When I first saw this I was thinking "if only she stopped crossing her feet like that", and then she got injured and while watching 2011 worlds I really missed everything about her, even the crossed feet. Aliya is elegant, dramatic and powerful, she's a queen. And in my opinion we need gymnasts like her to make things more interesting. I'm so happy she's doing a great comeback and she'll make the olympic team, it just wouldn't be the same without her
She came through in the end with the gold on bars, four medals… and a second Olympic appearance with another gold bars and three more medals! She’s a true legend.
Was Jordyn Weiber. Aliya would have easily won if she had made fewer mistakes- here AND on balance beam. Jordyn had the error on bars but absolutely rocked vault and beam. Even with a more realistic floor score she still performed better overall than Aliya.
***** lol, was this comment a whining one? I don't think so. And no, I don't post comments whining about Aliya not winning. You on the other hand go around YT accusing people of bullshit, like you're doing right now.
@@joychuasihan12 I completely agree, there was no way Jordyn had a 9 execution, I tried being loose on counting the tenths, and I already got 1.3 in deductions. At least Aliya got her payback by winning way more Olympic medals (including 2 golds) and world medals than Jordyn has, plus a much longer career. No hate to Jordyn, just that this win was absolutely rigged
I Love her. shes an amazing gymnast Hope she wins a medal at the olympics. She's not that cocky shes very sweet in interviews especially when she won worlds.
I like how everyone's finding all these deductions a problem and making them a reason to hate these foreign gymnasts like how they say they don't have the basics when they never said any of this about someone like Nastia who also crossed her legs, or how they turn a blind eye to Jordyn's early twisting on all her back handsprings, or how everyone says balletic movements aren't apparently the only form of artistry while giggles and smiles are the only form of expression. Not.
ikr, and they're so insecure about it all as well. Whenever someone says Mustafina has beautiful artistry, they explode and yell about elegance not being the only form of artistry, even though nobody said that in the first place. Losers.
For me, artistry in FX is all about representing yourself - showing who you really are through acrobatics, choice of music and dance. It doesn't necessarily have to be balletic per se. Dominique Moceanu's Atlanta FX is art. It showed her youth, her bubbly and playful personality, and it also honored her audience, being an unique hommage to Georgia. It was cohesive and complete. It takes imagination and creativity, while ballet is often a safe bet that someone's gonna think you're artistic.
misslosty87 I extremely agree!!! Artistry means taking the movements choreographed for you and turning them into one fluid dance that personifies and compliments the music, and putting yourself into this dance to engage the audience and tell a story. Aliya does this better than anyone (in my opinion, at least), but that doesn't mean at all that artistry has to be balletic; it just has to reflect the music and convey an emotion of some sort.
For people who are saying that she should of done her 3.5 twist in London, you are wrong. Remember what happened to her with 2.5 vault at 2011 euros? She tore her knee and she can't do any twisting crap which makes her land forwards
Dream routine for Aliya: ONE: 3 1/2 (F). TWO: 2 Arabian (E) + front tuck (A) .2 CV. THREE: Gomez [E]. FOUR: Switch split leap 1/2 [C]. FIVE: 3 Y turn [E]. SIX: Split leap [A] + 1/1 Split leap [C]. SEVEN: 2 1/2 (D) + Front 1/1 (C) .2 CV. EIGHT: Triple full (E). FEEDEECC = 3.6 + 2.5 + .4 = 6.5. This is a dream routine for a reason. The front tuck and Gomez turn are unlikely. Without them, this routine would be of a 6.1 difficulty.
Komova always shook hands, hugged, didn't tear her medal off like Khorkina. In 2011 and 2012 she was just disappointed in herself and unable to contain emotion.
i wish she could've gotten that 3.5 twist back for london :( it was so much prettier than her triple and 2.5. every time i watch her i like her more and more
If Aliya had added the stag jump after her double Arabian, it would’ve been enough to still beat Jordyn, who not to mention had a completely overscored routine
I did not know she did a 3.5 twist until today! It was amazing, although you have to think if she wasn't pushed to do so much hard twisting, she might not have been injured
LOL she lost AA to all Americans 2012 -> Gabby Douglas 2013 -> Simone Biles, Kyla Ross 2014 -> Simone Biles, Kyla Ross 2016 -> Simone Biles, Aly Raisman
I love her 3.5 twist in the beginning, so original and difficult, that only one other gymnast has compete with it, Mckayla Moroney. I love her grace and confidence. In my opinion, she should had won. If she was an American and Jordyn a russian, Aliya would had probably won over Jordyn.
@gymnastjaiderz let me ask you did you do those things last night at your dreams and you actually did them better so you can now say that her tumbling is yucky? that's aliya mustafina we're talking about
@uncchristine99 Totally agree, which is why I like her so much. She seems to be give it her all and the intensity in her eyes is awesome to see. Komova does look like she is bored. Like you could see how bored and tired she looked especially in her FX at worlds.
@uncchristine99 yes she shows more passion here than Komova did at 2011 WC..Komova just had better spirits at the Youth Olympics in 2010..I really think Komova was just overwhelmed and tired at the 2011 WC.
I wish everyone can stop criticising her for having crossed legs in her twist! Yes it doesn't look pretty but I bet many people here can't even do a forward roll properly! So if I were you, I'd shut up.
@davies375 If you slow it down, you can see her hands touch the floor before her feet do so it is a fall. Therefore she would lose the barani, the CV and the requirement to have a combination pass. The judges did not take these deductions.
This is a stupid comment. You're assuming that anyone who criticizes Musty's technique by definition supports (and doesn't criticize) the technique of those gymnasts you deem to be...some kind of rival to Musty (Nastia, Jordyn, whomever). Love this gymnast, but she just can't twist. It always looks so awkward and the air with horrible form such as bent knees. Again, I think she is exceptional but twisting s not her forte at all and surprised they still utilize twisting elements in her routines.
Her twisting used to be acceptable, but then slowly got worse and then deteriorated rapidly after her ACL tear. I think she still includes them because they increase her D score a lot and twisting form is unfortunately not a very large deduction in the code.
@liukin95 yeah, we're also not elite gymnasts. We don't claim to be able to do any of it. But it should be done a certain way, especially by someone as well-trained as Mustafina. At her level, she should be able to twist properly.
