Not a short ben hatter but I just love ben lin more because he just like us most of the car enthusiast who wants to go fast and cool while still going light on the wallet. Plus, he show us that what you will experience in real life is not always what you see on the screen. Everything can go fast but it can also nuked itself few minutes later. I love them all but I love lin more.

To G&G team: thanks for making videos consistently released Saturday mornings. It's become part of my weekend routine and something I really look forward to. Thanks!
Yeah, but he's also been deep in that evo for years. First time I pulled the motor from my rx7 it took me ~12 hours. Second time took 3. The inevitable third time will probably be even faster. I can almost guarantee the second time you do that job you'll be much faster at it.
I had a similar problem, after hard shifting at redline I pulled into my garage with a knock. I opened the engine to find the same bearing situation you had. I rebuilt and while installing the clutch realized that the center section was more "floater" than I remembered. I installed it anyway and the "rod knock" got worse! New clutch set and no more knock. This was a very expensive lesson.
I feel like a "Custom" stub shaft tool is mandatory for long term EVO ownership. I made a long "L" shaped "tool" that sticks out past the fender a few feet so I can use a larger sledge to tap it out.
Hot damn that PWR radiator looks incredible. I am now extremely tempted to put one on my Evo, its biggest weakness on track is definitely heat management
This is the most Focused and absolutely locked in, i have ever seen this Ben on a video. You guys crushed taking the engine out. Cool to finally see Ben in the Zone.
Ben , I have to say I commend your constant positivity, you seem like such a genuinely nice guy , I hope all goes well with a new Turbo and can’t wait to see Lana screaming again ! :)
It absolutely gutted me when the cleaned engine was being put back together with the rust on the outside :( I know you were in a rush but its such an expensive and clean build I wanted to see the outside of the engine cleaned and painted. Love the build series and racing videos!
I've rebuilt a couple engines for folks who accidentally dropped a fastener. It's amazing what a washer can to do a rotary engine, and bolts/nuts can do some hefty damage to superchargers and turbochargers.
Holy f@&k dude... that's a bit sad. Bust your ass to meet the track time, and then she's down again due to an unfortunate oversight. We all make mistakes, hope to see a lot more soon. Love your content.
Just want to say that watching your videos on a Saturday morning has been my routine for some years now. I love the quality on the editing and filming in every video, and how real it is. Hope I can continue this routine for the years to come! Love you guys!
I honestly love this channel. I love the down to nature videos, showing everything good and bad that accompanies their builds and the experiences they have by just being car guys. Personally love these style of videos to where they're just building or more often then not, disassembling. Mark is a huge asset to this channel in my opinion. It's like were there with them, just goofing around and hanging out.
OMG, after all that work, I am shocked!! Silver lining, it is RUclips so more issues more content, more views (definetely I will continue to view). Good luck Bens, Mark keep it up!! Never surrender!
I was stoked to see the Evo running and I thought "the car will finally have a problem free life" As Ben leaves a nut in the turbo... LOL live and learn just double check next time Ben pls for the Evo's sake
@21:03 man I was waiting for it, I clapped when I heard it.... the "Austrialian Accent" LOL. When I didn't hear it the first time with the unopened boxes I was Shook 🤣😱😂 @22:47 man I've missed the Evo so much I had a sigh of relief and bliss all at once seeing it driving on track again.... honestly, thought the Talon was going to be your new track car be it "cheaper" lol. but I'm super happy to see the Evo back. The talon is also a good idea for track as its not only Cheaper but also has the same power plant. I'm looking forward to seeing both these vehicles doing some magic. Gosh I've missed the Evo. I think its time to Bless the Evo man no seriously make a skit or something blessing it or banishing bad juju lol lol. but On a real, I'm happy to see it back, it's sad for the turbo, and definitely good that you caught it before it went into the intake.. good to clean it out indeed and let's see her back on tack most definitely. PS. Highly recommend you put that larger Oil cooler. also a Nice custom shroud to ram air into it will actually do wonders. I have a 19 Row Mishimoto (12 row form factor so fins very dense) on my JZA80 and the shroud helped but ideally I need a larger or a Dual pass cooler. I currently added an electric fan to the back of it for aggressive driving and that also helped a great deal. Just dont block off the back as the passive cooling will take a hit, so if you ever run a fan on an oil cooler, an open fan design would be better to aid in cooling rather than a shrouded version that will restrict passive airflow. Ultimately, I'll go bigger with a dual pass cooler and put it up in front rather than by my signal duct...
Kudos to Ben for smiling thru all the Evo curveballs. It’s heartbreaking when your baby is laid up, especially under these circumstances. Major props for bringing out the Aussie accent! Always a fan favorite!
It was so nice to see Lana, getting some love! Truth be told iam a honda/acura guy but I have been absolutely enjoying all the dsm content! G&G always come through with epic content, thank you guys for the diligence. I can't wait to see some Gridlife videos!
I’ve been working on my b5s4 for 2 years. After another weekend of time wasted I’m left with two options. Admit defeat or keep trying. I keep asking myself if it’s worth my time and frustration but something in me won’t quit. Thanks for videos like this that couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been watching “cars won’t make you happy” daily for about 3 weeks now and I must say, although getting in an rs3 every day brings a smile to my face you’re 100% right. Then I think about giving it up.
Great to see that the EVO is back. As far as the loose nut in the turbo intake hey man I get it we all get it “LMR” last minute racing never enough time to wrench. Hope the damage is minimal and you’ll be back asap.
I love Ben's Evo since the very 1st video he posted 5 years ago, I enjoyed Ben's journey with his Evo rather than his other ridiculous cars..Good job Ben, u are true American JDM Sifu!!
I remember meeting the RS Motors guy at a go kart track in the Minneapolis area a bunch of years ago. He complemented my times as I was the quickest of our group by a lot, and was shocked I had never been to the track before and that we don't have karting up here lol. Really nice guy.
Had a 84 Silverado where the crank cracked at an angle. Sounded just like it threw a rod when idling, but cleared up when put under load. My father said he never seen it before, but probably similar to what happened to your crank.
Wow, amazing work. That nut in the turbo seems intentionally placed. You guys always do a great job. I wouldn't believe you guys accidentally dropping a nut in there.
I was in such a bad mood from dog pee on the floor. Then I started watching you guys tear into an Evo and ribbing each other, and now I'm smiling and more motivated to do alignment on my BRZ so I can hit the track.
I remember back in the day being on a live stream with a guy in Rhode island, me and 2 of my firends pulled a dsm motor in 45 minutes and that included getting it off the trailer into the shop. Christmas eve probably 2009-2010 era.
For a second i was worried we weren't gonna get any aussie accent this time

your attempt at an Australian accent is far better that the vast majority of Americans (still shit but aussie approved😂), you may continue! 👍🇦🇺
Lmfao I'm dead brotha 😅
