Daisuke is also nothing like Jin Sakai irl. He’s nerdy, not particularly well oriented in physical combat and pretty skinny. Immediately assuming the new game is gonna be woke because Erika Ishii voices Atsu, while she has absolutely no power over the script and story of the game. Is exactly the kind of braindead connection that is to be expected from these kinds of people.
That’s a really interesting point you brought up. One of the main things in acting is separating yourself from the art to go fully in to becoming the character you need to play. You’re playing a role… not yourself. And I’m sure Erika’s performance as Atsu will be just that. A humble yet determined warrior inspired by the Ghost.
I must say, thank you, thank you so much for this video, Ghost of Tsushima is my fav game of all time and at some point also saved it, and as much as i screamed and loved the trailer of Ghost of Yotei, I felt some kinf of knot in my stomach due to the backlash from social media, you kinda healed my faith in the future of the game just like Jin entering a hotspring, so thank you this is the game im most excited and expectant about, so just thank you I needed to hear this today, just someone who analysed what IS not what coud be, so thank you
Appreciate you watching, glad you enjoyed my take on all the backlash. I’ll be doing a follow up soon with a more in depth look at what I’m expecting in Ghost of Yotei. It’s gonna turn up the anticipation for sure. Free of all this anti woke bs flying around
@@FILMICGAMINGBad take after bad take. I honestly might make my first RUclips video about you and your really bad video and really bad responses in this comment section. So thanks for inspiring me.
I agree, and looking back is there a game that ever missed from Sucker Punch? I think I’ve loved every single one of their releases… the weakest being Infamous Second Son and I still enjoyed the hell out of that game. Appreciate you watching, thanks for commenting! 👌🏽
Spot on. A capable female fighter is precedented in Ghost of Tsushima, and maybe the only thing that could bring a wokie out of their drab funk is being paid to play an interesting character navigating an actually engrossing narrative? If she drops the ball, just play it in the Japanese dub. Can't wait for this one. I'll probably prioritise it over Gta VI if they drop at the same time...
Oh shit, she was Anma Bray? I'm a hardcore Destiny player, so that fact alone makes me interested in her performance. Nothing about Anna Bray is political whatsoever, and her and her sister and father's backstory is one of the most interesting in the franchise. But that explains why Anna wasn't in Final Shape, her voice actor was busy with Ghost of Yotei.
Yep, like her or not, she’s put in work in the VA world and has worked up until this point. She’s deserves a fair shot like everyone else, and I think Sucker Punch will keep her focused and prepared to deliver a stellar performance. She’s already played serious, and complex female characters before so while this is a step up, it will be right up her alley.
Fortunately sucker punch hasn’t missed on a game they’ve made yet, so I haven’t been fooled even once 😅 there is a first time for everything tho, I will admit that. I don’t think this game will be it tho.
Replace the woke activist with someone that really resembles Miyamoto Musashi. The dual wielding sword legend that lived during that time period. It's so obvious that they want to replace strong legendary men with a girl boss. Don't support this nattative and this agenda that is poisoning the videogame industry right now.
We don’t know what causes Atsu to go down the path of the ghost because the story hasn’t been revealed yet. I fully believe that Sucker Punch will provide the motivation narratively to push us through Atsus journey. The Ainu people who inhabited the Hokkaido region at the time were involved in many conflicts and were known for their rebellions. Whatever the inciting event is, Jin will be in this game as her inspiration, whether spiritually or through some form of a legends mission featuring him. I fully trust Sucker Punch to deliver one hell of a story here, especially based off of the amazing narratives surrounding Masako and Yuna from Ghost Of Tsushima.
And nothing shown in the trailer shows that Erika’s outside antics are permeating this game. She doesn’t have wierd clothes, she doesn’t come off as a brash reckless warrior. She doesn’t have some crazy “woke” hairdo and she’s seems like a powerful, yet silent warrior. The role is the role and Sucker Punch has Erika playing the way it should be. From what we’ve seen so far. I don’t see anything wrong with this, but that’s just my opinion. Appreciate the comment!
Wtf are you on about? They're creating their own protagonist not replacing anyone. And "girlboss"? You don't even know anything about her. Clearly a guy who hasn't played first one.
