I’d wondered about that! The second and third series never really resonated with me - decent, sure, but nothing like as amazing as the first. The scripts seemed so clunky and unpolished compared to before. Writing and scripting is usually the most subtle and underrated bit of any TV show or movie. And the foundation. Remove a talent like Graham Linehan, and every other bit of the show suffers.

Just you wait KB and QB and babyB, it gets better and better. The customer tirade on Manny is one of my favorite scenes ever...especially with Manny's hair blowing back from the force of the outburst.

I can’t imagine princess boomer would allow you to not pause it, but I fully recommend bill Bailey ‘part troll’. It’s a stand up gig so you’re looking at 90 mins at least, so that’s why I said you’re likely to have to pause some of it, but it’s one of the best stand up routines I’ve ever seen. I actually don’t like music in stand up usually, but bill is such a talented musician, that it is perfect.

Black books and the comedians in the show are just a very different sense of humour from other more mainstream shows, its not for everyone but its very original and funny and it stands out as brilliant if you get it.

There has been a real revival of small independent bookshops here in Sydney Australia. I know because a few years ago my publisher asked me for a list of possible sellers of my book in the Sydney area, and I stopped listing them after I reached about 70 shops.

We have a book town here called Hay on Wye. It had (and hopefully still does) a castle with a self proclaimed King of Hay on Wye and book shops, lots and lots of book shops! Mostly in old buildings with nooks and crannies and not many right angles. If you can find stuff about it online I think you'd enjoy it. Black Books is a great choice! ATB
