    First off, longer videos are great! In Germany Lamy is the main brand of fountain pens used in school, so I like the look but I was one of the first to switch to ballpoint as soon as we were allowed. Recently I tried them again but the grip section is just too long for me and I also don‘t like the nibs, although I haven‘t tried their extrafine yet. Maybe it‘s because I like pocket pens and am used to smaller grip sections?
    Also wanted to mention if you have ink stuck maybe it‘s worth getting a bulb syringe. I had ink stuck in the feed of a Preppy and let it soak in water for several hours and then used the bulb syringe and it‘s totally cleaned out. Same goes for the dry TRC fountain pen, maybe it‘s worth cleaning it out with the bulb syringe. Mine dried out so it needs the same treatment soon 😂
    I think it‘s fine to keep a fountain pen for sentimental reasons even if you are never going to use it. It‘s not taking up much space in its box and if you are ready to part with it in the future it served a purpose as well. Thanks for sharing, I love watching videos like this! 💌

      Hey! First off, thanks for watching and commenting :) Great to know you enjoy the longer videos. I did watch an interview by Brian Goulet where he interviewed the CEO of Lamy and he mentioned it was used in all schools in Germany. It is so neat! I can imagine doing the same (switching to ball point) if I were in your situation. I will try to clean out my fountain pens more often, I don't do it much and only do it when switching inks. I think I need to get wire mesh because I have no way to remove debris in the tines. Sometime paper pulp can build up in there too. Glad it's fine to keep sentimental pens even if one does not use it, I bet kon mari would disapprove!

    Love your collection, definitely adding some of them on my wishlist :) About Lamy nibs, it happened the same to me. I order an EF and F but in black (they have the steel ones in silver and in black) and oh woman, what a difference!! So much better. I recommend you to try those, they are cheap.

      Yes I've tried the black Lamy nibs and it's so smooth!! They are always the ones out of stock 😆

    Fellow Torontonian here, and close by Wonder Pens myself. My Lamy nibs check out great, mediums write smoother than fine. The F nibs will smooth out with use. For the inky situation, soaking with warm water will push into the hard-to-reach section, so try it out. That said, that pen will need higher maintenance, so try not to keep the ink in it for too long.

      I bought another Lamy. I'll definitely be staying away from ef with their nibs. Did you mean to soak the Parker 75? I haven't used that one much because it is more fragile.

    Thank you for this long video. Wonderful to see your collection and the ink swatches too.
    the TWSBI Diamond Mini is available in rose gold !
    And, you can get the inner cap out of that Kaweco sport by using an old fashioned pencil with an eraser. Stick the eraser end into the cap and put pressure on the side. You can drag it out this way.
    thank you again.

      Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! The Rose Gold is only available in the white version and although it's on my list, a black and gold mini would be nice to see. Yeah I tried the cap and eraser method but to no avail. Think it's just gonna be a right off. Glad you enjoyed the video! ☺️

    New subbie. Nice to see a fellow Canadian. I have a Jinhao chinese dragon pen. I used it once in April and once that ink was finished it got put away it's not fun to write with but I'm keeping it in my collection because it's pretty. Great collection.

      Hey, thx for subscribing 🙏🏻💕 I feel like that's what will happen to more of my lesser used pens, I'll put it away and just keep it. Especially when my collection is still in the beginner to intermediate phase...lots of pen experiment and learning what I like and don't like!

    I've been in the fountain pen hobby for about 8 years, and I've had multiple issues with Lamy as well, so it's not just you. One of my best pen friends has a great deal more patience than I do and kept on buying Lamy when I had given up on them, but she finally admitted defeat when it became apparent that she kept getting pens with major issues. I would recommend a Pilot Prera, it's small with a steel nib (closer to a vintage size) and light weight and not very expensive (for a fountain pen). Your Parker has a squeeze mechanism :)

    • @toxmot
      @toxmot  2 года назад +1

      It's too bad about Lamy. It's also surprising the amount of users that have experienced issues. But yes, I do have my eye on the Perera. It looks like a very nice pen and have heard about the satisfying pen cap closure.

    This was a nice video. I am one of those people that appreciate long videos. I recently purchased a Twsbi Eco in Broad and the nib was horrible. It kept skipping every few words. I got a new broad nib for it and it skips less, but still happens...I am thinking maybe something is just off about the broad nibs for Twsbi Ecos. I have a Twsbi Eco in F nib and it writes great. Having experience this flubber with broad nibs for my Eco makes me not want to use broads anymore even though I adore them lol so I feel you on your Lamy experience. One sour experience tends to turn me away from something for awhile haha.

    • @toxmot
      @toxmot  3 года назад

      Hey thanks for letting me know you prefer a longer video! And that is so unfortunate about the broad nib 😔 I've never had a broad twsbi but I can imagine how frustrating that is. It definitely might be a hit or miss for the broads if that keeps happening. Maybe ask for a replacement if possible because it shouldn't be skipping every few words, sounds like something is stuck in the tines. But yeah I would be so put off too.

      I love my twisbi broad nib. Have your tried using different inks? I find some brands of ink work better in different brand of pens?

    • @toxmot
      @toxmot  3 года назад

      @@stephaniesews5889 I don't mind a broad nib but my writing is small so it looks chunky. Perhaps I can use it for bigger lettering in my journal. As for inks, I haven't had issues with any but maybe it was too wet? I don't think that's the issue because I mostly own dry inks. Thanks for the suggestion :)