A lot of the "rage" is essentially folks just connecting the dots in terms of the direction of Sony's sequels over the last 5 years having much of a left leaning bend. Herman Hulst is probably integral to the shift in storytelling style since he became head of the Studios arm in 2020. Last of Us 2, Forbidden West, Ragnarok and most recently Spider-Man 2. All sequels that lean on leftism a lot harder than the prior games. Sucker Punch being left leaning themselves, I can't help but be skeptical that they've created Atsu's story as a way to get rid of Jin Sakai, and in turn gain brownie points from their industry peers. If you haven't noticed, devs and journalists only care of what their peers think of them and don't really care about player sentiment, which in turn has led to the downturn in their business models leading to all these layoffs. The educated man will guess that Yotei is most likely following the trend of recent Sony sequels of being left leaning to the point of sacrificing narrative flow in order to establish virtue signals. With the exception of TLOU2, imo the narratives for GoW 2018, HZD and Spidey were far superior to that of their sequesls. In fact I would be very surprised if they actually end up having the chops to create a believable female warrior whose worthy of being the Ghost. Blue Eye Samurai has already set an extremely high standard of a somewhat believable female warrior. Ultimately though no one's gonna give a fuck about the politics if the game is good. The gameplay is what got me to buy HFW, Ragnarok and SM2 on day one. Still I can't help but be disappointed that there's a very strong chance I'll be let down by the narrative once again.
Side note: I love TLOU2 more than TLOU primarily because they crafted a very believable character in Abby. Ellie has the knife which gives her an edge, whereas Abby is basically Joel from TLOU in terms of gameplay. Yet they show the changes she goes from the day she loses her dad, and what she sacrifices in order to gain her revenge. I don't believe she's meant to be likeable but rather simply understood. Now Naughty Dog are way better at crafting narratives than whatever Sucker Punch has done in the past, so yea I remain highly skeptical and I currently this is just a virtue play instead of an actual sincere effort. I'll know more for a final decision once the game releases. So maybe let people have their own opinions instead of asking them to shut up
@@iamkurogane I think GoW2018 was scaled better than GoW: Ragnarok. For as big as Ragnarok was, it felt like they were trying to cram 2 games worth of story into 1, and at the end of the day, it can feel smaller than it was marketed.
Great set of points. However, I would argue Sucker Punch is perfectly set up to create a great female character. Look at Masako and Yuna’s narratives and complex character arks in Ghost Of Tsushima. You really felt their characters and were invested in them. I just feel like the story told from the perspective of Atsu as a sort of mercenary/ronin inspired by the ghost can be very impactful, and I trust Sucker Punch to tell it the right way. Look at the first 2 infamous games and they’re storytelling history and I don’t think Sucker Punch has missed on a single game story wise except for maybe infamous Second Son and it’s DLC and people still say they actually enjoyed that game all these years later. Their track record lends me to believe this will be a powerful story, but it definitely requires cautious optimism when a dev makes such a drastic l change like this. Appreciate the comment!
FYI: I think you would seriously enjoy this edit I made for the channel a while back called Ugly As I from TLOU 2. It puts in to perspective the similarities and differences between Ellie and Abby and shows the sacrifices that Ellie and Abby made in pursuit of their respective revenge with some powerful music and gameplay. Would love to see what you think on it, and hope you enjoy it! 👌🏽
What was left leaning about GOWR? Freya didn’t even end up killing Odin. The only thing I could imagine is Angrboda being black but that’s such a small issue that I loved the rest of the game
100% Agree. Some people are just desperate to find things they can be offended by and complain about. As someone who really liked Ghost of Tsushima, that trailer was start-to-finish fire imho. Every part of it indicates they are keeping everything about the first game that was awesome, and bumping things up another level for the sequel. Jin was an awesome character, but his story was brought to a solid conclusion, and I hate it when sequels (games, movies, tv included) try to force a reason to continue a finished story for a sequel. Focusing on the Ghost part, and coming up with a new story/location/character is definitely the better choice to do a sequel keeping the core elements but not feeling like "more of the same". The Hokkaido "frontier" location and the nods to the Samurai moveWestern movie relationship perfectly fits with the "we love Kurosawa" theme of the original. The new combat options, the wolf, the old school revenge movie hit list... everything about this looks awesome. And people want to whine about the personal political opinions of an actress? Please 🙄
Well articulated and obviously coming from someone who didn’t just play ghost of Tsushima, but enjoyed the heck out of it. Don’t let the hive mind of rage baiters get to you, we’re going to enjoy one hell of an experience from Sucker Punch come 2025 🥷🏻🐺🗡️
Considering they based the game on Jin and then changed it to this instead. His story was not yet done. The shogun was going to come after him, especially if you kill Shimura. Plus a second Mongolian invasion in Jins lifetime. So, there was all that. This game is actually using the same story, slightly modified, as Jin was going to be the one being chased. I can only speak for myself, but I was more interested in continuing Jins story seeing how he'd either be forgiven or killed at the end
@@FILMICGAMINGThe point wasn’t “well articulated” at all. You saying that the normal people who are rightfully alarmed by the actress’ awful views are a “hive mind” is one of the most Orwellian things I’ve ever read in my life.
