I love how the commentators think Liukin being shitty is so funny. Nastia is all like “tee hee my dad is telling her it’s good but not great” after Katelyn did a beautiful beam routine. No wonder Katelyn was miserable in elite.
Right? It pisses me off how much they gave some of these coaches so much credit when some of them either overworked their athletes, treated them bad, and didn't protect them from that monster. Katelyn would have had a way better career in elite if she had a better coach. Wish she could have had Simone's coach. Amy actually knows how to pace her athletes well
Both of these young girls grew up to take control of their bodies and careers from the horrible abusive adults in their lives. Ohashi by finding her joy on her college team and Biles by taking a break from the pressure and stress despite being expected to perform.
I love how he comments on how nearly impossible it would be for simone to get a 15.533 on floor, if only he new what 2014 and 2015 would have been like
He was right. It was impossible at that event at that time for Simone to get 15.533. She got 14.000. But the beautiful thing about Simone was that she was smiling and was trying to cheer up the other girl who was so hard on herself.
I love Simone’s energy and smile even after she fell on beam. She didn’t let it get her down which is so important. You can tell she loves the sport of gymnastics and isn’t just doing it for a gold medal.
@@CoachJulie193 Simone didn't vault at 2013 classics, so she technically didn't compete in the all around. of course, she was having a tough competition, so I'm sure Kyla would win anyways
Very cool to see how good Simone is here, knowing she kept building her skills and refining her gymnastics throughout the quad. And I’m so glad she’s back, working towards Tokyo !
Everyone saying Katelyn could’ve been competition for Simone I’m rio... no she definitely wouldn’t have been lol. This was Simone at her worst and she still almost beat her. Simone became more and more dominant, there is no way Katelyn could’ve kept up injuries or not. However, she could have definitely beat Aly, gabby, Laurie, etc
Looking back, it’s really crazy to realize how under pressure Katelyn Ohashi was. She just basically won the competition here 1:10:31 and instead of her coach, Valeri Liukin, embracing her and hyping her up, he took her to the side and told her what she could’ve done better. Are you freaking mad?! He never saw her as more than a tool to get him more gold medals. Disgusting. Compare it with Aimee Boorman, Simone’s coach, after Simone finished her beam routine where she fell, at 52:00 she embraced Simone and told her positive words “you got back up!”, “okay good! So we know where we need to work on”, “the rest of the routine, I’m pleased with you, you got very good control on everything”. That’s a great coach. Your athletes just competed and have run out of energy, this isn’t the time to be lecturing them! Save it for later. And he made Katelyn Ohashi compete while suffering all the shoulder and spine injuries. Later we also found out that Katelyn got mentally abused, got body shamed and that’s literally why she never enjoyed competing elite. Because her closest person in her journey never really cared about her well being. Valeri Liukin, you will always be one of the devils of women’s gymnastics. It’s disgusting how you’re still actively coaching to this day. Shame on you for ruining Katelyn’s life.
Really? Katelyn isnt that good on bars? May wanna check her D score and the new COD. She has it all the way around. Nastia was a "fragile" gymnast because of her build (her mothers rythmic ballet body) but many of liukin gymnasts are pure muscle, with the grace thrown in. I think the Zmeskal girls will also be a force to be reckoned with. Im thinking Chow and Valeri will be taking over when the Karolyi's finally retire. We shall see. Btw, ohashi is still training and has THE highest Difficulty level on beam...and shes up there are bars.
Kinda sad how this tweet has aged for 2018. With Ohashi slaying her college career instead of elite, with Chow in China and Valeri in Brazil and the USAG in absolute crumbles.
I bet those judges on floor regret the faces they made at Simone's huge steps out of her passes now that she learned to control it and won 4 gold medals on that event internationally

Not sure about the amount rn but yes, they have to do it. I believe it's to avoid coaches just submitting inquiries left and right, they have to be absolutely sure and they must pay.
It breaks my heart how Katelyn was told she couldn't eat; so she wasn't able too build muscle like Simonee's. Even if she ever temporarily put on a little fat while eating to support muscle development, she would quickly burned it off just like she did during the course of college. With the amount of training in elite and the metabolism of a young teenage athlete and with her commitment to being in her best shape, telling her to eat all she needs to would be the only good advice.
