What about Akira Toriyama? He even makes fun of himself with his inability to draw different female faces, to a point that this is a recurrent joke in Dr. Slump's stories.
I knew a guy, "J", like that in high school. Everyone who drew in school wanted to be good like him. Only one other guy, "A", and a girl, "S", ever got close in their own styles.
From his tweets, he's currently doing work on Harleen and has posted concept art for Poison Ivy. Loving this series, man. Keep it up. Since I'm a big manga guy, and I love hearing you talk about manga here, here are some more manga artists I think you should definitely check out. Either just because there stuff looks incredible or because things they do could be interesting to talk about: - Makoto Yukimura : (Vinland Saga)
I'd love to see you cover yoshihiro togashi just because of how inconsistent he is. Sometimes it's incredibly vivid and detailed with immaculate framing (dark continent drawing) and other times it's just lazy (I'm aware he has back problems). I'd also love to see you touch on the contrast in skill with him drawing fantasy monsters vs drawing people.
With every episode you make me look up more artists that i have never heard of before but their art i'm in love with now. (Also love how much you know/research about the artists and the comics. I don't know a whole of that stuff bc it's hard to get american comics in my country and i never looked into the artists and this kind of comic before now)
As a hopefully future professional artist I gotta say these reaction videos have become one of my go-to weekly viewings. I learn a lot about framing and composition by looking at all these panels and covers, even if I don’t do comic art myself, as well a looking up artists I’m not always that familiar with to learn from them. This is weekly art crack and I’m hooked.
Ps. Check out Mateo Santolouco who draws for the current Ninja Turtles comics and for manga Nobuhiro Watsuki, especially on his earlier work on Rurouni Kenshin.
I'm so glad you addressed the same face syndrome. I feel so many artists ignore it as not a big deal, but don't understand that it can sometimes be frustrating to the viewer, especially when they can't distinguish between characters. I understand that it's hard and as an artist, I struggle with it too, but with enough time and effort, it can be avoided as well.
Kim works from memory, he explained his thought process and how he got where he did by an exercise he did in the military. He looked at shapes (planes, cars, people) and traced over the top of them with his mind. Its a really good exercise because it forces you to identify lines and break down complex forms into basic shapes.
Love this series. As a self-taught, broke artist who can't afford school, I'm actually learning quite a bit from it. Edit: Could you look at Hiroyuki Takei? He's one of those artists I absolutely love for his dynamic work, but as a kid I learned some seriously bad habits from his work on Shaman King as well. Would love to see your take on him.

Great as always! I have a suggestion, probably not for this series, but I'd love some reactions to animation art. In particular, the art in Makoto Shinkai's films have always blown my mind. "Your Name" in particular has some just amazingly detailed and gorgeous art in it.
"These two characters?!!!!" I thought you were the nerdiest art channel on youtube! these two characters are anduin and sylvanas, you should know that bud D: btw your art is sick keep on grinding :D
Todd Mcfarlane's spider-man is my favorite. I personally like his use of heavy ink. It make it's look kinda rough and unique instead of being clean. It reminds me of Barry Windsor-Smith art on wolverine weapon x run. Great video by the way.
I really appreciate your editing in these vids. Like whenever you want to point out a certain section, like spawn’s cap for example, you section it out with yellow so the viewers can see what you’re talking about. And when you showed all the faces of the characters of that one artist in black and white to show how similar they look. Idk just wanted to say I appreciate the hard work that goes into this. 😊👍
Something worth mentioning with manga art is that, with most manga, it’s a collaborative affair, with assistants doing parts of the panels, such as backgrounds, while the main artist just does the main characters. I don’t know how the Vagabond artist does it, but it’s possible that the backgrounds you praise so rightfully here weren’t even done by him. This collaborative style makes sense, though, when you consider that many manga series are released with weekly chapters of up to twenty pages, so they have to produce amazing art amazingly fast. Again, though, I don’t know much about Vagabond specifically, but it’s worth considering the process of manga art when doing these videos so you can give credit where credit is due. Love your videos!
Takehiko Inoue's artwork is the most fabulous thing I've seen in a long time. And used to work in an art museum. I haven't been into comics for a long time but I think I'm hitting the local shop just to have that man's beautiful artwork in hand. Wow!
