I used the record to record the time and date my daughter was born. I then took a pic of the recorded time and printed a picture and framed it. I hung it in my office.
The record time is useful for me as a security guard. When I respond to an incident I can record the time I arrived, EMT and police arrival, departure and scene clear and then pull it up when writing my incident report. Allows me to keep my hands free which is a huge benefit.

This is the most comprehensive GW-9400 guide on the youtube. I find myself watching this periodically as a refresher and each time I realize how cool this watch is and how many things it can do without being a smartwatch. Thank you!
Was gifted one of these almost 6 years ago and I still wear it every day without fail. it's experienced a motorcycle wreck, 4 years in the army as a mechanic, lots of deep water diving and it's still in prime condition. once this one finally gives out which I doubt will be anytime soon, I'm getting another of the same exact one.
I've had this watch for 5 years and I only broke it once when I was draining an air compressor and the air pressure and water cut the bottom band and it saved me from cutting in to my vane
A lot of watches was released since 2013 when the original Rangeman was launched and now is 2021 and still this watch is still hot like pancakes. My goodness this is absolutely a winner in all sorts. Function and Toughness... still One of the BEST Master of G.
This is awesome for hunting. Sunrise sunset times for shooting times and barometer for heads up for shitty weather and compass for when your trying to get a rough heading of winds and other things
OMG so here I am again... Just bought THIS one and watching yet ANOTHER tutorial. I LOVE this watch. It literally has EVERYTHING that I would use and want in a outdoor piece. I just bought the GW7900-1 but I really have no use for the tidal/moon features AND the 94 is triple, solar AND atomic. The ONLY other feature that one could think of is location tracking in bluetooth. Not for me. I just want a stand alone "survival" piece and this fits perfectly. I tried not to spend the other hundred but it's too much of a bargain for the rangeman. The new one is really cool but HUGE. Once it's shrunken down a little I'd definitely go for it. The display is crazy nice too but the 9400 is rugged, practical AND beautiful in its design (to me). Thanks again and may your creator bless you richly. There's only ONE you.

Hey, I would like to point something that is missing from this greatest tutorial about Rangeman ever existed :). I watched both of them, part 1 and part 2 and I think something is worth mentioning about that auto time calibration Multi Band 6. In the manual it's specifically said that if "Power Saving" setting is ON, then the Receive Operation is disabled. I had given up about this, I also own another G-Shock with radio controlled time, and that one didn't worked either, so I just resigned, I thought that I was just too far from the wave. But, after reading the manual more closely, I stumbled upon that warning, I disabled "power saving", I enabled Receveing aaaand, succes, the next morning both of my g-shock's were calibrated. So, I think it's very important to know this, IF you want for the watch to auto calibrate at night you must disable "Power saving".
@@feardabeard7635 Thats very strange, my two g-shocks don't, and I've made experiments, on and off, no ambiguities, even the manual clearly specify this - if the PS is ON, then the synchronization with those atomic radio stations doesn't work.
ACTUALLY, I DID BREAK THE LUGS ON MY RANGEMAN!!!!.....and I was absolutely amazed @ how little effort it took to do it!! I managed to catch it on the inside of my sleeve on my dress shirt one morning, and as I tried to work my arm through the sleeve, the fact that it was caught on the inside of the sleeve was apparently...ALL IT TOOK TO BREAK THE LUGS!!!!! I thought, "YOU'VE GOTTA BE SHITTIN' ME!! This is supposed to be a G-SHOCK, and a dress shirt is all it took to break this supposedly "tough" watch!?!?!" By the time I found out I was gonna have to shell out about $250 to get the thing fixed (I had to send it out to Utah from Michigan to do it), I swore I'd NEVER buy another G-SHOCK again!! I don't know who the "brain-iac" was who thought up this "watch-band-lug" crap, but they need to pull their head outta their A** and think of somethin' else!!! Extremely frustrating!! About $280 bucks down the crapper!! I only had the thing for about a year & a half!!

