor ans dumb joke.
I would always sit down and watch your videos when one came out, often I’d rewatch them over and over. I swear I’ve watched the Yugoslav Wars video like 20 times by now, i can practically recite it.I loved the jokes and the art, and learned a hell of a lot too. They were one of the major elements that got me interested in history
Anyway, that’s all history so to speak. Now I’m 19, and I’m in my second year of University, doing history.
That’s just how much of an impact you’ve had on a person you’ve never met. Your creations were one of the main reasons I am the person that I am, and why I’m pursing the career I am. And I’m loving every minute of it too, and I have you to thank for all of it
For one of my papers, I wrote about the 10 Day War almost entirely because your video about it was just so funny. Now of course I didn’t put it down as a reference, ‘peer-reviewed’ and all that nonsense, but you were the inspiration for it
I also deal with my fair share of mental illness. Im currently being screened for schizophrenia, which isn’t a fun experience as im sure you’ll be able to relate to more than most. Ironically, your videos, created out of your struggles, became a coping mechanism to help me deal with mine
That’s one of the main reasons I’ve watched your Yugoslav Wars video so many times, it’s like talking to an old friend again. It really brings me back to myself, helping cope and deal with everyday things that sometimes make me lose control
I won’t sugarcoat it, it upsets me greatly that there won’t be any more videos, at least not for a while. I absolutely loved them and really only made this account to subscribe to you and to dislike one crappy video about Red Dawn.
That said, you are more important than these videos
I’d like to congratulate you for having the bravery to admit enough is enough and step down when you feel it best for you. I’m sure most of us wouldn’t have that kind of courage, at least I certainly wouldn’t.
Your videos were a huge inspiration to all of us, I really hope to make my own someday. And more than that, just your personality, charm and humour has also rubbed off on me more than a little. I collect Soviet militaria now primarily because of your video on the subject, and I find that my sense of humour often tries to mimic yours (though just not as funny)
Your videos haven’t just “made my day”, they’ve helped make me who I am
I’m on the path to dedicating myself to do what you do, because you’ve shown an insecure 13 year old me that history education can be fun and colourful
Hopefully, some day, you’ll feel well enough to come back and keep on giving us these amazing gifts of content. But, if you don’t, or if you feel that day is far away, please do not feel bad about it
    You don’t owe us anything
Do what’s best for your health and well-being. As upsetting as no Feature History videos is, it’s worth it if it makes life better for the brave, funny and selfless man who made them. We all greatly respect your courage, it takes a lot even to just say “I’m not alright”
A history video seems like such a small thing, but never underestimate how much it can touch a life like mine, and I’m sure my story isn’t the only one like this
And who knows, maybe without your videos to compete with, I’ll have a fighting chance if I make my own :)
Best of luck, you got this

Hang in there; the quality of your content is top-notch, inspired many and will always be out there. It is awe-inspiring what you managed to build at your age. All the best, I hope you will find a way to arrange your life that works for your mental health.