I'm not complaining but I haven't really seen any "bad" art in these videos lately, just little analyses that help me and others understand the art. Like I said, not complaining, in fact I love how you decide to not be negative with anything unlike some others, Keep up the good work :3
Stjepan šejić's style for aquaman looks really similar to alex ross' work. And i love it, they way they stay true to the orogibal source material from the golden/silver age of comics while also using realistic lighting and textures like their suits look like actual fabric or leather or spandex. i love it so much
i love this illustrator reacts series, you're realy good at explaining the arts and because of you i discover Kenneth Rocafort which is a great artist keep it up, man
I hate when different characters have same face. I love when their faces are so consistent throughout comics (and even different artists) that you recognize the character even in civilian clothes, like Clark Kent for example. His face is always the same. This should be done with all comic characters.
the first piece really reminds me of a lot if my kids books. These big pictures with so much detail going on in every corner. Like pictures of an airport or a construction site. Or this ship with the hull cut open so can look inside etc.
You liking the landscape stuff by Takehiko Inoue just makes me more convinced you should have a look at some of Rosinski's work on Thorgal. The way he does his environments is so satisfying. Those Sejic character designs are next level.
I love your videos you inspired me to draw more and the picture I submitted for the community redraw was not that good, but now a week later I am getting better and have started drawing different poses. Thanks so much
Love McFarlanes Spider-Man. I had to roll my eyes a bit when you then put up pics of Bagley and Ramos versions cos those are two I'm really not fond of. Bagley was alright but I find his depiction often feels kind of weak and feeble and his character faces and expressions often don't convince and look too similar. Ramos' style I just could never get into. His facial work and anatomy is like Joe Mads gone too far. Mad is grear but he knows when to stop and keeps from going too cartoony. Ramos' work often looks ugly to me. I'd say it's mellowed a bit in recent comics I've seen of his though. But yeah McFarlanes has some wonky art and faces too but I live his Spider-Man pose and web panels so much. As you said he pretty much redefined several aspects of how to draw the character and very influential to everyone who followed. By the way that Spawn film is pretty bad. The old animated series was great though. Spawn was voiced by awesome actor Keith David and it had an adult tone. Not a Saturday morning cartoon at all. 🙂
my favorite thing about sejic is how much personality and emotion he can put in just a little warm up sketch. those warm ups of wonder woman are my favorite art of her
Love these videos! It's easy to see when art is good, but sometimes its hard to tell why it's good, and you explain that so well! I don't know if you need more suggestions for artists, but here are two Yukimura Makoto, specifically his later work on Vinland Saga as that when his character designs get more detailed. His backgrounds and posing have always been pretty good. Chris Riddell, he's a book illustrator so some of his stuff (edgec hronicles specifically) has a darkness to it that's just really fun to look at.
I suggest checking out works by Tetsuo Hara, the artist behind Fist of the North Star. He draws incredible panels, specially when it comes to character details.
Appreciate that you have comic artists from around the world. And the fact you are willing to say negative things about Mr Campbell even though you are a big fan.. 😊
I love that you got to Sean Murphy. He's definitely one of my favorite. I first ran into his work on DeviantArt where he posts his Hellblazer (Constantine) work years ago.
So happy to see Vagabond this episode. The work with all the leaves makes me open-mouth stare everytime I see it. As for suggestions for next, it's hard to find one specific page or panel to look at, but if you could find some way to talk about Eiichiro Oda's One Piece, that'd be amazing (Also, I stop playing Hearthstone and reading WoW Chronicles to take a break from Warcraft, and it just follows me lol)
Stjepan is a genius. His art is always dynamic and painterly. Love every panel he does. Would love to see you do a video looking at Kris Anka or Ryan Ottley.

And when you showed all the faces of the characters of that one artist in black and white to show how similar they look. Idk just wanted to say I appreciate the hard work that goes into this. 😊👍
I'd like to see your reactions to some older comic art. Like Jack Kirby and Neal Adams.
Fun fact: the guy who illustrated and wrote Vagabond also wrote and illustrated one of the best sports manga of all time, Slam Dunk
I'd love to see you react to some more "bad" art.
The "drawing the same face on all your characters" also applies to John Romita Jr. Same nose, eyes and jawline for all...
Takehiko Inoue's artwork is the most fabulous thing I've seen in a long time. And used to work in an art museum. I haven't been into comics for a long time but I think I'm hitting the local shop just to have that man's beautiful artwork in hand. Wow!
*what did the traffic light say to the car*
DONT LOOK! I AM ABOUT TO *CHANGE!*
How do you put a baby astronaut to sleep?