I do hope one day they return to Jin and have him take on the Shogun himself, or lead a peasant uprising on the mainland. It can still be called Ghost of Tsushima 2 as this is a different thing entirely. I'm still excited for this game, though, and all the new things it could bring. Just the fact that it's so far into the future means more new weapons will have been invented for use, including the gun in the teailer. But I do hope they someday return to Jin because I'd like to see what happened to him after the events. And maybe after a couple of games with other protagonists going back to Jin will feel extra special.
He’s beloved. And it’s awesome they didn’t outright remove him for Atsu. This is a standalone story. I think they will have much more detail on Jin throughout the game, considering he inspires Atsu, and a full game may be in the works but most likely a DLC will happen like Iki Island where we may get a better and maybe spiritual interaction between Atsu and Jin. We just don’t know… so many possibilities! Appreciate the comment!
umm but jin cant do anything against shogun he wont fight samurais he will just keep running as he wont kill them so i dont think they can make out much from it
Great video! Yeah personally, I always look at the thoughts and thought processes of the _directors and writers_ before deciding if I should worry about how a game is going to come out. I also look at a game studio’s track record. As long as the actress gives a great performance, that’s all she needs to do. This game looks hype! That said, I _really_ need to play Ghost of Tsushima 😅
Yea Sucker Punch is an awesome studio. Their track record and history in my opinion has no misses. People don’t need to look past that if they’re on the fence about the game. And Ghost Of Tsushima is really a must play, you would be lost in that world from beginning to end! Glad you enjoyed 👌🏽🥷🏻🐺
You have a very rational mindset tho, and it’s super respectable because you’re at least giving them a chance to show you more. Cautious Optimism is perfectly fine here.
This is true. One of the main talking points is the fact of continuity being at play here. The vision is the same. Only 1 VA is the difference in reality
If Yotei follows Tsushima at all thematically, the role that Atsu serves/is seen as by others will grow, morph and change as the legends of her exploits grow. That’s like, a huge part of the story of GOT, it would be ridiculous not to play on this trope again in the sequel
Yea, I’ll be doing a deep dive on to the region of Hokkaido where the game will be taking place, it’s known location and history of the people there to get a better sense of the games setting this week. But an Ainu Rebel is definitely one of the better possibilities of who Atsu is here.
Yay! Another person who can see things with "eyes unclouded by hate." You just got a new subsciber with this video. Bonus points if you can name that reference of that quote.
Appreciate you watching and joining the crew! As for the quote - Ashitaka would be proud! And Miyazaki was an excellent writer. Absolutely love all the Ghibli works. “See the good in that which is evil, and the evil in that which is good” 👍🏽
Clan Sakai is gone, and so is that life for Jin after the game. He is a fugitive, and lives out the rest of his days protecting Tsushima from the shadows. His purpose was more likely to pass on the Legend of the Ghost. His techniques and strategies. His motives and code. This is probably what Atsu ends up with 300 years later. It can be revisited but, Jin’s story had closure especially with the Iki Island expansion and Jin’s father.
I'm starting to get sick of people crying "woke" at every damn AAA game that's announced. Straight up every major release has a small sect of haters crying for no good reason. It's really annoying at this point. Any excuse to be unhappy i guess.
They wait in the bushes, and strike as soon as something is shown that’s even slightly different. I get it, there are times when it’s warranted… but it’s too much now, I agree. Appreciate you stopping by!
It’s not a protagonist swap… Jin wasn’t replaced. He’s still Jin. He will most likely be featured in a crazy epic Legends mission or something. She’s INSPIRED by Jin, but it’s not replacing Jin. They can tell this story and come back to Jin in a future game. Just keep an open mind from this 👌🏽
@FILMICGAMING aight, I definetly don't trust any developer enough to pre order a game so I will be waiting for reviews from people I usually Share opinions with on RUclips.
