So, I was not familiar with the 4x4 system on this one, and toke me a bit to figure out how everything works... got there in the end, but was a few surprises awaiting!...
Yes, some idiots have been working on it before me... and some interesting things found bodged and messed up...

I hope your customer appreciated just how much work went into this. I've said this before, I think your diagnostic skills are at a very high level. Love the way in which you look at absolutely everything. Personally for me I would have charged around £350 and that's just for the labour. When people mess around by disconnecting sensors and using silicon to cover up dash lights I have no problem charging them for my time. If the current owner did this, he/she should have warned you before hand, which may have saved you hours and hours of carrying out diagnostic tests and made the job a lot cheaper and certainly a lot quicker. If the current owner had no prior knowledge then there's very little you can do apart from either deciding to do the work or simply politely declining the work. As always sir, it's been a real pleasure seeing you do your thing...👍👍

Yah get what you pay for
Had these vehicles in weekly, I usally pull the switches off first and give them the bench test (hammer the plungers against the bench 50 times, either fixed or bin them after that). Aftermarket switches are garbage and cause more trouble then their worth. Switches neary always the problem. Good tip for access is slip a jack under tho box, spin off the 4 bolts on the crossmember by the chassis rails and the whole box drops down plenty to ease access.
That's exactly what I have done to access them... but laying with your back on the floor, still not a very easy job...😋

Hi,i had this exact problem on a customers car a few months ago,bought the sensors from Ebay (fakes) then ended up buying originals from the dealer as 3 out of the 5 Ebay ones were dead out of the box.
Buy cheap, buy twice...

And this boys and girls is why I'm soooooo glad my Gen 2 Paj has a manual transfer case. If the lights aren't in sync with the gear lever position I know the sensor is at fault.
You are lucky that it's a Toyota transmission system, parts are readily available and affordable. You can buy them from Toyota, Jeep, Isuzu or Mitsubishi. Basically any dealership that has vehicles that use Aisin-Warner transfer cases.
If I were you I'd check the transfer and gearbox oil to see if there's moisture in the oils, that could be the reason why the sensors failed.

Hey your video was great 😁 I have a shogun owned it since brand new. Mine has a similar problem and also the abs is kicking in at really slow speed when coming to a stop. Where about are you based and would you be interested in taking a look 😁🙏🙏🙏
You did a great job again . Measuring the switches was the right thing to do but lately , if I use the needle or backprobe to measure , I noticed that I get different readings depending on the position I keep them .Luckily you had an understanding customer . Also , one of these days you will get so sick and tired of crawling underneath cars or sitting on your knees that no amount of money keeps you motivated . I really wish you had the ability to build a little garage on your property and maybe a low lift . But who knows , maybe you did this already . LOL . We are only a Year behind .

In lithuania to pass the car inspection abs and airbag lights must turn on and then turn off so bodging isnstrument panel is harder than just covering up the lights and if inspection procedure would include diagnostic scan such bodges would get obsolete very fast

Lights need to light up, and then off...
But not everyone checks that...

Any idea why they recommend exercising the switches? Had a few guys tell me if you don't exercise them at least once a month that they will eventually fail.
Possibly...
If the contacts start to get dirt then when you activate them they don't connect properly...
It is probably a good idea to switch between the modes to activate the switches and keep them working...

it's weird that you don't have the button to activate the rear differential lock🤷🏻♂️, all the monteros have it. effectively that light should turn on when you put on 4hlc onwards but you are missing the button, what it does is that the back part sounds, the light blinks until it is fixed and that's it. central and rear lock activated and all the lights stay on, when activating the rear lock the car becomes a tractor, you cannot turn the steering wheel because it stays straight since all four wheels turn at the same time, it is dangerous but in the meantime it works at perfection and more if you have a lot of cargo, it only serves to get out of trouble in swamps and then remove it. greetings good video

can anyone tell me which is the switch to get it in to the 4wd low please i have checked the best i can from the roadside all look mint everything works all but the 4wd low so hoping to get on a mates ramp and change the low switch for a start thanks for the vid it helped me loads
I can't remember know... but the diagrams I was using in this video, shows the assignment of all the sensors... you can just google them...

I have had similar problems with my 2013 shogun 3.2. Mitsubishi dealer diagnosed faulty transfer ECU and fitted a new one. Still problems so they decided a new transfer actuator was needed. They couldn't get the old actuator off and said the transfer box needed to be removed. Meanwhile the faults /flashing lights on dash suddenly disappeared! I have the car back and am looking for a workshop nanual to try and solve the problem myself, if it happens again. I see you have pages from a good manual. Any idea where I can get a manual from for my vehicle?

If you just want to attempt the replacement of the switches, the tool is unnecessary...
But, if you want to diagnose it properly first, the the tool might help.. not necessarily the same as the one I used, but something capable of reading some live data etc...
My one is the MS908P.

Again, I don't remember everything from the top of my head... but was a straight forward system, and the switches are the main things telling the system what is going on...
You might need to test the outputs of the other switchs...

Those Pack's don't look like Mitsubishi OEM surely it would say Mitsubishi on the package most Japanese car companies use denso or AC Delco never buy cheap part's especially on hard to work on area's

Hello louis nice job, i want to ask you about a problem in peugeot 207 1.4 vti 95 ch engine code 8FS, engine cold start fine but when it warm 92 degrees he start misfiring and we have two codes P1336 misfiring many cylindres and P1339 CYLINDRE 3 MISFIRING we tested everything compression....we changed many things like spark plugs injectors ignition coils ecu and BSI, one last information when i disconnect the exahust camshaft sensor problem goes, i want to help me thank you very much

Check the VVT solenoids as well...
See what the engine is doing with the VVT when that happens...