Greeting Watch Geek! Once again, your review pushed me to buy a new G Shock 😅. Can you please give an update on how the lugs/straps are holding up? Thank you 👍
I just received my Rangeman and I was so perplexed with the manual! I was frustrated seriously thank god I found this video and part 2! Thank you so much!
This maybe one of the last good true military G-Shocks as I need a watch that works completely on its own. When I was in the Army there where many times I didn’t have a phone or cell reception. This rules out Bluetooth paired with an app functionality. Also forget about watches requiring an external power source, aside from solar, such as the newer Garmins. Many of the advertised military tactical watches is straight marketing BS as they aren’t practical.
The army does not use solar powered watches as you don't want to give your position away to the enemy while doing something as miniscule as charging a watch. Also, worrying about the watch's charge level instead of the task in hand would be considered as a distraction. The military uses basic, battery powered G-Shocks for those reasons.
Gotta tell you the effort you put into these Casio videos is outstanding! You have converted me to these watches. Have a GST B100, GMW B5000 and am seriously looking at this watch, and it’s all your fault 😱😱 Keep up the excellent work. Thank you

I hope they will make this model forever
How does the compas work? Mine has a difference of 25~30° in comparison with the one install on board. Barometer, thermometer pretty good, altimeter needs always be resetting, but still is pretty cool...
Literally just purchased this watch and it is my first G Shock. In olive green and a negative display. Amazing. According to the serial code, it was made in 2020 (which I determined from your other video on this model) and I got it for 30% off MRSP at a department store Spring sale
It has been some years since I watched this and I accidentally turned off the automatic light and was not sure how to put it back on, luckily I remembered this review and guide. Incredibly handy, I forgot how much this watch can do:)
I only wear automatic watches but oh my I cannot believe how many functions that watch does!!! I will never trade in my automatic watches but I may have to get a g shock like that just because so so cool!!
As a kid, I wore digitals with all sorts of functions. When I got to 17 I started wearing analogue watches. Many years later, I'm back to digital and G Shock in particular, because of all the functions. Having the choice is great.
Saving these videos. I bought my own retirement watch seeing as I was self-employed, throwing out hints to customers didn't work . I wanted destruction proof hassle-free for the rest of my life period. Set it, forget it, done.
Table of content (click on time codes to jump to desired parts of the video): 0:21 About the watch (review) 08:57 Home screen function 14:09 Auto Illumination 15:15 Adjusting the time/date and other preferences 18:25 Adjusting Latitude and longitude 20:21 World Time function 21:57 Stopwatch function 22:51 Countdown Timer function 23:29 Alarm & Hourly chime function 25:23 Sunrise/Sunset function 26:41 Radio reception function - R/C Screen
5:58 I have the carbon fiber band on my mudman 9300. The band is way more comfortable on my wrist than the resin band on my rangeman 9400-1. My 9300 mudman band just feels more durable and less flimsy. I’ve had it for 10 years now and it hasn’t worn out yet.
Excellent video, I am still watching. Difficulty changing it. Thank you for informing me it automatically shuts off. Always had a Casio watch-G shock, Mudman, had early Casio phone book as well as Casio calculator watch. I loved my mudman. Stopped doing stopwatch & countdown functions, I believe when battery was changed, something happened. Video is useful, since I have difficulty reading small print manual it comes with. I am not clear if I am pinging a tower for atomic time, do I still need to set up manually?
Agreed. I went with the g shock gravity master. Has the ABC, neon illuminator and luminous at night. The only drawback is it's not solar. But at $179 couldn't be beat.
I have the OD green version of this watch. I’m a big fan of ditching the spring bars. I put the Jays & Kays strap adapters on mine along with their bull bars. The watch has been put through hell and took it like a champ. Toughest watch I own. This includes other G-Shocks.
😂MURDER?😢 I work in a cctv enviroment & the "time-stamp" record works spot on with looking back at moment on the playback cctv. Rangeman is the "Swiss Army Knife" & could add new features like Camera. Vibrate alarm+hour. Led light. Any other ideas? 😅😅😅 Fantastic video.
