While other Assassins (excluding Altair) just "go kill this Templar and go kill that Templar," Ezio was the only one wise enough to find meaning in all that.
@Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad They did fratello mio, and everyone is forgot that you saved the creed, and i couldn't be so badass without your codex pages, Grazie brother.
@Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad I respected you all along in my life, and i still respect you, and that Armor that you made for me, it protected me from my enemies, and that library... No books, No wisdom. we seen enough for one life!
No, it`s not depressing. We accompanied this man through his life, and a hell of a good life it was. Quite an exciting journey for me, without any sign of depression :)
you know the saddest part in all this? remember the moment in end of Revelations, where he talks to Desmond? Ezio never fully understood WHY he was doing whatever he was doing. its US the gamers that know the extent of story. imagine whole lore and plot from his perspective... he sacrificed whole life and never uncovered even half of secrets he was so desperately trying to find all these years and decades... that's sad honestly
Ezio died coming to terms with his part to play in all of this. Nothing sad about that, he is a man who found his purpose. Lived a full life and he did with the people he loves.
I think it's remarkable that he walked away when he did and still had a life to live outside of the Assassins. I think Ezio realized that he would never fully understand his role in the First Civilization's grand scheme and that if he kept searching for answers he'd die most likely not knowing much more than when he started. So instead he walked away, he felt content that he contributed enough for both his present and the future and decided to live his remaining years living happily with the people who loved him.
I love the fact that ezio's fighting skills still the same as it was in the three games, the odd weapon pick up, the counter attack, the hook and run, the weapon throw, the weapon disarm, the tackle. Ezio smiles after the fight because he know he still got it.
Even at old age a man of considerable skill is still able to show that he can hold his own against ones much younger than them, that is what they underestimate a master assassin is still an assassin even in his late year even if it for a single battle. He doesn’t have to run and fight like he once was but to smart enough and strong enough to take a hit and keep fighting. That’s what counts, it’s not how hard you hit, it’s being able to take a hit and keep going.
I just restarted playing Assassins Creed 2 yesterday (the nostalgia was crazy yoooo) and after hearing those lines in the introduction I was just covered in chills 💀💀 what a great franchise of games man, but Ezio is just something else
The final scene with Ezio I feel should be explained. The man who sat and spoke to Ezio, was a Templar, sent to assassinate Ezio. However, seeing the condition Ezio was in, he chose to start a conversation rather than kill him. When he grabs Ezio’s wrist, it’s to prevent him from using the hidden blade. He did not poison or attack him, he simply held back the hidden blade. He knows Ezio will likely die soon, which is why he says, “get some rest,” and then leaving Ezio, allowing him to die in peace.
@@fasty7878 facial scars, placement of hand on ezio’s, the subtle nod to basically confirm his suspicions but show respect. I wondered myself but just watched a bit closer and I’m pretty confident saying that our boy nailed the analysis.
I think that really shows just how respected Ezio was. He tore through so much of the Templar's, and yet the one they sent to kill him had the courtesy to let him die in peace.
I still can't believe they did this to me. They made me watch him take the first breath he wasn't supposed to have and then they made me watch him take his last.
I think one big reason why so many AC fans are connected to Ezio is because they experience up to 3 games, watch Ezio growing from a vengeful young assassin to a wise Grand Master, and we too feel we are growing along. I don't know why Ubisoft won't make another triology and instead introduces new main every single game. None of us understand them enough, and we all look back to whom we know best, Ezio and Desmond.
You literally play Ezio right out of the womb, lol. I think there's a QTE for you to cry/breathe after being born. Playing him from birth to almost death helps create a strong connection.
quang anh nguyen tien I still think they should reopen the series with Desmond. I mean, they have a god damn opening to continue it! His data was saved. Meaning he could still be alive, in the system, just as Juno was. Why can't they just use it? That would be bomb as shit. Seeing Desmond command a new assassin, talk to them, just as Juno did. But to save humanity. And to stop her evil deeds. He'll, we haven't even really seen the bitch since.
I think it's because Ezio was just an amazing character. I felt a connection to him the first time I played AC2 and he still would've been my favorite even if he didn't get a trilogy. Him and Edward are my favorite (I cared nothing for the others really) but it seems like Origins protag may end up being up there too
I think it's time Desmond rest. I don't hate it that Ubisoft ended his life. Rather that, than having him live for too long and watch his story being milked the crap out of. I think we deserve another main from his bloodline, or others', and get more than 2 games to connect
Regarding Edward I have mixed feeling. I thought it's a great gaming character with well-developed personality, but I don't think he's a good AC main. AC has always been about stealth, patience and subtlety, and Edward is just too flamboyant. Then again, I'm a conservative when it comes to gaming plot, and those who love changing a game's nature will probably love Kenway and Jacob Frye.
I couldn't let him die. I first watched this video. Then, 1) I played AC revelations and completed it. 2) I completed AC Brotherhood. 3) Lastly, I completed AC 2. See, he got younger with every game I played.
The Social Trends good, but I'd think things where spoiled a lot. This video made me cry from how I've known him all these years and played the games and slowly you see him disappear. It's hurtful.
Epi Stafford embers takes place after revelation so he was correct ylu dont have to be a jerk about especially if your not even checking to see if your correct
I can't believe that 12 years have passed since the first game with Ezio Auditore. Now in 2021 I still think about him and I still have him in my heart and soul. Vai, amico, libero da fardelli e paure (Go forward, friend, unburdened and unafraid). Requiescat in pace !!!
@@hazzabrooksy4089 50's - 60's is still not that old because Altair in his 50's still strong enough. Ezio is weaker because he's suffering from a lung disease as a result of tending his vineyard all by himself.

