- In 2021, we celebrate the 115th birthday of the aircraft designer A.S. Yakovlev, in whose honor a special exhibition will be held at the Vadim Zadorozhny’s Museum of Technology, together with the Yakovlev Design Bureau. One of the events of the exhibition was a photo session of Yak aircraft flying on tests at the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky. And I joined this photo session to shoot something beautiful for you!
Special thanks to O.F. Demchenko, M.V. Shcherbakov, the management of the Design Bureau, the Museum and all the employees of the Yak Research Institute for such an adventure! Now you can walk around the Institute with us!
Thank you for watching!

@Skyships Eng
*Brilliant video. Still rare that westerners get to see interesting Russian planes close up and personal!*
Thanks friend, and thank you to the folks in Russia at the Aviation Institute that made this possible.
Agreed
I'm glad to see Russian aviation is doing better. For what it's worth, I think that you are a good narrator and your English is excellent.
Mitsubishi Spacejet program cost- 6.5 billion
Bombardier C-Series program cost - 7 billion
Sukhoi Superjet program cost - 1.5 billion
Now the SSJ program has had its fair share of problems. But you can see Russia's pricing power.
Ouch.
This must be the first wing view of an MC-21 we have, that plane is really good looking!
Non interlinked sidestick have been implicated in Airbus crashes and incidents, where the pilot doesn't know what the other pilot is doing. Recently (decade timescale), a Western company developed a solution to make both sidesticks move at the same time, and it attracted the interest of the UK military and seemingly, at least one business jet maker. So, the MC21 having this feature is an impressive.
All my love to Russia from the UK! absolutely beautiful aircraft - I can't wait to see what the future holds!
yeah you fly in that russian death trap..
@@reserva120 I'd rather fly in one of these than a Boeing 737 max.
Sky is unmatched in artful, masterful, articulate narrative. 💛🙏🏼
@Todd Brooks Still, I think they have been hugely innovative, and furthered any ideas they have borrowed. God bless, 💛🙏🏼
@Todd Brooks .... well every plane copies eachother the only reason why russia copy so much is probably bcus soviet union poor and stuff idk
As usual Sky fabulous presentation! I love aviation and as a American and a son of a USAF father, he respected the Russian, USSR aircraft as we should all do. Great engineering should be recognized anywhere time 🙂
I love the design of the tri-jets
It’s a shame that they are not made anymore
Russia had the best designs aesthetically - although I know my country (UK) had high hopes for the Hawker Siddeley Trident but it seems that 4 engine laws for long distance travel pretty much killed the tri-jet - such a shame!
@@JohnnyWednesday BEA pretty much killed the Trident by wanting something smaller than de Haviland wanted to build, so we didn't get the new Rolls-Royce engine. de Haviland's naivety when talking to Boeing didn't help any either.
Me too. It's not economical when it comes to passenger airlines but still somewhat profitable with cargo.
I hope the new MC-21 is a success for Russia. I read that the Sukhoi Superjet 100 was also getting a new engine and a update as well. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Which is where Beechcraft , Cessna and Learjet originated. They continue to manufacture and build many jets and propellor driven aircraft to this day. I am a new subscriber to your channel. You are an excellent narrator. Your English is far better than my Russian.
Also there's MODIFICATIONS iL 76
And coming tublov 204
Amazing
New engine
Fuel efficiency
No nosy.
Unique shots of the MC-21. Greate work
I know nothing about Russian aviation! Good to have good quality video about it!
I really hope that the MC 21-300 does well. It's about time that a Russian product got to break into the world wide market.
I think the Yak-130 is a cute little fighter trainer. I'd love to have one. In red, just like that.😍
I wish I could like your videos thousands of times.
Many thanks Sky, you are an amazing storyteller. I always look forward to your videos!
woohoooo new skyship vid !
The Yak 130 is a super design
One of my favorite RUclips channels! 👍👍👍
I was born in 1968, during the cold war, in Australia, I LOVE Russian planes ❤❤❤
I love Russian aircraft!! They have some of the coolest airplane's!! I just hope they don't give up all their great engineering to China!!!! I would love to see Russia have a successful comercial aviation industry over China!!
As a Oregonian, I hope to see some MC aircraft flying with US Airlines, and that I can then in the future have the joy of being able to fly on them!
The video was amazing!
This guy has amazing English, and a perfect amount of Russian accent. Not too strong, not too American.
Amazing videos, keep up this amazing channel!
I like to see the Russian aircraft, especially the innovative civilian developments from Russia. I would like to see a western airline purchase some Yakolev MC-21's and boost the Russian civilian aviation industry.
I would like to see you do an MC-21 update, last video about it was 3 years ago.