I wouldn't say Nastia's All-Around was a "blow out victory" as many still believe Shawn should have gotten it instead. Honestly, Nastia should be ashamed that she could only do a 1.5 vault. That shouldn't even have been allowed. Also, her bars were valued at 17.7. How fair was that?
Her bar routine was valued at 17.7 because of the degree of difficulty. It was choreographed to have that high level to make up for her not being strong on vault.
I see Ohashi as being a future all around gold medalist as long as she has no injuries and works on harder skills I'd say she has a pretty good chance.
Its weird how nobody can do those single arm pirouettes on uneven bars like the Chinese gymnasts; the Chinese girls have such flair on uneven bars, they really are exquisite to watch on that apparatus. Its just a shame they struggle with consistency issues, because they are beautiful gymnasts in every way.
ralucagymnast true, the chinese are amazing on bars and beam, they are so beautiful and unique. also like mustafina on bars, she's beautiful on them as well.
I don't think Ohashi could have kept up with Simone over the years; Simone got exponentially better and more disciplined and Ohashi would have been a beam specialist. But the key thing is that Simone seems to love gymnastics and is able to shake off setbacks, and Katelyn looks like she's on a death march. She didn't love elite gymnastics so she was never going to achieve the heights her talent might have taken her to. I'm glad she was able to go to NCAA and rediscover her love of gymnastics.
Tbf, I'm pretty sure she would have loved elite more if her coach wasn't making her constantly perform with injuries, having her do difficult skills too soon, and body shaming her smh. I agree that it's good that we got to see her shine in NCAA though.
Simone's coaches paced her progression, preserving her body and making sure she only goes up. Katelyn's coach on the other hand pushed her to work with heavy injuries and ran her into the ground, while destroying her mental state by body shaming her constantly.

Looking back on this, I don't think that even the commentators would have guessed that Simone would not only be the face of US (WAG) gymnastics but the face of gymnastics on a whole in years to come. NO ONE could have dreamt that she would have had soooo much success and be as dominant as she has been. The girl will go down as one of the most dominant athletes (man or woman) EVER.
I think Ohashi wont make it to 2016, her age was off and she like all Lukin gymnastics isn't powerful and can't do the two and 1/2 vault! and She isn't that great on Bars and with the new code its all about bars and vault, I hope she turn into a specialist and do bean and floor Some young JR. is going to pop up around 2015 remember Rebecca Bross, same script different cast
It was all about Katelyn at this meet. Her beam at 42:10 and floor at 1:08:10 were pretty great, but Kate and Valeri sure did look glum after those routines! Oh well....
Does anyone know if the FIG is still upholding the stupid rule about no arm swings between connection skills on beam? I think this is such a ridiculous and dangerous turn of events. We're either going to see a whole lot of individual skills (leading to choppy looking routines) or extremely low beam scores.
I love seeing all of the guys giving each other fist pumps even if they are competing aginst each other, the women do it too but not really with people from other countries
It's because she didn't do what she wanted to do. She missed connections on her beam routine and on floor her last pass was suppose to a 2 1/1 to full twist but instead she just did a layout flip. She won simply because of her difficulty on beam and Simone's fall on beam.
same! at least kocian is on the team. i predicted the team long before it was chosen. gabby and aly and simone were a given. gabby has strength on bars and potential for all around, aly is good on everything but bars and simone is no doubt going home with 4 gold medals. i know she wont win bars but everything else, vault, beam, floor, team, and all around. kocian was chosen for uneven bar abilities, and hernandez is awesome on floor and decent on bars. hope they win gold!
Diego Romero I don't think it was Aly who changed tho. Gabby clearly became cold and distant when she came back. I'm not sure if she just didn't enjoy the sport anymore or if it was jealousy but she seems like such a different person here compared to her personality in Rio.
Gabby seemed distant and cold before the Olympics, she never seem to want to do anything with anyone. She seems bitchy and feel like she thinks she better than anyone and just wants money.

Ela está a com uma fratura nesse dia da competição
Simone's coaches paced her progression, preserving her body and making sure she only goes up. Katelyn's coach on the other hand pushed her to work with heavy injuries and ran her into the ground, while destroying her mental state by body shaming her constantly.