I know Ezio from his birth to his death. My Lord! He may be a fictional character but for me he is a true friend, an ally and an inspiration. "There are some bondings that don't need the presence of reality."
I 'm happy that Ezio got such a peaceful end to his life. He didn't die at the hands of his enemies, but in the company of his loving family. Sofia gave him something he had longed for for so many years. A family and a happy home where they could raise their children and grow old together. When my time comes, that's how I would like to go as well.
Eizo is one of my favorite characters within Assassin’s creed but yet he’s still human and we as people can’t live forever so if he was real I would want to go to Italy and see his grave but I can’t cuz I’m broke..
Ezio was not only the greatest assassin and most skilled swordsman under the sun, he was significantly more, a representation of hope that was long lost in a world full of corruption. With his blade, one by one, he cut from the source of this corruption until it was all gone. He made Italy a better country and proceeded to do that with Constantinople as well. He mentored countless men and women who fought for what was right and sacrificed themselves for the greater good. After that man died the assassin order was not the same. He is the only one who caught a true glimpse of why the assassin order exists and what it means to be a member of the brotherhood. He died as a legendary assassin even to the very end and his last lesson mentored another instrument of justice and righteousness! His story was the best thing in the assassin's creed series and the only reason we continue playing it, hoping that one day they will create another good story like this of an even greater assassin. Skill and virtue can create legends, yet we mourn this parting with our beloved mentor and brother and hope that he will receive the glory he deserves in the heavens! Rest in peace, Ezio!