I love these videos their so educational and yet so much fun!!!!!!!!keep up the great work man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
David Mazzucchelli fom Batman Year One would be cool :)
You can't beat ONE art its godlike writing and story is out of this world
You have to put in the good art olivier coipel, esad ribic ( on thor) and jim cheung
I'm not complaining but I haven't really seen any "bad" art in these videos lately, just little analyses that help me and others understand the art. Like I said, not complaining, in fact I love how you decide to not be negative with anything unlike some others, Keep up the good work :3
Dave McKean from Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth ;)
Stjepan šejić's style for aquaman looks really similar to alex ross' work. And i love it, they way they stay true to the orogibal source material from the golden/silver age of comics while also using realistic lighting and textures like their suits look like actual fabric or leather or spandex. i love it so much
liam sharp, jason fabok, bryan hitch, or gary frank would be awesome choices for a next video
Especially Liam Sharp, very interesting metal stylisation
This is a great video series!!! Very informative for us all art students, keep up the great job man!
The McFarlane style of Spider-Man is dope as heck
i love this illustrator reacts series, you're realy good at explaining the arts
and because of you i discover Kenneth Rocafort which is a great artist
keep it up, man
I hate when different characters have same face.
Would you look at Video Game concept art? Because Monster hunter and Final Fantasy have pretty awesome artwork.
You liking the landscape stuff by Takehiko Inoue just makes me more convinced you should have a look at some of Rosinski's work on Thorgal. The way he does his environments is so satisfying.
Those Sejic character designs are next level.
Is it just me or spawn's cape on that spawn 300 cover looks like big "S" ? Maybe it's my imagination, maybe it's what it is
Stjepan's wonder woman is just like so beefy and he's become one of my favorite dc artists so thank you for introducing me to him
When u hit 1mil just remember dope destiny was there from the start😉
I've never heard of Stjepan Sejic before, but I think I'm already in love with their work.
I love that u talk about amazing good art but. U kind of just took up one bad drawing.... I would love to see more 50/50 of the good and The bad art.
So nice to see Takehiko sensei's work here!
You might have heard of "Slam Dunk"? Yeah that's him
I also think you have better roughs than finished pieces
my favorite thing about sejic is how much personality and emotion he can put in just a little warm up sketch. those warm ups of wonder woman are my favorite art of her
Fav series on RUclips atm please continue
Love these videos! It's easy to see when art is good, but sometimes its hard to tell why it's good, and you explain that so well!
I don't know if you need more suggestions for artists, but here are two
Yukimura Makoto, specifically his later work on Vinland Saga as that when his character designs get more detailed. His backgrounds and posing have always been pretty good.
Chris Riddell, he's a book illustrator so some of his stuff (edgec hronicles specifically) has a darkness to it that's just really fun to look at.
The the J. Scott Campbell cover, you missed that the red cape is making a big "S" with Spawn at the center. Clever!
I suggest checking out works by Tetsuo Hara, the artist behind Fist of the North Star.
He draws incredible panels, specially when it comes to character details.
Never stop making these man
You're killing it with this series! Good work!
I really love these videos. It's cool to see that even professionals can have art that doesn't work.
Appreciate that you have comic artists from around the world. And the fact you are willing to say negative things about Mr Campbell even though you are a big fan..
😊
Yay! You did Stjepan Sejic! I would also recommend Hiroaki Samura's work on Blade of the Immortal, absolutely stunning
I love that you got to Sean Murphy. He's definitely one of my favorite. I first ran into his work on DeviantArt where he posts his Hellblazer (Constantine) work years ago.
Your Such A Good You-tuber Love This Series And Now There’s A Playlist I Can Watch It Alot Of Time’s Now YAH!
So happy to see Vagabond this episode.
The work with all the leaves makes me open-mouth stare everytime I see it.
As for suggestions for next, it's hard to find one specific page or panel to look at, but if you could find some way to talk about Eiichiro Oda's One Piece, that'd be amazing
(Also, I stop playing Hearthstone and reading WoW Chronicles to take a break from Warcraft, and it just follows me lol)
Stjepan is a genius. His art is always dynamic and painterly. Love every panel he does.
Would love to see you do a video looking at Kris Anka or Ryan Ottley.
And Fiona Staples! More Fiona Staples.
i’m about 70 chapters into vagabond and i have like 200 screenshots already, the art is just insane
