  • In this video we diagnose the problem of the flashing center diff-light, a common occurrence in the Pajeros. The centre diff-light started flashing whilst driving on the highway and would remain flashing untill the car was switched off. It would then resume flashing after about 20-30 kms on the Hwy again. After extensive research, I decided to check out of the accuator at the fore of the vehicle was working and it was not. After calling in the professionals, my brother and good friend, we located the problem; a broken vacuum hose which took us minutes to repair.

Excellent diagnosis and problem solution. I don't have a scanner that checks transmission codes but on Gen 3 Montero the ODB2 connector on the car can be jumped between pins 8 and 1 (may be different for other than 2002 to 2006) and that should give you transfer case codes at least. All you do is turn the key to the on position (engine off) and the center diff light will start flashing in two separate sequences separated by a longer time lapse, the first is for the first digit the second for the second digit. Thank you for showing one of the possible reasons and solutions to this problem.

that was an easy fix. I have the same problem with my 2008. Pipelines and solenoids as OK. everything's mechanical works. I need a diag in order to troubleshoot it.

I have a fully working system, BUT... I want to engauge 4llc without locking the centre diff, so that I can reverse a trailer uphill with a few twists on a concrete surface. I'm wondering if I disconnect that vac hose, will that mean i can do this?

    Hi there.
    Nice video, thanks!
    Just wondering.
Was that pipe seating below the car? Or in the "motor" area?!
    Thanks

@@melbournemassageandtreatme6672 Sure. Work through the steps cause it could be anything between the actuator and the solenoids including the solenoids and actuator.

Good video! What kind of diagnostic did you use? Here in italy they ask me 500 euro for appropriate one for pajero IV. Thank you

Have you tried pin 1 and 4 with a wire?