When other men blindly follow the truth, remember, nothing is true, when other men are limited by morality, or law, remember, everything is permitted, we work in the dark, to serve the light, we are assassin's. Requiescat In Pace Ezio Auditore, you'll be a legacy to future generations of The Assassin Order.
Benjamin Scott “To say that nothing is true, is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say that everything is permitted, is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.“ -Ezio Auditore
18:35-19:00 and 19:24-19:28, I'm no doctor, but here is my diagnosis of Ezio's death. Ezio suddenly began to cough and wince in pain which indicates he has suffered Myocardial Infarction, he later was clearly was clutching his chest, which is a clear indicator of Angina; which is pain in the chest caused by increasing strain on the heart due to hypertension to deal with the increased blockage of his blood vessels. He was also breathing heavily which would also indicate he was struggling to get air into his lungs due to shortness of breath. I also noticed that his face was contorted into a shape of pain which clearly shows another sign of angina a bit also with his demeanor altered now shows he was likely confused or dazed. This could point to his failing heart. When he finally died it was sudden and without warning. From all this evidence I say Ezio Auditore suffered from myocardial Infarction which was due to a blockage in his Coronary Artery. The shock from the sudden loss of blood flow and nutrients to his heart caused it to lose it's rhythm, and ultimately caused Ezio to fall unconcious as he went into Cardiac arrest. With the lack of medical knowledge to help save his life, all the bystanders could do was watch as Ezio died. So in conclusion Ezio died at the age of 65 from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) due to myocardial infarction. *The common name for Myocardial Infarction is a Heart Attack.*
years of climbing, jumping, running and fighting has taken its toll but Ezio still manages to pull all that off, his body may be old but his mind still sharp, he was a beast to the end
I'm 33...I played AC2 in my early 20s...loved all of Ezio adventures. ..I quit playing bc I'm getting older and kids getting older, I stumbled onto this and am truly sad. ..wow I truly had a connection to this character. ..goodbye friend, had years of very memorable late nights and adventures with you. RIP, I gotta go cook these chopped onions now.
"When I was a young man, I had liberty, but I did not see it. I had time, but I did not know it. And I had love, but I did not feel it. Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three. And now, the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment. Love, liberty, and time: once so disposable, are the fuels that drive me forward. And love, most especially, mio caro. For you, our children, our brothers and sisters. And for the vast and wonderful world that gave us life, and keeps us guessing. Endless affection, mia Sofia. Forever yours, Ezio Auditore." Now living in a cozy Tuscan Villa with his wife and their two children, Ezio spends his time enjoying the company of family, old friends, and cultivating his vineyards. The life of this former Assassin Mentor will not stay quiet for long. One day, a mysterious Assassin shows up at Ezio's door quite unexpectedly, begging for Ezio's aid. Will this old Assassin's fire die out before he can save the ones he loves, or will it burn brightly one last time? In the year 1524, the former Assassin Ezio Auditore had retired to a villa in the countryside of Tuscany, with his wife Sofia and children Marcello and Flavia. While Ezio wrote in his study, Sofia asked him to watch Flavia while she and Marcello visited his sister Claudia. Shortly after, he left his study to tend their vineyards while Flavia played nearby the villa. In the midst of his harvest, he saw a stranger cloaked in black talking to Flavia. Fearing the worst, Ezio hurriedly intercepted the stranger, though Flavia told him that she was no danger, as Ezio saw her necklace with the Assassin insignia. Ezio Auditore passed away where he sat at the age of 65. Left behind by him in his study was a letter addressed to Sofia. Assassin's Creed Embers. AC Embers. Recorded from iPad AC Recollection game. Hate to say this now, but... with "And love, most especially, mio caro," it should be "mia cara" because he's speaking to a woman. He says the masculine form and now that I've noticed... Damn he has a sexy voice.
It's quite sad that Ezio could not live a entire life of peace and love. However, he had a true time of peace, could see his kids play and have a good wife by his side on his last days. Great character, great story. Really meaningful. Requiescat in pace, mentor.