@@michaelthomas9891 That is a reasonable stance. I currently trust Sucker Punch, but I am not going to preorder this game until I see more anyways. Besides, it is almost better to wait to buy a game until after they have done a first patch to the release. But then, I don't have FOMO.
for me as long as the person voicing said character isnt a pedo, and as long as they dont make said character this hardcore lesbian who needs no man shit then im interested, i use to be interested in AC Shadows then i realized its just bad, this looks wonderful
I and a lot of people wanted a continuation of Jins story, they changed that to girl boss fake samurai game with a good trailer fine looks good....then this crazy racist man hateing chick comes out spewing out straight hatered to the consumers ... So sick of games or movies pushing agendas it's crazy. Woke is s over get over it
@@michaeldimartino5228 Okay? Well it's their game and they can do what they want. Also Atsu is not a samurai and who gives a crap what a VA thinks? They're there for their voice, not their opinions
The ghost of yotei hate is ridiculous, the people whining and complaining about the woman protagonist are insane, its not woke because thats not even the correct definition, fine say its diversity, so ? and the people saying she shoudnt be abke to defeat these trained warriors is cap, their blatantly assuming she isnt skilled in combat, she doesn't have op weapodn that jin had, and jin had huge plot armour yet their conveintly ignoring that, oh and the people whining about "eh ugly protagonist wah 🤡"......... really ? Do I need to explain how ridiculous it is to say that ?
Agreed. It’s a matter of perspective. If you look at what Masako and Yuna were able to do in the first game then there’s no debate about how great the game can be! Appreciate you great comment 👌🏽
@@ackeemwilson1148 She also has lots of credits from past works, she fits the nationality of the character and she is just reading the lines that the writers give her. If they take this game into a girlboss direction, it is because the writers and director want it to go that way. Look at the track record of those people before you look at the political leanings of actors. I personally, don't care at all about the opinions of actors. I learned over the past decade that most of them, probably due to liberal arts training, lean a certain direction. What matters is if the developers use the actress to promote the game. And they haven't done that yet. I didn't know who Erica Ishii was until some political activist looked up her personal opinions and whined about it on social media. Conveniently, providing them content and outrage clicks. It was those people that placed Erica Ishii front and center and not either Sucker Punch or Sony.
@ehellstrom7127 excellent point. I don’t even remember Daisuke Tsuji ever being out front and center for the games marketing either. It was all about Jin. That bodes well for the lead up to Ghost Of Yotei. 🥷🏻🐺
What does it take to just enjoy something? Loved the point you made about the og directors still heading this thing. I never had any worries once this was shown off, and the female protagonist is prob the best direction they could’ve went in besides continuing with Jin.
As heath ledger once said “some people just wanna watch the world burn”. Can’t explain the rage baiting but I’m fully confident in Sucker Punch delivering a worthy sequel 🐺🥷🏻
What a great video. Congratulations for making it and fight against all this stupidity. The trailer was amazing, and I am not the bigger fan of GoT. I think it was too big, too long, and its gameplay was eventually repetitive. And I cannot wait for this GoY. The western vibes, the change of character, the change of time, the world... Everything looks amazing, and it's kind of sadness that this marvelous trailer has been obscured for all this nonsense. You put the facts in your video. If someone focus in the actress, and not in the many things this trailer just showed to you, hell man, you've got a serious problem. Subscribed.
I'm with you on thus being an amazing trailer but when it comes to off screen the reason that matters is videos games force people to live vicariously through a character and playing the game becomes personal and when your getting personal you don't want to find out that the actor of the character you've been living through is doing or saying something controversial or fanatic (not sure entirely what was said so I'm not saying she did or didn't say something controversial) when you don't take in account od things like this it can ruin your games experience to come customers the problem is you don't know who.all will be offered so it best to be tactful
Good points but I offer you this question and I’d like to know what you think…from what you’ve seen so far of the character, does it look Erika Ishii is playing herself in Samurai costume ready to blurt out woke/dei things and ruin the game? Or does the she look like she’s playing a character authentically inspired by the ghost in her own genuine story? I tend to agree with the latter
Stunning indeed. I’m ready for colorful fields of plants as far as the eye can see, and seeing temples off in the distance with secrets to uncover and sights of wonder to explore. Game can’t come out quick enough 🥷🏻🐺🗡️
I quoted the joker here earlier.. “some people just want to watch the world burn”. It seems some people are just unhappy and don’t want to give the game a chance.