Competition is always a good thing for customers
I Love all aircraft i don't care what nation Builds them! Thanks for the upload!
Russian aircraft designers, over the decades, have churned out some truly amazing aircraft, they really have....... and this includes both military and civilian aircraft. The future is bright, I hope, so...... Well done Russia!!
Pretty cool u got to go there
Nice video, as always! Cheers from Brazil!
I am drooling. I will take 3 of the Yak 130's. What a beautiful plane. As long as I am dreaming, I also want an AN-2 Annie.
Excellent video, love this channel and watch every one of your videos done in English.
As an afterthought, the planes look so sexy as the women of Russia are stunning so the designers have a head start on the plane design.
Excellent as always ... and for us in the west this is a glimpse and a narrative that is rare indeed .
Great vid as always Sky!
Excellent, thanks
I have 4 devices and always make sure to like the videos on all of them. Great job!
Gonna humbly request a video on the a-10 warthog
Superb job!
Sky!! Keep it up! Big fan in Chicago here!!
wow.the MC21 looks cool.look out Airbus and Boeing!
What a great tour… can’t wait to see the Yak-152 fly.
Up until today I thought skyships Eng meant 'skyships engineering', then I found the Russian version called 'skyships' and it didn't click at first... Then I found skyships esp with the Spanish flag in the background, but THEN I went to skyships Eng, looked at the flag AND THEN it clicked 🤣🤣🤣 dang I was slow on this one 😂
Great video,keep it up!🈴️🈲️🈂️🆙️🈯️🈹️
Great shots. Thanks man.
2:45 due to the door config of the MC-21 I actually think it is better suited for competition against the A321
I flew on a YK-40 from Moscow to Ulyonosk (sp) in August 2002 (and again in November of 2002). It seemed two days older than dirt at that time, no thrills, miserable jet to fly in. I am sure my memory is false, but I could swear, I remember chickens being transported in the cabin. Like our flights in Aeroflot 767's, I found the crew to be rude and matter of fact (which I appreciate more and more). I think they hated their jobs and much as we hated to be flying on the YK-40. lol It did get us to where we were going safely. At the time, I thought of the YK40 as a miniature 727. We did board through the rear stairs. Only one time have I done that in a 727 (Well before 9:11).
Gorgeous
what a brilliant chanel, im addicted
Nice piece
Unique material, thank you
Roman Taskaev is still working? Fantastic. That guy has a hell of a career.
Tx u..fantastic video..
Great video!
a premiere visit
that's cool
It was cool to see all the glass and side-stick's in the 21! I was looking forward to your usual humor, as I enjoy that to, but I think I missed it on this one. LOL 8)
I like to know all about aviation, so subbed. 👍
I envy you. i can't wait see mc-21 closeup, it is so pretty.
What is that gorgeous Concorde looking ship at 0:28 ?
Tupolev Tu 144
umm SkyshipsEng why is the Russian version of the vc-10 video available on your English channel as I had somehow by sheer accident while watching the English version of the 777 video ended up on the Russian version of the VC-10
Since you mentioned it is a restricted area: Did someone have to approve the video before you uploaded to RUclips?
Well done mate good job ☝️👌👍
I love your videos my friend
MC21 is a Yak? always considered it a mix between a Tupolev and Ilyushin
Just love those Soviet planes - beauties.... New ones looks like the ones we have in the west.
What date did you film at the airport with snow on it?
Hello there.
I think you need to do a video comparing the result of Soviet/Russian pilots operating with uncaged fans vs their Western counterparts who used caged fans while they still used fans.
Are you gonna do the yak 42
8:26 The Aeroflot hammer & sickle is visible onboard the Як-42
Very Solid Aircraft indeed. 👏👏👏🥇🥇🥇🏆🏆🏆
I wonder if you would make a video of the legendary YAK-141
Man i was really hoping for a Fokker 70/100 video
Woooot!
Lots of cool planes. The only Soviet planes I've seen close up are Cubana TU-154s, long since retired.
Interesting paint scheme on the MC-21. Are Airbus part of the project?
I like the mc 21
Could it be that MC stands for "Marshrutni Samolyot" (sorry about spelling) - "Line Aircraft" - and the "Cee" actually beeing a cyrillic "S" :-) ?
It's "magistralniy samolyot 21 veka" («Магистральный самолёт 21 века», „mainline aircraft of the 21st century“), «МС-21» in Cyrillic. Yes, it's Cyrillic "С" that sounds like "c" in "celery" or like "s" in "salad".
Super.
Russian aircraft are really good looking
Why does the MC-21 have a short stubby tailfin, while on the Tu-204 it is so big and tall ?
Lovely🚩
Yes.. The history of the 242!