I'm crying because this is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. After that, I cried for days on end. I couldn't touch any of the other games for years because for me, Ezio was my first assassin experience and I grew to love assassins creed through him. Can we have 100 subscribers without any video? I haven't gotten too far into origins yet but i certainly dont consider bayek a legend. I honestly just dont like his character at all. Ezio and Altair became legends after i witnessed them both in their old age and finished revelations. Bayek isn't an assassin..
Anyone remember this line from ac 2? For me this was the most memorable and emotional line The Auditore are not dead! Im still here! Me! Ezio! Ezio Auditore!
+Marijin Van beek not necessarily. Occasionally people in the ancient world who were incredibly wealthy and/or had the best medical care of the time and/or were very lucky lived to 90. One of the most famous Egyptian Pharaohs did. Altair was effectively the ruler of Masyaf and had extreme amounts of money.
Forever yours, Ezio. I came here after completing Ezio's trilogy; apparently, Revelation was my favorite. Indeed, no other Assassino can replace Ezio. Requiesce in pace.
When Ubisoft actually put in a lot of work for one character, even making a small movie for ezio death. And now I can’t even remember the names of these new Ac characters 🤦♂️. Bayek came close tho
Ezio set a pretty impressive standard for a character’s story. So far the rest of them have only had 1 game to show their story (maybe a cameo), which is kinda disappointing since they could clearly see how good a reception Ezio had. I REALLY wanted to see more of Connor (even if he was disliked), just something about the whole half British/Native American thing I liked...
@@venriskanu9751 i feel like Haytham was a potential great character, he had the right charm, the right voice, the right look, the right wit, but Ubisoft thought Connor and Shay were more deserving of a game than him which shows a lot about Ubisoft nowadays, they know Ezio was a work of art and even though they tried to replicate his funny persona in Odyssey with the greek dude, it's not the same not even close. It was the subtle things that made us love Ezio, him shouting to his uncle saying he liked the architect because he called him Ser Ezio, or the giggle he made when he threw caterina sforza to the haystack. Also the other characters around Ezio were also great, Da Vinci for example was awesome. I think Ubi knows the recipe to do another great character, but it seems they rather waste time on other things that they think are more important. I played AC2 the other day and Odyssey, and sure gameplay wise Odyssey has a lot more mechanics and cool stuff to do, but an evening playing with Ezio Auditore da Firenze beats any mechanic or cool graphic capability Ubi focus on these days
Maybe its to show how good ezio and altair were. They are above the standard so they make the new antoganists less important or not as good or interesting to show how great Altair and Ezio were
My interpretation of the man on the bench: I don't think anyone can argue that he isn't a Templar or a Templar-in-training. He has the symbol on his vambrace, painted in red. Not only that, but I think Ezio sees the symbol before he sits down next to him. It is, after all, right in his line of view. That's probably why Ezio's face shows concern the moment he takes a seat. Now, if we look at the man, we see he's almost a mirror image of Ezio, with obvious similarities. They both have a scar on their mouth, but it's on opposite sides. They both have the same eye colour. They both have the same indented cheeks. They're even the exact same height. This means that the man, similar to Ezio in his youth, is, in a sense, Templar Ezio. What Ezio _could_ have become at one point. In essence, he represents the never-ending conflict between the Assassins and Templars, as well as Ezio's inner turmoil, because to him there are only Assassin's and Templars. He has no chance to live an ordinary life, nor does anyone who gets involved with the centuries old war. It's almost heartbreaking, really, because despite everything Ezio's done, the Templars are still a force to be reckoned with, and they never stopped hunting him. Now listen to the conversation. The mysterious man says he hates Firenze, and that he'd rather be in Rome, where the women are like "grapes in a fine wine". Ezio owns a grape farm, but as he tells Shao Jun, the grapes aren't ripe yet. This leads me to believe that the man knows where Ezio lives, but he's also saying, in a round about way, that he has no interest in his wife and daughter. They're not "ripe", they're _not_ his targets. Ezio doesn't quite understand, but recognises that the man is a Templar. He says, "I don't think Firenze is your problem." This is definitely where his heart attack hits, but if you look closely, you can see he leans towards his blade, as if to say, "I'M your problem." Whether he's reaching for it or simply keeling over is certainly open to interpretation, but it makes the next part more sensible. The man stops Ezio and says, "Courage, old man." With this small gesture, he indicates that they don't have to fight. To me, this scene really stings, because it shows that Ezio has been fighting for so long it's become his default. He seems shocked when the man smiles and nods to him. I think he knew Ezio was sick. I think he'd been observing him and waiting for the right