Though it sounds like a canon because it's so repetitive, it is not! This is a Chaconne also spelled Ciacona. You might like to know: "What is the difference between chaconne and Canon? Like canons, chaconnes also use ground bass. However, there's an added complexity: the music that's played over that bass-line resembles sets of musical variations, running musical ideas though a variety of moods, tempos and styles."
Je connais et joue l'original pour orgue de cette Chaconne en fa mineur. L'orgue permet nettement plus de variations de sonorités mais j'admire l'arrangement et l'exécution de cette version par le Trio Chimarae. La dynamique du groupe est fantastique. Bravo.
L'orgue est un bel instrument, mais ce trio apporte quelque chose d'unique. L'arrangement est à la hauteur de celui de Kurt Redel. Merci pour ce beau moment. Excellent
This Chaconne reminds of Buxtahude Chaconne the orchestral version. Pachelbel being 16 yrs. younger than Buxtahude, he might have studies Buxtahude Chaconne closely. Thank you for beautiful rendering and of Mahler's. (from south texas)
