The NVIDIA RTX 3060 GPU comes out today, and we're reviewing it with the EVGA RTX 3060 XC Black. Testing includes basically every modern card, but we primarily compare the RTX 3060 vs. the RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6800 & 5700 XT, RTX 2060, RTX 2060 Super, GTX 960, and GTX 1080 / 10-series cards. The RTX 3060 is a little bit disillusioning to review, if we're honest, and that's because we're all well aware at this point of the impossibility of meeting demand with any silicon product at launch. This isn't just NVIDIA: It's everyone, and not even just other PC part makers. Regardless, we'll review it from two perspectives: In the first, we're talking about today, and that means keeping perspective of availability and pricing. In the second, we're talking about the future -- hopefully helping someone at a time when cards are more readily available. Benchmarks for the RTX 3060 include power consumption, gaming (e.g. Cyberpunk 2077), thermals, and fan speed, alongside RTX game benchmarks for ray tracing.

That Card is frustrating, I thought you were going to break it on the table lmao you banged the shit out of the PCI-E interface then the rear I/O lol
The 3060 ti is the best ever price/performance gpu to this day, if they just kept making 3060 ti all year long, instead of toying with the market and people genuinely wanting/waiting, this all could have gone a lot different.
Steve I recently got a evga RTX 3060ti XC and one of the copper heat pipes that come out the back of the card is smooshed. Is that normal ? Also my computer doesn’t post half the time. I got it from CyberPower PC
I tried to do a memory diagnostic and the computer didn’t repost after restarting. It is now on with no picture on screen. What do I do ?
@onofrio piccolino First you ask yourself why you bought from OC. Then you get in touch with their CS and get it returned. Don't keep messing around with it because they'll then blame you for issues resulting from their shitty build quality.

@@tilburg8683 On my local emarketplace a 3060 which is in stock,is about 1200 euro.Its MSRP is 330 euro.Thats 3x the price.Its crazy.
I got my 3060 for a very low price and it was a huge upgrade and the 12GB Ram is fantastic for anybody who wants 200 fps with 50 mods active and 2nd gen raytracing. The 3060 may not have been a good option on release at that inflated price but now, for budget 1080p gaming and for those of us who use many GB of texture mods, the 3060 is literally one of the best value for money oprions available today. Mine also handles overclocking so well it just absolutely destroys any game i throw at it at 1080p, dual monitors. Great card.
How much did you pay and was there any warranty available?
Considering the cut-down nature of the entire 4xxx lineup (basically shifted each one down one card title, 4060 is actually a 4050, ect) this is very true. If you can acquire a 12gb 3060 you will see some games easily using more than 8gb of Vram at 1080p, with higher settings. Where people might object to 3060 vs say a ti variant or 3070, is when you want higher settings at higher resolutions. 1440p is doable on this card. The tradeoff becomes FPS vs Resolution vs Settings. If you want high FPS and Resolution, gonna have to sacrifice settings. If you want high settings and FPS, gonna have to sacrifice resolution. If you want High resolution and high settings, gonna sacrifice FPS.
For me, I can run Doom Eternal on 1080p with ultra settings, RTX/DLSS disabled, ~144 fps with this card. Vram usage creeps slightly above 10gb, with no noticeable frame dips or other issues.
Similarly, Apex Legends will run at 144hz with maxxed settings.
BF5 and GTA5 run between 60-100 fps. This card is pretty beast for the power draw, footprint, heat, ect. I went from a 980 to 3060. A 1080ti is roughly equivalent to the 3060.
Steve's intros are goddamn on point lately.

apparently its good for mining, and with US dollar collapsing crypto is surging again. Add in global demand for gpus and production shortages, were now in a worse spot then the first bitcoin craze. The only solution is to wait it out.
The only argument for this card is that you can't buy any other cards...

Eh, I think it's better than "it's fine." To me, price to performance on this is actually very good. Anyone coming from a 9xx or 10xx series card has a very nice and affordable option here.
But for me sitting on a 2060 OC, I think you've sold me on this not really being worth the bump yet. That I should sit on it until maybe a 4060 or at least a 3070 become tempting. But also for me, it's hard to justify the cost of a 3060ti/3070.
All to say, I really like the value they bring with these xx60 cards for those of us not pushing the absolute limit!
On point with the "It's Fine" being all you need right now to sell a GPU in this market. Could release a GPU with 1050ti performance and 4GB of VRAM and call it the RTX BUDGET and it would sell for $500 plus.