I like the tougher wrist strap pin. Ive had the watch for 3 years of exposure to salt water close to every other day. Although it did get water inside of it at about 30ft of very cold water, but i dried it out for a few months and it works fine again.
Just got this watch...I thank you for your videos....i used it, another video when I purchased my other Big G Shock...alot to learn but very quickly thanks
i got this watch a few days ago, got the negative display version, it is a lot harder to read, in the site and all the photos of this watch shows it a lot better then it looks irl, keep this in mind if you plan on buying, another thing that i found weird is if you put it in a time zone that suppose to be out of the range of the receive function the watch wont let you try to sink or put the dst on auto although if you put it on another city in the same time zone, you could receive the signal, so far i had 2 nights and it did get the signal successfully.
I can vouch for the lugs breaking. I did some rock climbing and bam, next thing I know all 4 lugs are broken. The reason for this is because the watch bezel, bands and case are all connected to the lugs, so any force you put gets directly transferred to the 4 lugs. They have fixed this issue with the new Rangeman which uses 1 extra pin bar on each side, and a plastic covering over the lugs to spread out the force. Be warned, if you do anything even remotely rugged, this watch is not for you. I have the older Mudman G-9300, and that uses 4 separate screws to attach the bezel to the watch case, 4 screws to attach the bands to the watch case and 4 screws to cover the lugs and the backplate, making it much tougher.
Fuck you and your bullshit about this watch. No lugs are broken since 2013. Take your broken lugs bullshit some place else. The only rock climbing you ever did was behind your computer. The GPR B1000 is a piece of shit. There´s a reason why it lasted only 2 years and the GW 9400 is still alive and kicking since 2013...
I think it's decimal, i added the decimal values (closest rounded) and the sunrise / sunet times are identical with the ones on the weather app for my city. I was confused by the little degree mark on the Lat / Lon screen making me thing i need to add the DMS value.
One question to all fellers living in the Southern Hemisphere: is the compass working down under? If yes: do I need to change anything in the settings? Thanx in advance
after watch your video, I got one from Amazon. Excellent watch and your video is really helpful, I really appreciated it. only down side of this watch is it's too big to wear everyday for me(my wrist size is 7 1/2 inch). I wear it for outdoor activities but not for daily bases. of course, It is only opinion I like to share. again great video and thank you.
New G-Shock owner here. I got this one this week and already love it. I bought it for the "tacticoolness". But, I also have a GW-M5610U which is perfect for everyday.
I have the new GW-9400Y-1ER, and it's awesome! I wear it more than my Samsung Galaxy smartwatch now. Why buy a Rolex that can't set the time itself or power itself using light?! Not to mention, the Rangeman is tougher and a hell of a lot cheaper. What's not to like? Tee shirt or a suit this watch gets attention! I love ❤️ it. Buy one!
I have owned this watch for almost 2 years and I love it,the only thing I wish is that they would put a moon phase in the round second hand display that would make it perfect.,

Hey, how this watch perform with salt water and swimming pools etc. I mean after swimming in a sea, you have that sensor covered with salt residue, so how it works then and how to clean it?
Hmm i am in the midst of choosing between the positive and negative display for this model, i like the green colour appearance but reading from forums and youtube the negative display does not really recommended by others. I am ok with the positive display but i like the outer army green appearance more, so hard to choose.
@@franknowakowski3103 The positive display is much easier to read than the negative display. I like the green one---there used to be a green one with a positive display but it had to be bought from Japan and it was more expensive. Consensus is that the best "negative display" is the Casio GD350 with one.
