    My favorite part was when Kasia Niewiadoma was almost caught by the group, and she looked over her shoulder, took a drink from her bottle, then put her head down and made everyone chase her to the top. Besides Demi Vollering's dominant ride, it was a gutsy performance. Sadly, she'll most likely get knocked off of the podium in tomorrow's TT.

    • @andrewclark8129
      @andrewclark8129 11 месяцев назад +14

      I'm really happy Niewiadoma is getting the QOM out this ride. So often she makes the gusty - bordering on foolhardy -attacks that never quite pan out for her. And yeah, she didn't get the stage. And yeah, Kopecky and AVV are almost certainly passing her in the TT. But even if not a win, this attack feels like a success.

    I was very confused and impressed. Confused that van Vleuten already went on the Aspin. That was way too early. And confused that van Vleuten and Vollering let Niewiadoma go. Impressed by the attack of Vollering and that Kopecky was able to stay competitive untill the end.

    • @mracer8
      @mracer8 11 месяцев назад +5

      Let me help you out! The plan was for MovieStar and Vleuten to attack early because that in theory the longer/harder style work for Vleuten more while Demi is stronger and have better kick!! but unfortunately she found out she don't quite have the leg today and Demi is simply too strong! As for the reason they let Niewiadoma go is because Vollering refuse to work with Vleuten to pull back Niewiadoma on the valley when she got a small gap, Vallering reason was she have 2 team mate in the chasing group and one of them is already in yellow jersey, so no reason for her to waste energy, if you want to close the gap, that's fine. The reason I think AVV want Vollering to help close the gap was yes, you have 2 team mate behind, but one of them is on yellow jersey, so unless you are good with 2nd or 3rd place at the end, that's ok with me since I already win the tours before! I think that's her thinking/saying!

    Well that was very smart from SD to save their entire team all week at cost of several stage wins, just to see most of them getting dropped in the first 3k of the first climb of the day. What an intelligent teamleader they must have when they are not nearly crashing into other cars while guiding their riders back to the front

    Devastating performance by Demi Vollering. The new and undisputed queen. What a year she has had. Dominant is an understatement. Destroying. Can she add world champion to her palmares ?
    What a way to put the DS drama to bed. Anna Van der breggen is all they need anyway. She is a master tactician. She knows what it takes to beat the goat.
    It seems a formality that Demi take this Tour de France. She's a great time trialist. But Annemiek is a two time world time trial champion and current olympic champion. Could she possibly pull that sizeable lead back ? History has shown. Never ever write Annemiek Van Vleuten off. She has the heart of a champion. And as she has done throughout her illustrious career. She will come out fighting.

    Fascinating to see the top ten. This is like a world championships for climbers. When it was all on the line, it came down to this.
    Devastating performance by Demi. The new and undisputed queen. Amazing and brave ride by the legend Kasia. Hearty efforts as per usual by the GOAT Annemiek and Ashley Moolman, and the consistency of Labous is impressive. She is elite. And Kopecky's outstanding climb signals to me that she will switch teams in the near future. She has proven she is a GC contender in her own right.
    Santesteban will be over the moon and FDJ pair Uttrup Ludwig and Cavalli should be happy with their climb. And Ricarda Bauernfeind is the young star of the tour. She will be a contender in the future.
    Interesting to note who wasn't there. Where were the Lidl Trek girls ? I thought Lizzie Deignan would lead out followed by Gaia Realini to launch Elisa Longo Borghini. I expected Lianne Lippert, Mavi Garcia, and Sylvia Persico to be there too.

    Very striking that the only big climbing stage just has 90km and 2 climbs. This stage profile looks like something that even I could ride in a day, and I'm not that fit. I wonder, why don't they give the women's race harder stages? Is it because they feel a stage like this is already differentiating enough in the women's race and they don't want to lose all the sprinters to time limit? Or is it just a traditional thing to make the women's races a bit less harsh than the men's races?

    Think Annemiek made a strategic error. Shouldn't have attacked on Col d'Aspin. All what Annemiek needed to do was follow Demi as long as possible. Just sit in her wheel. Annemiek should have known that Demi would recover faster from the efforts in the days before, because of her age. She still would have lost, but the damage would have been much less. Maybe 30 seconds.

Movie star used up all they climbers on the first climb instead of dropping other in the GC when they were doing all this hard pull they ended up dropping they own which left they leader without any help even before they started the dreaded Tourmalet climb. What an appalling title, what about Vollering & SDworx dominate on Tourmalet
    Of course vollering was in very good form, and congratulations to her.
    However, it is not a case of HER destroying (an offensive and superfluous word when commentating on sport) AvV.
    AvV was definitely not at her best, and was also riding against SDworx as a whole, you say it yourself Vollering refused to ride and asked her team to help her, it took a team effort to beat AvV (and confuse everyone else), and that was probably their plan, AvV was seen to be the only person who could beat Vollering.
    I don’t where you get that, “Vollering gave her the look”, what a absurd statement? How do you know?
    But still, congratulations to Vollering!
    A changing of the guard so to speak!
    And AvV, 40 years old, cycling among women nearly young enough to be her own kids (and beating them), coming home in fourth place, still promoting women’s cycling (who’s going to replace her) and still doing so well, congratulations to AvV, just thought I’d mention that for you!