@@AlfredFJones1776 LOL bro we get it stop trying to act like your a victim edit: also I know you thought that sounded smart so you wrote those words lol
I watched a video the other day that started about Ghost of Yoti but led to him complaining that sony have shifted from male led games to female led games. It truly baffled me that people can care about things like this , that mindset immediately stops them from even considering a good story
Honestly I'm excited. I love playing women characters. And what if the actress is controversial? If it's not pushed in the game somewhere i don't care. Same thing with Harry Potter for me. I can still love the books despite the author ending up being...ehm.. don't even have words for that...
I could honestly say that if we went back and retroactively rejected all forms of art from people with views or beliefs we don’t align with… we’d have no art. I’ll be waiting for the game to come out and be purely judging the game for what it is, not the people that voice acted in it.
I choose to remain faithful that it’ll be good, but as with any game I’m no longer willing to buy day 1 or even month one untill reviewers that weren’t given the game for free have been able to finish it
Yeah, it cracks me up when people say "I'm guy, I don't want to play as a girl." Like what, you are a 13th century samurai? Are you a space marine? Are you a short, pudgy Italian plumber? Sheesh.
@@AlfredFJones1776 Nobody's forcing you to like anything. But don't go spreading hate and misinformation over it. I don't like One Piece so I don't talk about it for example
It's not. Just look something up for once in your life. How can people be so passionate over something they are very obviously not at all knowledgeable about
Because Sucker Punch has stated that the games are not meant to be completely historically accurate, just close enough to have that vibe. It’s a game… media has had female samurai for ages, why is it a problem now? That makes the hate Baseless because the developer is just creating a game not a history lesson. But people claim they are for some reason
Nowhere in the trailer does it say she's a Samurai. Even if you want to just say "female warriors" instead of Samurai, you're still wrong because Ona Bugeisha exist
@@FILMICGAMINGboycott and and tell 5 other people to boycott if our concerns turn out to be correct. If they want a culture war we will give them one where it hurts the most.
Yeh people will defend this game but we all know hate wagon is easier to get on than seeing any good aspect of it and tbh they would’ve been better continuing Jin story since it already has a good fan base rather than gambling on this new female protagonist even if you say those DEI ideas won’t be in the game people will still want Jin that’s just fact the amount of people wanting a new female protagonist is a minority and as much as u wanna argue that having new style could be good, sales will always be the deciding factor
I think it’s safe to say as more info is released along with more gameplay and even the evolution of world exploration, traversal, and side activities along with the story itself that sales will do just fine. Sucker Punch hasn’t missed yet, however I’m well aware that there is a first time for everything. Cautious optimism is key with this one, I’ll say that. Appreciate you watching!
I do agree on that but like u said YT is having a shabang with the rage rn and it will certainly have an impact on sales since people are quick to get on that negative bias and with all the attention it’s getting rn it’ll definitely cast some doubts to many people and will definitely make companies think for a sec if they should make changes base on what the majority wants we already see it happening games being delayed or drastic changes are being done and it’s just a cause and effect since video games are predominantly played by men and when we see games being change for the agenda or activism by LGBTQ or by women or even the tiniest hints of it creates this reaction of negative backlash since we see how a lot of women having this negative out look on “gamer boys “ so it’s just natural to assume that they are now coming to change things to what they think is “good” given that a lot men find games as their only enjoyment or some would even say “escape from reality “ and to see it slowly trickles down to other games is infuriating to many since why would we “trust this people to make good change when they have a negative out look on gamers” not saying all devs are like this or game companies but there’s definitely been a pattern this years of games being woke and people fear that their favorite franchise is next on the list
I can't play a game where modern politics are injected into a scenario where it doesn't make sense. Western studios have to meet certain quotas if they want investment, there is no way escaping it now. Maybe many would like it, but the unauthentic nature will break the immersion for me.
What modern politics are being injected into the game? Choosing to have a story based on a female ghost is not modern politics. It’s a narrative choice. Other than that this will be more Ghost Of Tsushima. Which if you really get down to it, had a bunch of inauthentic qualities, yet no one had a problem with it. I’m down to just let Sucker Punch cook. Appreciate you watching and the comment, I have a follow up ready to go where I will elaborate some more, releasing in a couple days, feel free to chime in! 🥷🏻🗡️🐺
Thanks man, I'm just skeptical. I really hope you're right. As long as there is a good authentic story respectful to Japan's history at the time, with no obvious pandering, I'm down for it. Over the years you get good at noticing patterns though.
