    I'd love to hear a little more about exact hand positioning and do you pull up from the bottom of the drop, or back from the front of the drop, talk more about angle of pressure on the bars, how much side to side body sway is ok vs too much, etc

      There's a reason why top track sprinters don't sway their bike everywhere... keep your core tight and don't move around too much, treat it like a deadlift with fast legs - your power numbers will be much better. I grab the front of the drop as it forces you to drop your elbows a bit more (aero).

      Pretty sure NorCal cycling covered this years ago - worth looking up. Don't waste energy by throwing your bike around, particularly when initiating the sprint.

    I think sprinting is a vital skill for everyone not just racers ... teaches you how to make jumps onto the group bike handling plus gives you a skill in case you need to outrun a stray dog etc .

    I would love to know how to train workouts. I love sprinting and it’s my favorite currently I do
    20sec max sprint
    40sec recovery
    4straight minutes
    10min rest then repeat a total of 3 times

    I don’t recall if you’re North of the Bay Area or closer to LA. If LA isn’t to distant you may want to consider trying out training at the Carson indoor velodrome, Roger Young has a heck of a good program there.

      Sprint 15-60 seconds, several minutes easy, go again, basically. Play with gears and starting speeds.

  • @morgano9832
    @morgano9832 4 месяца назад

    Hey not sure if you'll see this but, what gear are you shifting to for these? For example on a flat finish with 11x or 12x on the rear wheel

    • @Ejstrainingcamp
      @Ejstrainingcamp  4 месяца назад +1

      For me it's all about feel. I usually will spin up in a lower gear then sit down for a split second to shift to a harder gear than go again!

    What kind of sprint numbers can someone who is 4'11 achieve? I don't practice my sprint, its 700 watts right now. I want to be able to 1000. I've started practicing my form at really low resistance to try to activate my ! muscles

    • @pierrex3226
      @pierrex3226 4 месяца назад

      i would look at watt/kg of average & good sprinters and do the math to apply it to your own weight.

    • @Tibovl
      @Tibovl 4 месяца назад

      Know that going from 700 to 1000 is nearly a 50% increase. That amount of improvement can take well over a year depending on your physique and training.

    • @Tibovl
      @Tibovl 4 месяца назад

      @@pierrex3226If you are smaller it is easier to achieve higher watts/kg. But you'll still be beaten by bigger guys who simply outpower you.

  • @niklasbirksted8175

    Any sources for the claim on one inch equaling savings over 200 watts?

    • @Ejstrainingcamp
      @Ejstrainingcamp  4 месяца назад

      Yeah! I went to the specialized wind tunnel last year and we tested the difference in head position in a sprint. Dylan Johnson also has similar videos on this concept.

    • @niklasbirksted8175
      @niklasbirksted8175 3 месяца назад

      But the vid you did with Jeff comes nowhere near that claim, neither does Dylan's. You would have to be riding way faster than what is possible for even top tier pro athletes@@Ejstrainingcamp

    Super noob sprint question: are you shifting mid sprint or do you just pick a big gear and wind it out?

    • @Ejstrainingcamp
      @Ejstrainingcamp  4 месяца назад +1

      It depends. On a longer sprint I may shift mid gear and then hit again. For a shorter sprint you usually want to find the right gear.

    • @rab0309

    • @rab0309
      @rab0309 4 месяца назад

      @@Ejstrainingcamp let's say it's completely flat what would you say your typical / goto gear or gears would be? i get this question is specific to just you; also assuming if you stay in that same gear for the full sprint duration maybe your RPMs at the start of the sprint are "lower" at the start of it when winding up
