I'd love to hear a little more about exact hand positioning and do you pull up from the bottom of the drop, or back from the front of the drop, talk more about angle of pressure on the bars, how much side to side body sway is ok vs too much, etc
There's a reason why top track sprinters don't sway their bike everywhere... keep your core tight and don't move around too much, treat it like a deadlift with fast legs - your power numbers will be much better. I grab the front of the drop as it forces you to drop your elbows a bit more (aero).
Pretty sure NorCal cycling covered this years ago - worth looking up. Don't waste energy by throwing your bike around, particularly when initiating the sprint.
I see you mentioned you would do a video on the workouts for long and short distances sprints. I would definitely appreciate you making that video. And thanks for the content it’s amazingly helpful.
I think sprinting is a vital skill for everyone not just racers ... teaches you how to make jumps onto the group bike handling plus gives you a skill in case you need to outrun a stray dog etc .
If I have a "strength" it is my short power. But being an endurance enthusiast it hasn't really been so helpful in most of my races - which I'm happy to just complete! That said I can use all the help I can get. Please do the workshop!
Great technique info 👍 I'd be interested if Tyler has tips on producing more power through training and/or reading a power curve to understand someone's potential room for growth... How to adjust workouts to create desired adaptations... How this all changes with age ✌️
I don’t recall if you’re North of the Bay Area or closer to LA. If LA isn’t to distant you may want to consider trying out training at the Carson indoor velodrome, Roger Young has a heck of a good program there.
Yeah! I went to the specialized wind tunnel last year and we tested the difference in head position in a sprint. Dylan Johnson also has similar videos on this concept.
But the vid you did with Jeff comes nowhere near that claim, neither does Dylan's. You would have to be riding way faster than what is possible for even top tier pro athletes@@Ejstrainingcamp
What kind of sprint numbers can someone who is 4'11 achieve? I don't practice my sprint, its 700 watts right now. I want to be able to 1000. I've started practicing my form at really low resistance to try to activate my ! muscles
Know that going from 700 to 1000 is nearly a 50% increase. That amount of improvement can take well over a year depending on your physique and training.
I can copy mark cavendish sprint but my twitch muscle was too weak and also i was having a hard time eith my stamina can someone pls reccomend me any workouts?😅
I would love to know how to train workouts. I love sprinting and it’s my favorite currently I do 20sec max sprint 40sec recovery 4straight minutes 10min rest then repeat a total of 3 times
@@Ejstrainingcamp let's say it's completely flat what would you say your typical / goto gear or gears would be? i get this question is specific to just you; also assuming if you stay in that same gear for the full sprint duration maybe your RPMs at the start of the sprint are "lower" at the start of it when winding up
i havent seen legion in the WT PRO scene - and a lot of US races, you so cant be too worried about aero with everyone with camera ontop of their helmets!!! // ...spends 15K on aero to undo it all with a go pro
So many good tips I’m running out of space in my notebook

One of the last comments nailed it spot on.
" It's not always the fastest, but the most skilled rider that wins."
great video and shout to coach tyler! 100% interested in that workout video! thanks ej and keep up the great work!
Love the direction this channel is going in!
Thank you so much!

For sure! Check out the new video I just put out. One of my favorite sprint workouts is in there!
Definitely would like that follow up vid on specific workouts
Definitely would be interested in the workout video!
Yes please do a video on specific sprint workouts for both sustained and punchy quick sprints.
Working on it as we speak!
Nice. As a track sprinter I knew bits but hadn't considered wind direction when coming out of the wheel.

The increase in wattage for 1 to 2 inchs is quite suprising. Something to think about for sure.
It would be great to have a segment in the next video about sprinting on the training ie. effort duration, intervals etc. Cheers

Great tips! I’ll take any additional sprinting tips you can offer!
Perfect thanks for the info. Keep up the good work

Thank you!! Workout videos would be nice!!
as always. great content EJ. would love a training video!
Hell ya get those sprint workouts up. 🔥🔥🎆
I think we could make that happen!

Will do! I’m in NorCal but could make the drive!
I appreciate the video. I am a sprinter myself so if you could put together a video of a workout I would greatly appreciate it..
A good watch, thank you 😊
Would love to watch a full sprint workout. What do the pros do? Thanks!
Sprint 15-60 seconds, several minutes easy, go again, basically. Play with gears and starting speeds.
That's a great jersey.
Any sources for the claim on one inch equaling savings over 200 watts?

Great information!! Thanks for sharing.
Glad I could share! Thanks for the support!
Would love to see a training breakdown of a week
Deal!
Congrats on 10K subscribers!
Thank you!!
Right on!
Great video my guy.
Get on the track and do the endurance races you'll see so many gains
Workout video....yes please!!!!

i would look at watt/kg of average & good sprinters and do the math to apply it to your own weight.
Know that going from 700 to 1000 is nearly a 50% increase. That amount of improvement can take well over a year depending on your physique and training.
@@pierrex3226If you are smaller it is easier to achieve higher watts/kg. But you'll still be beaten by bigger guys who simply outpower you.
Dozens of video''s on sprints and I still cant reach 1000 watts, hehe
That's my goal this year
well, mate, the toilet in the background makes it look really pro... 😂
Everyone poops 😂
Hey not sure if you'll see this but, what gear are you shifting to for these? For example on a flat finish with 11x or 12x on the rear wheel
For me it's all about feel. I usually will spin up in a lower gear then sit down for a split second to shift to a harder gear than go again!
Love this content!!!!
Thank you for the support!

America's best pro cyclists ain't in America right now
great video ej
Thank you!
Your boys technique very similar to Cavendish.
*Cavendish
Super noob sprint question: are you shifting mid sprint or do you just pick a big gear and wind it out?
It depends. On a longer sprint I may shift mid gear and then hit again. For a shorter sprint you usually want to find the right gear.
had the same question

Looks like you're at 10K
I know! It’s unreal! 🫶
What size r ur tires?
32s 🤙
Let’s gooooo
Also Mads Pedersen
I'm sure Tyler will point you to the new Kask helmet worn by Filippo Ganna. Marginal gains and all that 😉
Just wait until you see the new Kav helmet coming out 🤫

Tyler isn’t on legion anymore haha and he’s never once worn a GoPro on his head.
great video. but I can see your toilet bro
... for those who don't know what sprinting is ... ? Seriously ? 🤦♂️
I know it may sound dumb but I make these videos with the mindset of adding something for everyone. Even if you know literally nothing.
Definitely would be interested in the workout video!
We can make that happen!