moment to strike, but he didn't want to do it callously. After all, Templars and Assassins ultimately want the same thing: peace. Not all of them are wicked and soulless. Just before the man leaves, you can hear a metallic sound as he puts his hand on Ezio's shoulder. I replayed it a few times with the volume maxed, and it kind of sounds like a puncture. He tells Ezio to rest, almost like "requiescant in pace", and walks away. I think he might have injected Ezio with a fast-acting poison, which explains why Ezio's pain suddenly vanished. Heart attacks are extremely painful and don't normally kill someone that quickly, but right after the man leaves, Ezio smiles to his family and slips away on the bench. In his final speech, addressed to his wife, he doesn't reveal anything about the Assassins, so we can rest assured they'll be safe. All his life and all throughout the episode that's what he feared, that his past would come back to haunt him. But in this final moment, we see that the Templars will leave his family in peace.
I don’t see a Templar insignia on his vambrace but seeing that he only has one on what I assume is his dominant hand makes me think that he definitely has a hidden blade. To my knowledge the only time we see a Templar with a hidden blade is during AC Black Flag and that was only because a Templar was taking them from dead assassins as trophies. So the weapon must be exclusively used by Assassins. I want to believe that he somehow killed Ezio just because of how he was acting but I just don’t see how he could have done it or really why. I think e he was A hallucination by Ezio showing how Ezio viewed his younger self
@@averageguy9549 As an italian i never heard speak spanish and french I think you probably heard the dialects that were used by the time nearly as the main language
Anyone else spotted that the place that Ezio died was the place where AC2 started? The tower was the tower that he climbed with his brother at the beginning.
Although that would've been awesome, Federico and Ezio climb a random church tower at the beginning. He died just below the tallest structure in Firenze, Giotto's Campanile.
I don’t usually comment, but I wanted to put this out there. Ezio is one of the best designed characters of all time, we’re with him from his birth, to his death, and get to see him age, mature, and grow wise through our time with him. Ezio didn’t grow up alone, every single one of us grew with him, and that is storytelling on a level I can’t even place. Rest In Peace Ezio, you’ve more than earned it
Agreed what really got me was seeing the Cristina memories in brotherhood, Ubisoft put more effort and thought for Ezio than any of their characters, someone as so minor as Cristina and needing to do 100% sync seeing them being her back really hit in the end.
What an awesome way for Roger Craig Smith to end his performance as Ezio. He was surely so much of what made him so popular and loved among everyone. Even if he wasn’t the first voice we heard of him. This final monologue truly was quite something from his performance, among many other great lines.
It seems that over the years Ubisoft can’t seem to make a main character that is so endearing and fleshed out as Ezio. They’ve tried their best but no one has even come close. It was a shame that after the Ezio games, Assassin’s Creed as a franchise just sort of went downhill from there (although Black flag was a pretty kick ass pirate game).
well if your talking about skill he was trained my mario and we have seen him grow over the games. a mary sue would have started as a master you guys are actual dumb if your going to says something like that have the facts first.
@@nenadmilovanovic5271 one more thing who was more interesting even in ac 3 which tbh is pretty good connor does not even come close. if your talking about any of the other games please take your meds.
The thing i hate about assassin creed is you're in the future looking through the past so anyone you play as is essentially dead whether from being killed or dying which sucks because Ezio was awesome.
well in a 100 years everyone in this comment section will be dead if they don't make some way to upload your consciousness that is and I'm sure someone will wonder about the amazing people in this generation that died
My son: Dad what is an assassins creed ? Me: Sit down son, I'm gonna tell you about 2 legends. Rip Altair & Ezio, you'll always have a special place in my heart . ♥️
I mean, we're probably biased to that idea because we got to see him grow up. We experienced betrayal, hardship, and more... romantic problems. Having the love of his life die in his arms, but she forgave him. She loved him, even though he was distant for so long. And he thought of nothing but her. Whenever he got a chance, he'd find her. And when Alberto ruthlessly killed his family, he thought of nothing but revenge. And he got it, and learned to move on. Killing these people might make him feel better, knowing that they're dead, but ultimately, it wouldn't matter. The past is in the past, and once we realize that and move on, we can accomplish virtually anything. And Ezio understood that.
tottally agree. although we did get to see most of the assassins grow up in the series, it was only in one game unlike ezio. if any of that made sense.