Now don't get me wrong to extent I can see the negative side because there has been a trend with over the top female protagonist but I gotta say this is overthinking it by a mile, and I agree with literally everything you said in this video, there's so many things to look forward to and funny enough I think all this controversy is the biggest showcase of people overreacting over the smallest thing. And the thing is as well with people running straight to complaining about a female character and the worry of ideologies being forced down our throats is, they're ruining the future experience for themselves and for others. Because we don't know how "woke" this game is going to be (which i dont think it will be) and to take a few loose factors like a female character/voice actress and run with it make it bigger than it actually is, will be the ruining of their own gameplay.
Very well said. It also shows that they don’t necessarily game for the same reasons most of us do. I can say with confidence that one of the things I can’t wait to do in Ghost Of Yōtei is explore and see what the new amazing vistas will be in the game. I’m not worried about the Voice Actress. While the character is important Sucker Punch has made it clear that the world and environment are just as important of a character.
You are aware that the trailer got mainly amazing ratings? So, you are rage-bating in exactly the same way about a rather small group of people, aren't you? Neither you nor anyone has obligation to share or understand anyone's worries, but such a statement somewhat invokes a feeling of hypocrisy.
You’re just choosing to look at my video that way. I simply made a video discussing how awesome I thought the trailer was and my disappointment at the controversy that showed up afterwards. It was not a small crowd, it was a decent amount of people that showed they didn’t like the casting and the decision to have a female protagonist and to move away from Jin. And then I left it at that for everyone to discuss. Just look at all my comments here and how much I feed in to the positivity. Not the negativity. Appreciate the comment and appreciate you watching tho! 👌🏽

Bro 79% of Sucker punch employes are men and 21% are women and the picture of female developers in SPP is taken on international women's day in 2018 before Ghost of tsushima was even relased, "but female samurais didn't existed" in Feudal Japan there were female warriors called Onna-musha who fought alongside samurai and if you plyed mythic tale about Tadayori you fought a Kaede the Tadayori's heir and she's fucking female samurai they even forgot about Lady Masako, Yuna, Fune and Eagle and team of developers that is making Ghost of Yotei is the same team that made Ghost of Tsushima, and about the relase date i think it will be on 17th of July 2025 right on the 5th anniversary of GOT.
That’s seems like a solid release date. Especially with Sony now wanting to announce games closer to the release date. Agree with all the points you made and while she was an archer, Tomoe, Ishikawa’s student that went rogue was another prominent female warrior in the game. Definitely feel the game is in great hands 🙌🏼
It is widely thought that 2025 is really ambitious so late 2025/early 2026, but it’s been said that Sony has shifted their strategy to announcing games closer to their release rather than years out like before. Won’t be surprised with a slight delay tho.
Its not baseless. Before any of you say it's set 300 years in the future so jin is not being replaced is just dumb. They obviously did that so people like you would parrot that when the backlash would happen. Jins story was not done, this is called a bait and switch. It never happens the other way around were a female character gets replaced with a male. Sucker punch has always been left leaning and recently it seems radical left. Do you think they hired the VA because she's a good VA? No, they hired her because of her politics. If you people cannot see what's going on in the world with all the men hate and especially whuuite men hate not just in video games but everywhere you are blind. I know Jin was japanese but again he was a man and radical leftist hate them also, too close to whuuite. They knew they could get people to buy there game with him in it, and than bam turn around and replace him in the next for the heckin strong female they wanted in the first place.
Look you have valid concerns. But did you not see how Masako, Yuna and Tomoe were directed and depicted on screen? What about those characters and performances showed you that Sucker Punch allows politics to infest their art? Atsu will be a culmination of what they did with female characters in the first game. If the way those roles played out are any indication, then the game will be awesome. It’s baseless in the sense of that it’s clear the vision is the same and the character shown is not out there spewing nonsense. It’s still authentic so all these conspiracies about Sucker Punch having an agenda are not warranted. I’ll be doing a follow up video since there’s been a lot of great debate here on this! Appreciate the comment 👌🏽
The same way you’re assuming it will not be the same. Massively assuming. I’m at least basing my assumptions off of what I’ve seen in the trailer, Sucker Punch’s track record, previous female performances in GOT, and the fact that leadership has not changed and been replaced. Still Nate Fox and Jason Connell, not some other woke Directors coming in to replace or take over like what’s going on with Halo. But his points have a lot of merit for sure. The industry has unfortunately soured the taste of the fans with DEI agendas and horrible games. He’s warranted in his opinion, as are you. Definitely points I’ll discuss in the follow up 👌🏽

It’s unfortunate, but it looks like the people who do care, won’t be letting it go any time soon. They’re pretty stuck on hating the decision Sucker Punch has made here. We’ll just have to wait and see if the game proves everyone wrong.
