Oh Fountain Pens!! Where do I begin! A life long love story! I love Kaweco and Lamy, particularly Kaweco, the writing is so smooth, it almost writes itself! I had always been a medium nib person, but Kaweco has converted me to an Extra Fine nib when I first tried it in 2020. I can go on and on about fountain pens. I dream of a Mont Blanc ( Rolls Royce of fountain pens ), some day. A WANT, not a need, obviously; but nothing wrong to dream on stationeries/ art supplies! When I travel, I always go to the local stationary and art supply stores!! Thank you for reviewing your amazing collection!! Love it!
I totally agree!! Kaweco pens write like an absolute dream and just glide! I love the medium nibs, too! I agree it's totally appropriate to dream of art supply splurges! My FP splurge would be two Pelikan pens (the lilac and white in size 400 and 600)!! Maybe one day haha! ❤️🤗❤️ Thank you for watching my friend!
Oh I feel you! I just got into fountain pens too and I'm trying my best to hold myself back from buying them all. My rules are pretty simple: Do not repeat models and do not repeat colors. So far it has been working well! I also try to get FPs that have weird nibs;; I think that makes it even more fun! Anyways thank you for the video, it made me reflect a lot about my puchases! :>
That's a great approach!! I so tried to make rules but then I never followed them 😂🤣 But those are great parameters and would have led to a more manageable collection had I followed them! ❤️🤗

The Jinhao Centennial 100 in Teal is a wonder one I got recently, they really make a nice nib!

This was so exciting, I never realized how many fellow artists are in also love with fountain pens. I mean it makes so much sense because there is so much pleasure in the art of writing and also the instruments and materials themselves. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! Absolutely, writing with a fountain pen is the closest thing to painting (without painting) that I could imagine! Now what drew you in, the satisfying cap snap, or the look of the pen or how it writes? I could talk fountain pen for ages and I don't know ANYONE in my in person life who is into pens, so it's all my RUclips family for me on this one! 😅
@@CreatingCuteArt what really drew me in was when you mentioned that it was a super smooth writer. I don't own any broad nib pens and this one just looked like it glided along so nicely and dropped a lot of ink. I am also left-handed and I have heard that broader nibs are easier to write with for lefties as they dont dig into the paper as much when writing. ALSO, it looks so lovely and modern :)

I have 4: Pilot Metropolitan (fine nib), Lamy Safari (fine nib), Lamy Al-Star (extra fine nib), and my most recent purchase is a TWSBI Swipe (extra fine nib). I’ve tried stub nibs and broad nibs but I’m not a fan of thicker nibs. I use my Lamys and my TWSBI for sketching and line work and my Metropolitan for writing. I love Platinum inks (I have Carbon black and Sepia) and De Atramentis Document Ink in Dark Blue. I love fountain pens too! I also love dip pens!
Oooooh fun!! I've yet to master dip pens but I like to play with them during inktober! What color is your Al-Star? I love those and will eventually get one of those and a metal Kaweco but I'm not in a rush 🤗☺️❤️

I always love seeing the humble workhorse Jinhao 992 still in peoples collections, because if it weren't for that pen I would have never gotten obsessed with fountain pens the way I am now :)

I fell into the art youtuber to fountain pen youtuber pipeline, as well. 😂💜 I watched Teoh Yi Chie (sp?) As well as Peter Draws, and those were some of my first exposures to fountain pens in use. I always wanted to try out a fountain pen since I started doing art, but I always pictured it to be difficult... not knowing I had a Pentel Pocket Brush fountain pen. 🤪
Anyway, my first fountain pen was a Duke Fude because of Teoh. I have yet to get a Kaweco Sport, but the brass one is in my list of wants when I have funds!
I'm gonna stop blabbing and watch the video now. 🙂💜
Ok I could not relate to this more! I also watched a ton of Teoh's videos, as well as Koosie Koone's 'sketchbook school' videos (she used a Lamy fountain pen a lot for sketching) and wanted to use them to draw, felt intimidated, and had no idea my pocket brush pen was literally a "fountain pen" with the cartridges until I ran out of ink for the first time (LOL!)! Thanks for letting me know I'm in good company! :) !
Well I am a real beginner, I got a Lamy safari for architecture school, but I really am thinking getting the moonman mini, is so cute.

YESSSS!!!!! I love seeing people using inexpensive pens because they are really overlooked! I just bought a Moonman C1 with a bent nib on Amazon and it's BLOWING my MIND. I love love love it. It's so fun with cool inks- I have sailor studio #280 in mine right now. I love seeing your collection- very fun!
The bent nibs are awesome! I recently put a huge 1.5 stub on my C1 and filled it with Sailor Shikiori Yamadori and I’ve been OBSESSED! Love my cheap pens!!

Ohhh that sounds like a stunning combination! A Pelican is the only fancy pen left on my list (I’m obsessed with the lavender and white M400) but that will probably have to be a celebration buy! 🤗👍❤️

Hi Maggie, love your collection. Can you suggest a few affordable cartridge pens and permanent black cartridges for someone who wants to buy their first pens. For inking and watercolor.thanks so much!
Platinum Carbon Black ink is what I find reliable for waterproof inking under watercolor, and it does come in cartridge form! For affordable cartridge converter pens that I enjoy, I think that Lamy pens are fun, affordable, and come in a bunch of colors. I love the Jinhao Centennial 100, that pen feels super lux for such an affordable pen and also comes in amazing colors. I also see the Pilot Kakuno being preferred even over the Pilot Metro that I started with, and that one also comes in fun colors and has faces on the nibs! I love love love Pilot nibs. The Pilot Prera also comes very highly recommended, although I haven't tried it yet! Have fun on this wonderful journey!
This is a wonderful video, thanks for sharing so much information. I want to try a fountain pen but there are so many options, it's hard to figure out how to get started. I'll definitely check out Goulet Pens since I liked the look of those Mooman T1s but you mentioned that you needed to change out the nibs. Anyway, I've recently found your art hauls, which are so fun and wanted to thank you for your content!

Welcome!! I got the 1.1 stub nib and I love it!! Just make sure you check if the pen is a size 5 or size 6, if I remember correctly that one was a 5 but it's worth googling to confirm before you buy!! The one I got fit perfectly!!

I actually love to draw with all different color inks! They’re often not lightfast and usually water soluble so I just play with them in my sketchbook. I did a video called How To Make Art With Ink several videos ago that you might enjoy!! Made a bunch of whales, SO much fun!