- *I heard his first breath* *I saw his first moving* *I lived his life* *I fall in love for the first time* *I saw his family died* *I saw his first love died* *I saw his very close friend died* *I Saw him dead inside* *I heard his last breath* What you expect from me? i played countless video games , i've never been attached to a character like i was to Ezio , what a story , what a character developpment , you saw his first breath , you get him to wear his first outfit and to use his first weapon , you climb the highest building with him and get to the deepest caves and tombs . The ending was perfect while it connected his story to altair's . i've never been emotional in a game before , but when i finished ac:revelations . i was in tears . requiescat in pace , Ezio Auditore
I was wondering why Ezio only lived up to his 60s and thought he should've lived much longer but remembered that not only is this set the 1500s where medicine hasn't come a long way yet but it's usually a miracle for people to live that long back then anyways.
La saggezza del nostro credo viene rivelata attraverso queste parole. Lavoriamo nel buio per servire la luce. Siamo assassini. Niente è vero, tutto è permesso.
You wanna know how Badass Ezio is? He has 3 games and an animated film. Definitely the greatest Assassin ever, only to be rivaled by Altair, with Edward coming in behind.
Tobie Olson I never really liked Edward. He was an ass for most of the game, and only showed kindness at the end. But yes, Ezio was easily the best Assassin.
Tobie Olson Eh, he's okay. I just hope they give the European guy a good personality. Ezio, Shady, and Altair were cool because he was charismatic and badass at the same time. And really none of the other Assassins did that for me.. :/
Ezio: teaches people to love one another and spent all of his life making sure the people would not suffer because of his actions as an assassin by replacing those he killed with better rulers. Edward: "YARGH IM A PIRATE, I LOVE MURDER AND STEALING" Jacob Frye: " OI IM GOING START MY OWN GANG AND FIGHT THOSE WANKERS" Anyone else feel like the Assassins kinda lost the message Ezio was spreading?
This is why Ezio is largely the favorite of the AC protagonists, his life was filled with such adventure, trials, hardship, and above all camaraderie from start to finish. No other Assassin in canon has had as much time and care put into his/her character, especially to the point where we've known them literally their entire life (the highs and lows anyway). In addition to being the most fleshed out and charismatic, he may well be the wisest if not just behind Altair. The original AC may have introduced us to the franchise, but Ezio's story is what really put it on the map. R.I.P. Ezio Auditore...
Arthur Magalhaes Yep, definitely. I'd have to say, my second favorite protagonist (even if he's not an official Assassin most of the game) is Edward Kenway. He just has a certain charisma about him, and the Caribbean was arguably the most diverse of the games' settings so far. Unlike most entries, which take place in large but singular locations (Even Paris, beautiful as it was, was one city), AC IV & Rogue gave us whole islands and parts of the ocean to explore. And no one who remotely likes pirates can deny that the naval features were awesome.
Arthur Magalhaes It'd be nice if they created a larger scale "Pirates of the Caribbean" style open world game or MMO that used AC IV's naval mechanics while expanding on the pirate lore and allowing us to create and customize our own character. That'd be epic, especially if they included supernatural enemies and sea monsters (Kraken please). I've seen trailers for Sea of Thieves since it premiered at E3, but it doesn't look so far to be embracing these concepts well. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
Arthur Magalhaes Okay, then just single player with co-op. I know MMO's can be tricky to pull off with large scale concepts that aren't implemented well (Cough, ESO).
Arthur Magalhaes What do you think about the idea of STD's (given the time period)? You could catch various diseases from doing certain activities, especially with uncertain looking characters like prostitutes. Most of these won't kill you but would affect you in negative ways, similar to Skyrim. However, you could also find ways of healing yourself: drugs, voodoo, rare medicinal ingredients found by killing sea monsters or certain supernatural enemies, etc. Since it's a game taking creative liberties with pirate history, it would still make sense in context of the game world's lore.
I'll explain what you all just saw. The man was a templar. Sent to kill Ezio, however the templar saw the condition Ezio was in. You can't regard all the templars as heartless and this just proves it. The man wasn't exactly excited on murdering a dying old man infront of his family. Knowing Ezio was on his last days he simply had a quick chat. when he placed his hand on Ezio's wrist this was to prevent Ezio from attacking him with his hidden blade. The words he said translate to "have courage, old man" and thats when Ezio realized that the man was a templar but he wasn't going to kill him (which is why the man nodded) This shows the templar having some morality as well and it ironically shows the master assassin getting along with the templar. Ezio simply died of his old age and poor health after the previous battle. He was neither poisoned or stabbed. He died with the honor that the templar let him have out of respect. Edit: this is not mine this is taken from another video so credit to that person