Don’t try to slander shadows, people misunderstanding certain things in the language and criticizing a promotional pitch is one thing sure there was a battle reenactment flag incident which makes sense why you would call that out but majority of this shit was just racism. 100% they didn’t like the black guy and they didn’t like the actual Asian protagonist because she was a female, now you have a similar situation where people don’t want the Asian protagonist as a female and now you’re trying to run damage control, no no no these are the same people who are your audience deal with it.
Damage control? I’ve never made a video about shadows, and I’m actually just starting out so the audience is just now growing. And I said that there will be respect for the samurai, unlike Assassins creed shadows. Along with mentioning the delay and how much it sucks since 2025 is stacked with games. I’m probably still going to try the game out, the situation around it sucks and it’s self inflicted by Ubisoft though.
@@FILMICGAMING sure thing Brody, I’ll just watch the comments on your channel, the game will continue to be called woke no matter what, simply because of the female protagonist not just because of the voice actress, these people don’t understand what a video game is. If Masako, and Yuna existed in the first game, then I’m sure Sucker Punch will do right by us and give us amazing character in Atsu. They just understand Characters, and how to give them a story worth telling. We do have to wait and see at the end of the day tho, so I agree with you there 👌🏽
Nah dont call it baseless controversy, fam. Just because the trailer doent show any red flags doesnt mean there aren't signs its could easily end up as woke dei slop. Right now, no one knows what its gonna be like forreal until it comes out, but after scrapping jin and replacing him, apparently they had a character model all set up for him and everything then scrapped it, it makes people anxious. The severity of that anxiety may vary from person to person, but it's in no way baseless. People are bracing for impact because if you havent noticed big budget games are basically saying fuck you to their male customer base and that's not cool. Women wanna treat videogame characters like real people so let's not forget they shot batman in the head and tried to make you pay to see it. The gaming industry might not pander to men as much and that's chill I dont mind, but this shit is obviously malicious.
@@andrewskyy4480 Okay? You ever think that model came from an early point in the development cycle before they decided to make Ghost an anthology? Not everything has some bizarre messaging behind it. I'm a Persona fan, they change the MC every game, one time they even replaced the MC with a woman and nobody thought anything of it so why should we now when we barely have anything to go off?
It is inherently baseless by your own argument. We have seen barely anything except a few vague yet promising things. They did not scrap Jin and replace him…. Jin still exists in the universe and will be a very big influence on Atsu. Without seeing much more people straight up writing the game off because of a Voice Actress’ political views is quite literally baseless. No one is talking about the industry mess ups as a whole. You’re going macro when I’m speaking on Sucker Punch and this game. Nothing is wrong with cautious optimism. The people who can articulate why they feel a way towards the change are not the people I’m speaking on in this video. I’m speaking on the people who saw “woman” and the rage bait on her views and said “this game will be trash”. I don’t think you fall in to that category, but the controversy around this game (at this moment) is at the very least baseless. I stand by that. That’s the point of me putting my opinion out. Really do appreciate you watching and the comment, and all of this will be spoken on in the follow up!

There’s a sense of cautious optimism from some and that’s warranted. It’s the people completely shutting themselves off that confuse me when we know so little about the game so far.

He wasn’t replaced… they moved in to the future and are telling the story of someone inspired by the ghost. Jin is still Jin. And he very well may be in the game. One of the legends missions could be based off of him. You’re saying lame without even seeing the character in action. Since Jin wasn’t replaced they could very well come back to him in the future as well to continue his story. The controversy is baseless because the game has barely been shown off.
@@FILMICGAMING He isn't the protagonist anymore when he was the star of the first game. He was replaced. Drop the sophistry. I've already seen enough of this character. It's an ugly, unappealing character based off an unlikable, ugly actress. I'm not wasting hours of my life looking at that. You can repeat the claim that it's baseless but I have already proven the base. Jin is a beloved character and we don't get top play as him when his story was clearly not finished. Instead, we get some ugly chick samurai with an obnoxious VA.
If you want to see the same character again and again, just play ghost of tsushima. I am excited for NEW great characters and games. Jin was great, but that's no reason to demand a sequel to be the same thing over and over again, how stupid.
@@felitzitasmay6257 I expect the sequel that was clearly set up for the first game considering the fact that the story wasn't complete. You're excited for this garbage character in Yotei? Good for you.