Watch Geek I do have a question though I can get to the receive screen as at 26:45 in the video, but when I press either the adjust or forward button nothing happens. It shows that the last sinc was a few months ago which makes sense as I live in Australia and the reception isn’t available here. I wanted to make sure it was turned off but I have no access, it only shows the last reception which would have been when just out of the factory. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You're right about the International model and the Japanese domestic model being exactly alike except for the band. I bought both the 9400- 1CR and GW-9400J-1JF. Physically just watching it's almost impossible to tell the difference except on the strap of one says Triple Sensor and the other says Carbon Fiber. They feel and look identical other than that. What I've noticed though is in the inner part of band for the Japanese model is more blackish grey in color while the International version just looks plain black. I mean if you aren't looking to see a difference you probably would never detect this. They are so similar they are practically impossible to tell apart except that very almost impossible to notice slight color difference in the inner part of the hand strap. The biggest difference between the two is the price with the Japanese domestic model being about $ 150 more. I regret paying so much more for something that you almost certainly wouldn't see difference in.

@@BharathKumar-ih9sh 300€
I just bought my first Rangman which is also my first Gshock. I can't thank you enough for these two detailed tutorial videos.
Im loving my rangeman even more after this. thanks for the extensive tutorial! subbed!!
the best tutorial ever man... I get through the functions and video twice like in school and now I get everything... thank you
I only wear automatic watches but oh my I cannot believe how many functions that watch does!!!

I hope Gshock is paying you for this! so helpful! Thanks!
I wish all tutorial type videos were as good as this one. Thank you, sir.
I just ordered the watch and waiting for it in the mail!!! After watching this video, I'm even more excited about it!! Thanks for the great video!
+Omar Roushdy congrats on a new watch and thank you for watching 😊👍
This is the best Rangeman as the new one is huge and way to expensive!
And also you don't have to press, scroll, press to get to functions. First one is much better.
Agreed. I went with the g shock gravity master. Has the ABC, neon illuminator and luminous at night. The only drawback is it's not solar. But at $179 couldn't be beat.
So they have made the watch bigger since it was first produced?
@@7775Kevin Yes the version is huge and cost over £800 in Great Britain
@@Legionnaire7777 You must be talking about a different model than the Rangeman 9400, correct?
I have the OD green version of this watch. I’m a big fan of ditching the spring bars. I put the Jays & Kays strap adapters on mine along with their bull bars. The watch has been put through hell and took it like a champ. Toughest watch I own. This includes other G-Shocks.
😂MURDER?😢
I work in a cctv enviroment & the "time-stamp" record works spot on with looking back at moment on the playback cctv.
Rangeman is the "Swiss Army Knife" & could add new features like
Camera.
Vibrate alarm+hour.
Led light.
Any other ideas?
😅😅😅
Fantastic video.
I finally go this watch I couldnt pass up the deal. $145 practically brand new. It's been a while since I've seen your videos hope all is well.
Just bought it based on this video. Great content!
How are you liking yours? I think this is going to be my next g shock.
@@tristandauod it's a great watch with good build quality.
I like the tougher wrist strap pin. Ive had the watch for 3 years of exposure to salt water close to every other day. Although it did get water inside of it at about 30ft of very cold water, but i dried it out for a few months and it works fine again.
"If you're witness to a murder or something..." Lol, man, that went dark fast! ;)
Thanks for this walkthrough, extremely helpful as usual.
Haha thanks
The most complete description ive seen until now, good work here.
Thanks
Watch Geek you are welcome! I was wondering if you have a video about the Mudman G-9300??? I already bought one.
Sadly no, I was going to buy one for myself as I like the looks but eventually ended up getting other watches and now don't feel the urge anymore
Just got this watch...I thank you for your videos....i used it, another video when I purchased my other Big G Shock...alot to learn but very quickly thanks
How to check your altitude
i got this watch a few days ago, got the negative display version, it is a lot harder to read, in the site and all the photos of this watch shows it a lot better then it looks irl, keep this in mind if you plan on buying, another thing that i found weird is if you put it in a time zone that suppose to be out of the range of the receive function the watch wont let you try to sink or put the dst on auto although if you put it on another city in the same time zone, you could receive the signal, so far i had 2 nights and it did get the signal successfully.
