  • The final ardennes showdown and perhaps the biggest race of the women's calendar so far, Liege-Bastogne-Liege although the women's just goes from Bastogne to Liege. Big contenders were SD Worx with Vollering and Anna van der Breggen as well as of course Annemiek van Vleuten, Elisa Longo-Borghini and Kasia Niewiadoma. What would SD Worx' strategy be with rivals Elisa Longo Borghini and Annemiek van Vleuten also in strong form with deep teams?

Why did Marcel Kittel stop, and did Tom Dumoulin put in a break? Been there, done that. Top sport is not a walk in the park. It takes a lot of effort to stay at the top. In 2018 Anna posted a blog about "the rain behind the rainbow jersey". Winning is great, but the way leading up to that win, particularly in 2018, can be an experience you don't want to go through again. She does not have it in her to eagerly go for the win in every race. Other things are more important to her and bring more joy. That's why she rode the Cape Epic in 2019, and why she'll switch to coaching her team. ruclips.net/video/nS4LW_KNUG0/видео.html (you can auto-translate the captions, or translate the transcript)

the last 10km were sooo exciting. i’m sooo glad i watched the rerun of this race without looking at the result. at 10km i didn’t realize the world champ was an SdWorx rider and i was flabbergasted but and at 6km when i understood what was going on my jaw dropped and started cheering for Vollering. the crazy thing watching live is that even in the last 1km there are 3 scenarios that woulda been crazy good. A Borghini win woulda showed how smart she is, but alas it was a long shot. Anemik winning woulda cemented her reputation as an absolute powerhouse. But ultimately the actual finish was the best narrative. Great great team tactic. Would be great if there’s footage from the team car. Oh and AVDB swerving to the right when Anemik was in the lead the last second to give Vollering that last bit of slipstream. like...

Hi I noticed some of the riders were using bars that flair out on the drops. These were popular back in the 1980`s on touring road bikes. What is the advantage of these bars ? I would think the UCI would ban them soon as they seem to stick out a bit far.