"Baseless?" You can argue that it's unwarranted as SP doesn't have a miss but don't gaslight gamers by saying the controversy is baseless when so many other studios have been making shit products that on the surface, GoY resembles. I'm in a place of apprehension right now because I loved GoT (and have started another playthrough that I plan to 100%). I hope it turns out to be a better game than the original but I cannot say I'm sure it'll turn out that way.
Not gaslighting anyone. I stated my opinion. And left it open for dialogue from the community. We have seen barely anything from the game. What resembles all those crap products from what we’ve seen of GoY so far? Same Directors. Same emphasis on beautiful scenery. Cinematography and atmosphere all look like awesome evolutions of what we’ve had in GoT. Character seems to be a warrior in silence, with seeking vengeance being the only thing on her mind. No cringe girl boss lines said, and no random Blue DEI haircut or something. We saw a sick ghost mask, so they’re still going down that route of creating a legend with dark and dishonorable actions perhaps. Awesome weapons, a VERY small glimpse of combat… so how is there a base to stand on for the controversy? Other than worrying about someone’s life outside of the workplace and forcing the narrative that it will somehow affect the game. She is a VA… not a director. Not a writer, not an animator. Not a head of marketing. She’s a VA and Motion cap actress. This is by no means me attacking your views. Just starting a dialogue and wanting you to elaborate. I will be doing a follow up video so I will definitely discuss your points! Appreciate you watching and the comment! 🥷🏻🐺🗡️

Spot on. A capable female fighter is precedented in Ghost of Tsushima, and maybe the only thing that could bring a wokie out of their drab funk is being paid to play an interesting character navigating an actually engrossing narrative?

Fool me once, shame on me, fool me 10000x times, y-y-you dont fool me 100000x times.
Well said, my brother !

How?
Appreciate the comment!
umm but jin cant do anything against shogun he wont fight samurais he will just keep running as he wont kill them so i dont think they can make out much from it
This is actually a great point.

I could honestly say that if we went back and retroactively rejected all forms of art from people with views or beliefs we don’t align with… we’d have no art. I’ll be waiting for the game to come out and be purely judging the game for what it is, not the people that voice acted in it.
I choose to remain faithful that it’ll be good, but as with any game I’m no longer willing to buy day 1 or even month one untill reviewers that weren’t given the game for free have been able to finish it
I’ll be sure to purchase it and give a genuine review when it comes out! 👌🏽
oh no a woman... anyway
You’ve got the right idea. It’s time to just enjoy games again 🥷🏻🐺
Yeah, it cracks me up when people say "I'm guy, I don't want to play as a girl." Like what, you are a 13th century samurai? Are you a space marine? Are you a short, pudgy Italian plumber? Sheesh.

Female samurai protagonist is pure fantasy created by western developer. How is that baseless.

Y'know if people are worried about erika..ya can just play the japanese voice over so ya dont gotta listen to her
Very true someone mentioned that earlier. I actually remember having more fun in my play through with the Japanese voiceover 👍🏽

There was no story to continue for Jin, tourist. Play the game.
Sucker punch writes the story, not Sony, so we should be getting FED
I can’t wait to see what the inciting incident is that sends Atsu on the path we see in the trailer. I agree the story should be awesome.
@FILMICGAMING I hope we get the same force of nature-like ghost.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏽
@@paradoxic1888 very valid concerns. The Gaming Industry has unfortunately lost the benefit of the doubt slowly over the last decade.
It's such a small group of people that sony delayed the release, worried about bad reception.

Agree
@@FILMICGAMING as i said bro Ghost of Yotei is developed by the same developers that made Ghost of Tsushima so no one in development team is replaced
I know it’s one of the main topics and has its own chapter in the video. It’s the main reason I know the game will be fine 👌🏽
@@FILMICGAMING Yea bro i am seriously hyped too, stay safe until then
@combataceguy you too! Appreciate you watching and thanks for the comment! I’ll be making a follow up video soon!
I heard that the game might not come out in 2025. More like 2026.
Solid points my guy. You completely dismantled this awful video. I agree that the bait and switch is a pattern with Sony. They did it with Last of Us.
@@FILMICGAMINGHow do you know it will be the same? You’re assuming things, massively assuming things.

That's enough of a reason. The rest is just confirmation.
Jin was great, but that's no reason to demand a sequel to be the same thing over and over again, how stupid.
,,lame''? Did sucker punch send you the script? It seems you know more than everyone about her
