    My fuel and temp gauge gives wrong readings. And I've been trying to find ways to contact you for help. Its like you knew, this video is my answer. Thanks!!

    Awesome explanation as usual! I did find an OBD gauge that has an auto reset function on the pesky codes. You can pick and choose which ones to auto reset. The TPMS bulb is a good one to get rid off if you have after market wheels and tires.

    Awesome job and very detailed for those Montero owners that have not done this yet.

      I have a Gen 2.5 and not a Gen 3, but yes, seeing how SIMPLE this is on video rather than pictures just removed any apprehensions I had about doing dashboard work on my truck.

      @DocGTO 10 месяцев назад +1

      The gauges on the gen 2/2.5 is a little more labor intensive to get this done but still doable. There are no captured plugs like the gen 3. @@BattleshipSailorBB63

    At 3:25 you mentioned light bulbs. please tell me which bulbs it is because I would like to replace the defective ones and maybe put an LED for better lighting. Thank you!

    Brian, it kind of hurts my heart to see you use Phillips bits on those screws; they're JIS and the right ones fit those screws and don't slip. Tell yourself you deserve a set. Also, you can buy a simple magentizer/demagnetizer tool to make any small metal object into a weak magnet temporarily. Removing the check engine light/service engine soon light would result in an automatic emissions failure in the metro Phoenix area where I live, so I can't do that. Really like how the Gen 3 dash just unplugs like that. The Gen 2 is a pain, so's the Gen 1, kinda. Great video!

    I have an 06 now, had it for 2 weeks. The only Code I get is for Small Evap Leak, but after clearing it twice I think my truck is solid! One of the ONLY issues with it is the spedo needle intermittently sticks on 0. It may stick for 1/2 second, or for 5 minutes, and then suddenly jumps to the correct position. I can still use Cruise, so the truck is SEEING my speed correctly, only the needle itself seems to be the issue. I think I'll try fiddling with seating that module as you illustrate, but my lizard brain also wants to REALLY give 'er a shot of WD-40! Think I would hurt anything in there giving it a quick squirt? I have DeoxIT on hand, that stuff is great for vintage audio amps and such, giving all those electrical connectors a small dab can't hurt while I'm in there too. Anything electrical that I mess with will probably get the DeoxIT treatment..switches, Rheostat knobs, anything. I want to give the whole fuse box the treatment too.

    • @montanamontero
      @montanamontero  5 месяцев назад +1

      hmmm idk about that. if it's just a mechanical stick some lube would help, but if it's electrical obviously it wouldn't.. and it sounds to me like it could be a loose connection

    • @BattleshipSailorBB63
      @BattleshipSailorBB63 5 месяцев назад

      @@montanamontero Appreciate the input. I'll probably just try everything at once! Remove and reinstall the module, DeoxIT all the ribbon connectors, WD on the speedo needle. I won't know WHAT fixes it if it works, but just after the result heh. Your videos are great, thanks for doing them.

    • @BattleshipSailorBB63
      @BattleshipSailorBB63 5 месяцев назад

      Oh I forgot, instead of a soldering iron to re-flow the connections, there's a nifty trick people use with old GPUs...believe it or not, stick it in an oven! I'd be leery of trying with the white plastic of the module still attached, but if you can separate JUST the board out it could work. You can find several videos of how they sometimes breathe new life into GPUs. Not 100% effective, but works enough times to be worth a shot. Would NOT attempt with the membrane circuits obviously, just with the more traditional circuit boards.

    Hey umm could you make a video explaining how to fix my four wheel drive light. It’s currently in the middle blinking yellowish orange. I have tried putting it in four wheel drive and taking it out of four wheel drive and it doesn’t change it. I have recently changed the thermostat and radiator but nothing else. I have a 2004 Mitsubishi montero limited. Any advice?

    I have issues with the fuel gauge not reading soldered the resistor it works kind off sometimes it reads full some times it reads half tank... ive got a feeling that the sending unit also needs to be fixed. What would you think also I tested the two resistors the fuel gauge one reads 9.7kΩ and the temp gauge reads 10kΩ could that be a factor?

    I tried soldering the r10 for the fuel gauge, yet the fuel level is still not accurate. The reading is way off, when iturn the ignition the fuel gauge was in a different position. And when the engine starts the fuel gauge change higher.
    What advice can you give after this? Maybe fuel pump needs changing? Any suggestions?

      You most probably also have what's referred to as a "dry" solder joint. To fix a dry joint you have to melt the solder again and let it set, just like it's shown in this video for the resistors. If you don't know which joint is dry, just do them all, working your way around the circuit (it's almost impossible to see a dry joint on the surface mounted components) Work carefully, good luck
