    Thanks for this inspirational video! I love your style which has a perfect balance between being realistic and personal. Your painting reminds me of the Swedish post stamps from the 1980s, with a soft and deep feel. And so great to hear how the online course you took was useful.

    Lovely work on the painting! Can't take my eyes off of it! You must make videos of your painting process, I'd love to see the paints you use. I might be taking a class myself too thanks to you! Haha

    I am debating on taking this course. It looks great. I have taken Liz Steels classes, I love her Urban Sketching style. I still don't know what my style is, I am all over the place. I based one of my first pallets on Jane's pallet and of course when Daniel Smith came out with Jane's Grey I had to get it. It looks like the next class starts in November.

      I have taken Liz Steel’s water color class as well and I definitely think that there is not a lot of overlap. Both are great and are well worth the cost!

    Can I ask whether there are some botanical paintings included in the exercises ?

      There are at least a couple of botanical paintings in the class.

    Can you take this class if you can’t draw?? I want to learn to watercolor to use in coloring stamps and other images.. I can’t draw at all.. I just love color..

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  2 года назад

      Absolutely! You can trace the images that you paint with watercolor and Jane Blundell includes a tutorial on how to do that.

    Just curious how you stayed connected to her and to the other students, if you are taking the classes at your own pace. How does that work?

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  2 года назад

      The class platform allows you to post your work and comment. People are starting all the time and Jane Blundell regularly reviews posts and comments and will interact that way. The students are also pretty active and comment on each other’s work all the time.

      @@MysteryArts did you find it absolutely necessary to have the exact same palette as hers? i have the same basic palette but in m graham

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +1

      @@PickwickTurtle She gives some alternatives to the colors in the course intro I think and there was certainly a lot of chat about that in the comments to each lesson. If you are ok with the color mixes not being exactly the same as hers, I think you will be ok. You might, however, want to get some of the daniel smith specific colors like Goethite and Jane's Grey (although you can mix a Jane's Grey with Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna)--I don't think there is an m. graham alternative to those. For most of the other colors, I think you can find an equivalent.

    Thank you for the informative review and for sharing your lovely pears. I just stumbled upon Blundell recently and want to take her Travel Watercolor online class. Since you've experienced (at least partially) both her classes, do you think it's necessary to take the Mastering W/C before the Travel class or does it not matter so much. I'm a beginner - just starting my 3rd W/C sketchbook. Thank you again for the great video.

    • @MysteryArts

      I think you can completely take one without the other and either order is fine. The classes teach different things so go for whichever one appeals to you more--they are both great.

    Thank you for posting this as I have been wanting to sign up for her classes. Have you posted a review of the travel sketching class? Did she focus more on nature landscapes or urban environments? Thanks again!

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад

      I have not done a review of the travel sketching class because I'm not done with it yet. Work has been getting in the way! I need to devote time to the class. I think you can do both landscapes and/or urban environments though.

    Hi there, thanks for this review! I am considering this class even though I have a lot of watercolor experience. I am not really into the hours of work to create realism paintings....do you think with love of loose painting I would still get a lot out of this??

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад

      I think so. You’ll learn a lot about color mixing and methods to get certain results. None of the more complicated lessons will take hours.

      @@MysteryArts One more question: Do you think her half pan set of colors by Daniel Smith is enough paint when I sign up or should I invest in tubes? Wasn't sure what would be best....I am trying to set up a simpler palette for myself after painting with a palette for ten years....

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад

      @@janelevin9506 the half pans should be enough for the course, but if you plan to try paint with those colors beyond the course (it’s a very well balanced set), I would recommend the tubes. The tubes will be a greater value in the long run.

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад

      @@janelevin9506 if you let them thoroughly dry out, you can use a palette knife to pry them out and then add a little water to them in the new palette so they will stick.