I have the older Mudman G-9300, and that uses 4 separate screws to attach the bezel to the watch case, 4 screws to attach the bands to the watch case and 4 screws to cover the lugs and the backplate, making it much tougher.
what's the new rangeman model ?
@@dragos8839 Rangeman GPR-B1000
Fuck you and your bullshit about this watch. No lugs are broken since 2013. Take your broken lugs bullshit some place else. The only rock climbing you ever did was behind your computer. The GPR B1000 is a piece of shit. There´s a reason why it lasted only 2 years and the GW 9400 is still alive and kicking since 2013...
I just recieved my rangerman 9400 today. I love it, and Im not a big watch guy.
Thanks for the best review on RUclips about this watch. Are you planning on reviewing the GPR-B1000? It'd be nice to see one from you.
Yes, I am doing the review of it, but not a tutorial as I had the watch with me for a short time and because WatchUP69 did an excellent tutorial on it
THE BEST VIDEO on RUclips. Hats off to your dedication and detailing you have covered in this video. Thanks a bunch!!!
+Nirav D haha thanks, there's a part 2 as well
Watch Geek As a matter of fact, I just commented there as well :)
+Nirav D haha 👍
I just bought the 9400Y minutes ago, mostly because of your video. Please tell me which Lon & Lat do I need to add - decimal or DMS? Thank you
I think it's decimal, i added the decimal values (closest rounded) and the sunrise / sunet times are identical with the ones on the weather app for my city. I was confused by the little degree mark on the Lat / Lon screen making me thing i need to add the DMS value.
Just got my first G-Shock today, the Rangeman. Thanks for this video.
Congrats and wear it in good health
Excellent choice.
I own the GW 9400, the GWG 1000 and the GPR B1000. Still think the GW 9400 is the best.
Not a good idea to leave the flick light feature on.. It drains the power quite a bit. Amazing watch! This is the best watch tutorial on RUclips!
It doesn't work untill in the dark.
My only disappointment for this Rangeman is the lack of moon graph/moon phase.
Excellent, informitive video. I think this version is better than its newer successor.
Congrats 😊
Lol, if you think this is big, try and use the new Rangeman. Then you will know what big is.
Do you still feel like this watch is a good buy in 2023? I’m looking for my first g shock, I’m a avid traveler.
Buy one!
If youre a traveler, I suggest you get a Gravitymaster GA-1100 or get a Protrek PRG-600 series.
I can't imagine how long it would take to remember all of these functions!
I have owned this watch for almost 2 years and I love it,the only thing I wish is that they would put a moon phase in the round second hand display that would make it perfect.,
Just picked up a rangeman and a gxw56 Japanese exclusive for $100 with box and papers. Best deal I’ve ever got
where
Casio should have a link to your videos in the watch box instructions!! Save the paper instruction book...…
Haha thanks
@@WatchGeek I have used this upload before because my light kept coming up on. And draining the battery. I have the same problem again but completely forgot how to turn that mode of I did an instruction search for this range man and found your time stamps in the description I solved the problem in less than a minute in thanks very much. Casio should pay you. Or a least give you free watches. I got this watch about 10 months ago second hand it was in mint condition I payed 100 UK pounds but at least I was able to check to see if it was a fake. I don't know if it was your upload on how to tell if this modle rangeman was fake but it gave me peace of mind. The fakes out there are very good they look like the real thing. Andy England 🇬🇧👍
Les deux vidéos concernant cette G-Shock Rangeman sont parfaites. Tout est dit! Good job!
Others might've mentioned this already - the stopwatch goes to 1000 hours, not 24.
Yes, really.
I picked up this watch yesterday but I went with the negative screen version. It was 60% off CAD$ from retail. The only issue is the screen. It’s very dark compared to my other negative. Good thing that it is solar powered, I will be using the light to compensate.
If you change the home city and then change it back does it remember the LAN/LON settings you had for the home city?