I think Russians build jets specifically for aviation geeks like myself
Not only you)
MC 21-300 su h å beautiful plane🙂
👍 👍 👍 🌻
I work for the company that makes the engines 😊
Antonov An-225 Mriya video please
There are many aicrafts of the soviet era with oustanding aerodynamic performances as the short and medium airliners and cargo aircrafts which just need to be modernised with more eco-friendly and economical engines, better avionics and flight control systems instead of starting from scratch when funding is a big issue.
MC-21 is going to be an interesting plane. But at the same time it makes me wonder if it'll share Sukhoi Superjet's fate outside it's home country, as the infrastructure to maintain it just wasn't there and it was phased out quickly. I got to fly on one just once, now Embraer and likes have taken its place.
Oh, BTW I am in the USA and contrary to what the mass media claims here we Americans love the Russian People.
I don't know what the mass media claim, I think Americans, just like the Russian people, simply hated the Soviet communist government.
@@jacobzimmermann59 Except the bagel controlled mass media in the USA likes to DEMONIZE RUSSIA, they repeatedly say Russia, not Putin, or Communism. It's about dividing the white tribes to conquer them.
Not true, there are really many people who wants to return to Soviet Union. I know the grass was greener and they were younger. But the fact is this number increases, those wishing to return back to the USSR. And it's 30 years passed and the number of those who know personally how it was gets lower and lower. The reason is just people's low income and no savings. And people think the state should care about them, as it was a socialistic state (that economically failed, they forget about it). Many people think it was a great empire that produced spaceships, nuclear submarines, etc... achievements in sports in olympiads, in football... And now we just have smaller remnants of that civilazation. Also there is some state propaganda that usually brings soviet era in positive light, great times. Actually there were lots of great achievements. I can't say which number is bigger, those who say Stalin was good and red flag is admirable, or those who hate the name of Stalin. People don't often express their feelings in this way. But there are many folks on both sides.
@@AndreyPutilov Russia was actually a major middle class nation prior to the commies defeating the white army. That's right prior to the 1917 commie takeover there were actually more middle class people in Russia than in the USA, and the nation was richer than the USA as well. Commienism took over the devastated the Russian People many of the best and brightest people were brutally murdered as many as 60 million Russian Christians were killed by Stalin and subsequent dictators from the 1930s-1950s.
we need MC21 in India.. since our Aviation market is growing really fast.. we need these in our inventory & also a production plant..
нам нужен MC21 в Индии ... так как наш авиационный рынок растет очень быстро ... они нужны нам в нашем инвентаре, а также на заводе ...
"MC 21 special" sooner the better.
I only hope that the Russians learned some business lessons through the mess they made out of the Superjet. The MS-21 will need significant technical support if it is to be sold worldwide
If there's a real replacement for the 757, it's this aircraft.
@Andrew Tubbiolo
Indeed, the Boeing 757 (actually the Mc Donnell Douglas company designed this plane ) is what many call a "pilots" plane when it comes to commercial aviation. It's very maneuverable, nimble and quick to respond to inputs....Plus from a causal observers very it looks very sleek and good too!
Soviet planes my favorite
2:22 That MC-21's engines seem MUCH too close to the ground. Those are just begging to scrape the runway with just a common gust of wind on landing. If mild, they'll still lose hundreds of thousands inspecting the damage. If more than mild, jet flips over. Am I wrong or is that extremely obvious?
The synchronized sidestick is a good idea. I guess they learned from the Air France airbus crash where a complete moron of a first officer kept pulling back on the sidestick thinking that would prevent a stall, while the captain was unaware of what the FO was doing.
When all of the political issues between Russia and the U.S. is overwith, I hope to see the MC-21 flying with airlines in the U.S.. The 737MAX, in my opinion, is still an unsafe plane. The C919 and MC-21 will make great competitors to Boeing especially. Airlines can purchase them cheaper than a 737MAX. For up to 3,000 miles, they can easily make Los Angeles to New York non-stop. These might be the answer to low cost airlines if Russia and China can provide spare parts. Perhaps not as advanced as the Airbus neo, the MC-21 looks like a sturdy and reliable jet that would provide comfort and attract customers here in the US and in Europe. I wish the MC-21 good luck as for the money, an airline will get a great plane for the money. History has shown Russia has built great, long lasting aircraft.
Russia has srtong pilar in airflight industry .....high quality
Check out James Asquith aviation videos, he is so funny.
This is a really good channel, but it could really benefit from some professional translation- many turns of phrase by the narrator often sound like gibberish, which is a shame because he is obviously knowledgeable on his subject.
Mc21 is a minger
Not a surprise russia is good in manufacturing aircrafts.. they can build gigantic airplanes..
