Hi Tim, I just made these for my own 80s Hawk. But they are the top EMT when folding hits the top of my counter. Did you run into this issue when you drew yours up? Would moving my pivot up/down correct this?
Hey glad you found the video helpful. I can’t quite picture your specific problem. A lot of folks have had issues with the pivot not being centered but in have trouble picturing your hitting the counter. What do you mean by that?
Great question. The system does not rotate all 180 degrees. It’s more like a steep v. So there is room to accommodate the material. Hope that makes sense. You have a project going yourself?
Sounds heavy. Can't you install two or four gas or hydraulic struts to help with the lifting? For the cotter pin, can they be replaced with spring loaded push pin/nobs like those aluminum adjustable stool legs? I guess you cant because the upper conduit needs to pivot instead of extend/reduce hieight straight. For pulling the canvas in while closing the roof: straps would help.
It’s really not heavy. But yet you can install lifting struts. Standard on newer campers. If I have more solar up there I would Have looked into the struts more.
@@tgmorrissey yeah I agree your current lifting mechanism will need enforcement to handle the weight from both the solar panels and the vent fan (lots of examples need that to reduce the condensation). Too bad you're getting rid of the camper.
Brilliant in its simplicity
Great job 👍
Thanks so
Much.
Exactly the part I copied from you ! Great idea and workmanship!
Thanks so much.
Brilliant. Nice work
Thanks! Do you have a camper project you’re working on these days too?
Awesome...thank you for the demonstration!
You are so welcome. Are you building a camper yourself?
Well done though so simple

@@tgmorrissey solved that issue! On to the next…now my roof doesn’t line up when closed
And yes, the pivot needs to be centred
Good to learn. Nice job!!
How do you prevent the pop up mechanism (the conduit) from pinching the fabric when you fold down the top?

@@tgmorrissey yep, early stages of figuring out what exactly I'm going to do with a truck. Your videos have been very helpful.

If you add a 150nm gas ram in centre will take some pressure off it will lower slower
Yeah. Many folks put gas struts in. I never got around to it. Great suggestion though.

@@tgmorrissey how does your roof weigh?
I never weighed it sorry. I’d say around 50 lbs at most.
@@tgmorrissey do think this set up would work for a 120lb roof?
Electric actuators needed with extra bar on side
That would be cool!
@@tgmorrissey add u shape bracket in centre and one at base bolt though type add 150 ram wot hit you on head 🤭🤭