just a copy-paste of an answer to another comment like yours, which frankly seems more valid: Actually that man wasn't real at all. In that final scene, when Ezio began to die, he had his final death dream where his life flashed before his eyes so to speak and the man was actually young Ezio if he had never become an Assassin. The clothing, hair, and facial scar resemble Ezio enough to get the point across about who he is without being a perfect resemblance so it isn't obvious. That man represents what Ezio would've become had he continued down the path of being self-absorbed, careless, and reckless. The look of realization on Ezio's face when his eyes meet the man's eyes tells us that he understands who he's looking at, and that's why he immediately dies after the man tells him to "get some rest", as this is literally Ezio's dying hallucination talking to him in his last moments. And that's also why his last look is a smile towards his family, as he knows that he lived the right life and made the right choice
You should always fear an old man in a profession where most men die young. Men like Ezio and Altiar got the endings they deserved, dying peacefully and at ease. Neither man was murdered or fell in battle, but their own bodies couldn't keep them alive, leading to their collapse. Altiar lost his family to a corrupt Brotherhood and died alone in a vault; one of his sons were murdered by a fellow assassin, his wife sacrificed herself to stop him from becoming the very monster he swore to destroy. I'm not sure what happened to his other son, but he wasn't there to see Altiar pass as far as I know. Ezio died in a park bench surrounded by strangers and his loving family that were powerless to save him. Ezio knew loss, the same as Altiar, but Ezio's pain stemmed from his early adulthood that drove him to revenge. He cut a swath through the Templar Order and cut down enough men to fill a small country, but not a single person could best him. Both men met similar fates, both men were so similar they almost mirrored each other. May they find peace in the afterlife, and may we as fans keep their legends alive and well. After all, legends never die.
@@kiritoakemininja5100 That is the stance I took, but I know a loooot of people think he just died or whatever, and I never saw any official stance taken by anyone with authority on it, where did you hear that?
This is why Ezio was everyones favorite, we knew him over a span of 3 games, starting from him exiting the womb of his mother, to hearing his last breath in this short film. I had once thought Edward was my favorite, but ever since ive seen this I changed my mind. (19:08 was heartbreaking, hearing his last breath) I also really like Ezio because of his race, Italian. I am part Italian and I just enjoy that little fact. That's another reason I keep replaying the "Ezio trilogy" because we know they die because in present day it is 5 centuries later and we just cant get over the fact he died. I still cant get over it now
I hope ezio found his peace he was the best assassin. My favourite game character. He inspiratet me (dont ask me how he just did it), so I still hope the ubisoft make another ac with Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
It's really sad that Ubisoft listened to all the newcomers who just wanted to stab people all game when Assassin's Creed used to be so much more than that. I wish they'd just bring back the old AC with great stories about the Templars and Assassins and their endless philosophical war. The games that took us through realistic historical places were the fiction took a back seat and wasn't the main focus.
The newcomers who only wanted to stabbed people in the face are those who claim themselves to be OG AC fans and proclaim Unity is the best and the last AC game.
His story is way better than most of the modern day films. You don't have to be a gamer to love the great Ezio Auditore. In my opinion, he is the best character UBISOFT ever created. Requiescat in pace Ezio 🙌
The fact that Ezio would die of old age on the very same plaza his family (sans his mother and sister) died is beautifully ironic. He could've died in so many places in much more epic ways and what he got in the end was a peaceful death, living with his wife and daughter near his hometown.
Actually they didn't die in the same place. His family was murdered in front of Piazza della Signoria, while Ezio here rests in front of Santa Maria del Fiore.
The Best Enterpreneur in Italy. Landlord owning the half of shops in Italy and 1/4 of Istanbul (not Constantinople, why they made it I can't say, maybe it's just better that way). And of course, The Great Patron of Art, owning the most of the most famous reinesance paintings
welniok It's Costantinople because it's the original name. Istanbul was the name Turks gave to the city after it had fallen in their hands. Telling the truth I don't know what made Ubisoft to make Ezio say Costantinopoli but I'm VERY VERY Happy for that. I very like when they call The City with It's original name. Maybe because I'm half Greek and a Byzantine History Passionate.
I like the implication that the guy at the end was a Templar sent to finish Ezio off, but just couldn't do it. One because...Ezio was LITERALLY about to die, but also that despite being on opposite sides of the conflict, the Templars had a massive amount of respect for Ezio as an enemy.
I also like to think the nod he gave Ezio was assurance that his family will be spared. With him gone, the Auditore family will no longer be in the Templars’ crosshairs.