Love, seeing them commenting things about Simone biles, and didn't know what she would become, and not being totally obsessed with her, like right now
what was wrong with elizabeths seitzs florr routine ( annee chang)
2:59 ”This could be the new face of American gymnastics”
55:45 really Tim you mean he wasn't supposed to fall?

Biles ❤️❤️
Which release? The Jaegar? She caught it at full stretch didn't she lol! I think its pretty safe though; don't forget, releases are supposed to be caught with straight arms;)
Looking back on this, I don't think that even the commentators would have guessed that Simone would not only be the face of US (WAG) gymnastics but the face of gymnastics on a whole in years to come. NO ONE could have dreamt that she would have had soooo much success and be as dominant as she has been. The girl will go down as one of the most dominant athletes (man or woman) EVER.
did she hit the bar when she caught her jaeger?
Yes
kamila Ford who?
Julia McGowan Ohashi. She clipped the bar, not as noticeable as when some others made the same mistake, but you can hear the clang
I think Ohashi wont make it to 2016, her age was off and she like all Lukin gymnastics isn't powerful and can't do the two and 1/2 vault! and She isn't that great on Bars and with the new code its all about bars and vault, I hope she turn into a specialist and do bean and floor
Some young JR. is going to pop up around 2015 remember Rebecca Bross, same script different cast
What happened w/ Elizabeth Seitz's floor routine? O_o
did katelyn clip the low bar with her feet?????????/
yes
I would LOVE to see Simone back in action on this quad. She is stronger than steel and sharp as a tack.
Hmmmm 🤔
I wish the commentaters would shut up.
América cjp means World cup???? Or Just United States or Just América COUNTRIES????????
Funny, I considered Katelyn Ohashi the next great Olympic hopeful. Under the right coach she would have been in Rio.
We're either going to see a whole lot of individual skills (leading to choppy looking routines) or extremely low beam scores.
jake dalton is soo good looking :)
She won simply because of her difficulty on beam and Simone's fall on beam.
can the athletes protest the rule about the arms? i mean they are the ones participating in the sport and not the officials
Imagine being able to say you beat Simone
when was this?
The first girl i was like"how much chalk do you need???"
Plum Pop! Who simone
Plum Pop! Ikr that annoys me
It's so haunting to know now that Katelyn was competing on a FRACTURED BACK
Altyazı yok
Lah ilagiha lik inxhalah
Marcel WEN?! seriousely Al.....
what was the score on her beam?
what happened to kaitlyn
Got injured then switched to level 10. She competes for UCLA now.
She injured her shoulder doing a pirouette on bars. She competes at UCLA now. I was sad she was my favorite
That is so sad! She was spectacular and had great potential. Glad she is doing well at ucla
I know she was my favorite. I have a soft spot for gymnast from WOGA because I wanted that WOGA 3 peat
same! at least kocian is on the team. i predicted the team long before it was chosen. gabby and aly and simone were a given. gabby has strength on bars and potential for all around, aly is good on everything but bars and simone is no doubt going home with 4 gold medals. i know she wont win bars but everything else, vault, beam, floor, team, and all around. kocian was chosen for uneven bar abilities, and hernandez is awesome on floor and decent on bars. hope they win gold!
What medal did Tim mean when he said Jake was favored to challenge for a medal/a gold? Floor, AA?
"Tu si lo tiene, coño" HAHA loved it!
Katelyn was such a great talent...
Nastia is so pretty in this video
Totally. She looks so good with some extra weight on her.
Back when Gabby and Aly were close :/
Diego Romero I don't think it was Aly who changed tho.
Gabby clearly became cold and distant when she came back.
I'm not sure if she just didn't enjoy the sport anymore or if it was jealousy but she seems like such a different person here compared to her personality in Rio.
Gabby seemed distant and cold before the Olympics, she never seem to want to do anything with anyone. She seems bitchy and feel like she thinks she better than anyone and just wants money.
DCU center?
did any one else notice they didnt do vault??
Elisabeth Seitz had some rockin floor music ♥ ( 1:04:18 )