Last summer we got the same (rasterization) performance for less money (5700XT).
So, even the MSRP is too high, let alone the crazy scalper prices. But people are buying every piece of 💩

absolute dogshit even, last summer and before you could buy 2060 cards for 285 here which is a much better deal than the 3060 at MSRP
Agree is called as meh meh 3060
keep in mind that this is the best current gen Nvidia card available in an ITX form factor (below 180mm in length, dual slot design). You could get a GTX 1080 in the same form factor, and then an RTX 2070. In terms of performance per Watt, Nvidia has made almost no progress in the span of 5 years. All they are doing is throwing more power at the problem to squeeze out more performance, kinda like Intel has been doing for a long time now. Really weak showing from Nvidia.
Edit: I was wrong, MSI has a 3060Ti ITX card, which is actually a decent generational performance improvement over previous ITX cards.
That's because -60 class GPU used to cost you $200-250.

Same here. I started looking at building a pc last summer, but thought that it would be a good idea to wait for new graphics cards and processors, since it was just a couple of months away.
At this point building the exact same configuration I considered last summer would cost the same. And newer components would be significantly more expensive (for any improvement).

I really feel like the 1060 should have been on the charts seeing as how a lot of people skipped the 20 series cards and its still the #1 card on steam. I don't know, does that not seem like one of the top cards you would want to compare a new mid-level card to?
You have 960 970 980, but 1060, nah why would we want to test that one. Just seems like kind of a big oversight to me
A GTX980 performs roughly the same as a 1060 so there’s no real problem if you thought about it for a second.

I bet it happened with other GPUs too. We simply did not notice fraud release and complained for low supply.... But the supply was never low.
Scalpers will get fucked to resell this garbage card way above MSRP lmao.
I got one from evga through their notification process to day and its arriving tomorrow
@@adharshsenthil1363 when did you sign up?
I) blame the people who buy those products, not the scalpers, the scalpers are not the problem, customers are, just like preordering games, it`s everyone`s fault..
Love the intro, funny af.
that intro is gold lol!
I like how theres a 30% spacing when they both have 60 in their name
Well the 3060ti uses the 3070 dir3 and the 3060 doesn't
@@WayStedYou Even more of a disparity then. You just proved my point 😃
andd its gone... wait... you need something to exist to be gone.. right?
I'm sure it 'was' existed
Rewatching this video just for the intro 🤣 aaaannd it's gone
That intro was actually amazing
That Evga XC Black looks so small. Cards have really been getting bigger the last few years, that I'm not used to seeing gpus that small
the low power cards have always been small
It's the same size and performance of a 1080 mini.
That's what she said
@@MrPruske I wish lol
@@MrPruske i love that perf/watt has basically the same for 5 years lol
Damn the 1080 ti still looking pretty good.
my 1070Ti feels like a 3090 rn
That. Intro. Was. Everything.
Loved the opening South Park bit. lol
Memory is also used with high-end modding.
I have seen my modded games make my 8 GB 2080Supers stutter while my slightly slower RVII didnt.
Like enb, shadowing.
12gb vram actually needed
To be fair the 2080 super is closer to a 3060 ti performance than a 3060. He has a point that with the 3060 itll get hampered down by its performance before the 12gb can be used.
Wow, 3060 doesn't look impressive at all
It’s very good for its retail price tho
@@bl0bf1sh50 no you could buy a rtx 2060 super for the same price before mining
2080 súper xc ultra for da win!!’nn
@@bl0bf1sh50 though it doesn't sell at RRP.. and who knows when it will
I got 2060 1.5 years ago for $330 and here's new generation offering... 11% increase. Meanwhile 3080 is 2x price but 2.5x faster. 3080 has literally better price/performance... If it existed.
The Sharonville OH Microcenter had enough for the huge line they had outside. I was surprised
LOL Another great video, to be seen as as a pasttime for those of us who can't even get a card we don't really want, b ut would rather have something, than nothing... We did enjoy your show anyway!
Loved that South Park reference. :)
Great job as always GN team! Nice to see you all having some fun on the job :D
That intro was amazing
After buying a Dell G500 (which I returned thanks to your videos!) And an open box deal Cyberpower PC which had a bad RTX 3070, I got a RTX 3060 from New Egg shuffle! So, now I can finally build my Ryzen 5600x gaming PC! 😀
Aaahh good ol' South Park, always relevant!
Nvidia talking to the 1080 ti:
Nvidia: You gonna die yet?
1080 ti: No I don't think I will.
My 1060 is still going strong.
@@jamesmcmahonii8433 If you have a 1080P monitor it gets the job done. Mine really struggled with 1440P though.
@@jamesmcmahonii8433 1060 too weak and blurry. only an overclocked 3090 is barely tolerable to my eyes, anything lower makes me dizzy from all the blurriness and poor gfx quality.
@@ifrit35 i haven't upgraded my monitor in as long as the 1060 :-). I don't game professionally and I'll wait to get these for nothing during the next crypto crash. It's just not worth it IMO
Sick reference, bro! Your references are out of control, everyone knows that!
Launched 5pm here in the UK. Took 90 minutes for listings to appear on ebay, all SKUs sold out on all regular UK websites within 4 hours, even the £630 model. Curry's website crashed completely since it has no bot protection. Fun times!