remember the moment in end of Revelations, where he talks to Desmond? Ezio never fully understood WHY he was doing whatever he was doing. its US the gamers that know the extent of story. imagine whole lore and plot from his perspective... he sacrificed whole life and never uncovered even half of secrets he was so desperately trying to find all these years and decades... that's sad honestly
but he always knew he was serving something bigger than him, and that's a good thing also..

How'd you figure that out?!

Da Don lol that is the best comment I've seen in ages haha

Now living in a cozy Tuscan Villa with his wife and their two children, Ezio spends his time enjoying the company of family, old friends, and cultivating his vineyards.

When Ubisoft actually put in a lot of work for one character, even making a small movie for ezio death. And now I can’t even remember the names of these new Ac characters 🤦♂️. Bayek came close tho
Shao-Jun is the newest one I remember, if that is how you spell it.
They are above the standard so they make the new antoganists less important or not as good or interesting to show how great Altair and Ezio were
What about Edward he was awesome
My interpretation of the man on the bench:
I don't think anyone can argue that he isn't a Templar or a Templar-in-training.
Can you please write my next analysis exam

Lol!
I dont see any templar symbol in his vambrace.

True.

This deserves an OSCAR!!!!!! It's a masterpiece.
Yes definitely the best and most realized Assassin in the franchise.

I did think it was kind of weird that he grabbed ezios hand like that out of nowhere, this actually makes sense.
just a copy-paste of an answer to another comment like yours, which frankly seems more valid:
Actually that man wasn't real at all.
@@thander1992 why this seems more valid, I wonder?
For me personally I think the OP's explanation seems more realistic you know
You should always fear an old man in a profession where most men die young.
Well said
well depending on how you look at the final scene here he could have been killed.
That other son was in Egypt, and he’s Desmond’s ancestor

@@kiritoakemininja5100 That is the stance I took, but I know a loooot of people think he just died or whatever, and I never saw any official stance taken by anyone with authority on it, where did you hear that?
This is why Ezio was everyones favorite, we knew him over a span of 3 games, starting from him exiting the womb of his mother, to hearing his last breath in this short film. I had once thought Edward was my favorite, but ever since ive seen this I changed my mind. (19:08 was heartbreaking, hearing his last breath) I also really like Ezio because of his race, Italian.

David Gilchrist SHUT UP HE WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER OTHER THAN MASTER CHEIF!
Actually Ezio got murdered

Generic Name no the guy helped him
He choose to die there he knew his time came and he choose to go with Catherina she even said why didn’t you stay home
R.I.P Ezio Auditore best assassin of the game series
William Douglas the duck you know what i mean
Are you born sparta
I like the implication that the guy at the end was a Templar sent to finish Ezio off, but just couldn't do it. One because...Ezio was LITERALLY about to die, but also that despite being on opposite sides of the conflict, the Templars had a massive amount of respect for Ezio as an enemy.
I also like to think the nod he gave Ezio was assurance that his family will be spared. With him gone, the Auditore family will no longer be in the Templars’ crosshairs.

FruitBasket dude I downloaded this on my PS4 about a year 1/2 ago and thought there was a bad ass assissans creed game that I misse. Loaded that shit seen it was in 2D?? And looked like a new age Arcade game?? I was so mad 😡
FruitBasket I looked it up... its not cannon it's not the actual way he died
CamzillaGaming what?
Sad to see him go, but I couldn't imagine a better ending to the life of the greatest assassin. Requiescat in Pace dear Ezio.
melissa diaz Ezio himself said Altair was the assassin of legend. He could never surpass him, nor his deeds. But it's not to say, he didn't make his own legend. One of the best series I've played. Until after AC3. Turned to crap IMO
The regret in Ezio's voice for having fought too long and contemplating that " Now I worry I do not have time to do anything " broke my heart!!!! He lost his family , the love of his life (Christina) , and when he got everything(Sophia was a favorite character in Revelations) , he left this earth