Nope, it resets to default value of a city every time
Thanks for posting this bro! I use your content as a reference to square me away.
“In case your a witness to a murder or something” 😂😂😂😂
If you witness your case getting murdered by a shot lug..
Hello just purchased my rangeman and it should be here tomorrow but thank you for vid.which set up should be pretty easy, cant wait THANKS for the insight on the range man...
+weedXD38 I'm glad you liked it, and congrats on an AWESOME watch :)
Hey, how this watch perform with salt water and swimming pools etc. I mean after swimming in a sea, you have that sensor covered with salt residue, so how it works then and how to clean it?
It can handle it 😊
I've dived with compressed air to 30m just fine.
I just got one coming in tomorrow. Had to pull the trigger definitely an awesome watch. First G-shock for me.
adam bram hey saw your thread on the G-Shock 9400 rangeman just wanted to see if you got it and how you like it in considering buying one thanks!
Such a great G-Shock.. future classic
Another informative vid....as a casio owner i really appreciate the depth of your knowledge...thank you for wetting my appetite....Chris.
+chris scott haha congrats on making it thru both videos and thanks for watching :)
My opinion the best watch on earth. And btw I put a NATO strap on mine so it will last forever.
What strap is it?
@@paulsilvestri593 Blueshark
it will not last forever with that nato strap. nato adapters causes lug breakage. you should look for it on the net
@@georgeorwell4573Not a fault of the watch straps, but rather the poor design of the lugs and the case.
Thank you SOOOO much for this great video! The Auto mode wasn't working but after your video... SUCCESS!
Your video was a great help. Thanks.
Very clear explanation about how to properly set up the rangeman. Thanks 👍🏻
Beautiful watch I just bought one
Just bought one and your guide was excellent. Thank you - saved me hours reading through the tiny print manual. 👍
Hmm i am in the midst of choosing between the positive and negative display for this model, i like the green colour appearance but reading from forums and youtube the negative display does not really recommended by others. I am ok with the positive display but i like the outer army green appearance more, so hard to choose.
LOL. I am having the exact same issue. Do the OD Green with a positive display please!
@@franknowakowski3103 haha finally i bought the black one with positive display. Loving it so far. This watch looks really good on wrist.
@@franknowakowski3103 The positive display is much easier to read than the negative display. I like the green one---there used to be a green one with a positive display but it had to be bought from Japan and it was more expensive. Consensus is that the best "negative display" is the Casio GD350 with one.
You can always just buy a green band and bezel to put onto your positive display model. Best of both worlds
Derek Walter awesome idea👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 will search for the green bnb in future. Don’t hesistate to drop by my channel to have a look on my gshock unboxing❤️
I watched this instead of reading the manual, thanks very much.
I'm glad I helped
Watch Geek I do have a question though I can get to the receive screen as at 26:45 in the video, but when I press either the adjust or forward button nothing happens. It shows that the last sinc was a few months ago which makes sense as I live in Australia and the reception isn’t available here. I wanted to make sure it was turned off but I have no access, it only shows the last reception which would have been when just out of the factory. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Probably because your home city is outside of the range so the watch automatically turns off the reception and doesn't allow you to turn it on
Watch Geek I hope that’s it my only concern was battery usage as you mentioned in the video.
Thank you for the reply, great and very detailed videos.
Just got mine for Xmas! Happy dance
Congrats 😊👍
absolutely amazing videos, my rangeman just came in the mail today and i love it. Your videos have helped immensely thank you!
Best G-Shock ever. I got the green version the negative display sucks on that model unfortunately.

тзcн4уоύ get the positive display. With the neg you always have to use the illumination button to read the watch. It is cool but it really does suck.
I love your knowledge and explanations of all things. G-Shock. You go through everything with such ease and authority. You have really found your spot on RUclips. ✍️👏🇺🇸

Im going to join the military in Finland next week and Im wondering if this watch will work? Or what is the best watch for max 300$

Love the tutorial
