    The Cornetto trilogy are all written, directed and acted by the same people. They are different characters, different stories - but they have similar styles. The Cornetto comes from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost & Edgar Wright using Cornetto ice creams as a hangover cure.
    Chronologically the films are:
    Shaun of the Dead - Strawberry Cornetto (Zombie / Horror)
    Hot Fuzz - Vanilla Cornetto (buddy cop / action)
    World's End - Mint Cornetto (Sci-fi)

    Hot Fuzz is my own favourite of the trilogy.
    I'm sure it must have been mentioned in the other comments, but a Cornetto is an ice-cream - Ed asks for one when Shaun goes to the shop, and sits and eats it (you can see him licking the lid with 'Cornetto' written on it) when they sit and watch TV after they've dealt with their first zombies in the garden.
    This, Hot Fuzz and The World's End form the Trilogy, which is based around the different flavour and wrapper colour featured in each film.

    • @YannickoYT
      @YannickoYT Год назад +1

      And the flavour of the Cornetto they're eating in each film also relates to the type of film:

    Some trivia - The Winchester is a real pub. It used to be Simon Pegg's regular watering hole and he used to go there with Chris Martin from Coldplay before they were famous.
    Ed's line "We're coming to get you Barbara" is a reference to Night Of The Living Dead, where the heroine's brother teases her in the graveyard saying "THEY'RE coming to get you Barbara".
    There are a couple of cuts to allow for UK-US language differences. In the UK version he says about the girl in the garden "She's so pissed", meaning drunk, but to avoid confusion the US line was changed to simply "She's so drunk". So you're watching the US recut here.
    You might not have realised, but when the group runs into their lookalikes, Maggie is actually Jackie from Friday Night Dinner.

    37.00 was the funniest boomers moment.
    Its like the time I first heard two teenage girls discussing football and one asking 'why dont they just score'? and the other saying "i dont know, I dont think they are allowed to until everyone shouts at them' lol
    But yes imagine a metal box that is temperature proof and bullet proof and cheap enough for every gun store in America to have alot of them... lol

    Glad you enjoyed this movie - great to watch along with you.
    Could I suggest you watch the series _SPACED_ - by the same director (Edgar Wright) and also starring _Simon Pegg_ and that _girl that QB liked_ ..and a whole bunch of people outta this movie.
    It's a quieter non-scary sitcom about two strangers getting a flatshare together (sharing an appartment) in London.
    It's really kooky, funny and has a zillion film references.
    Absolutely brilliant.

    • @dabe1971
      @dabe1971 Год назад +2

      The film was actually inspired by an episode of Spaced when Simon Pegg's character hallucinates after taking cheap speed and playing a marathon session of Resident Evil. The series was also co-written by Pegg and Jessica Hynes who played Yvonne who saved them with the "Biohazard" team. Simon and Edgar Wright thought it would be a great basis for a movie and this was the result. Hot Fuzz is the best of the Trilogy.

      @@margaretflounders8510 It's perfectly legal to own a gladius in the UK, as they don't fall under the definition of "curved sword". You can have it in your home and do what you like with it. You just can't randomly carry it around with you; if you're taking it somewhere, it has to be secured and you have to have a good reason for it. "Three inch non-locking blade" is just the rule for what you can carry around for general use, not for what you can own.

    Might be a bit late but for context, here in Britain everyone has their ‘local’, which is their FAVOURITE pub they go to. You remain loyal to your local. The Whinchester is their local and so they wont go anywhere else. Also a pub is like a bar but more social and they also have food, and have a lot of local history behind them, some of our pubs are older than the US!

    Been waiting for this one. Glad you're watching it together.
    I grew up across the road from the Winchester (Duke of Albany) pub. My mum worked in that pub a few years before the film. It was a really rough Millwall supporters pub. 😂 It has since been changed into flats (apartments) though. You can still make out the pub from it though, which is cool. Still in New Cross, South East London.
    They were using locals as extras. I remember watching them film the scenes outside the park and pub when I was 16. I had no idea how big the movie would become. I assumed it was just some low budget movie. 😂 A couple of years after its release, I came across it to rent whilst I was in Australia. Blew my tiny little mind.

    There have been times when gun stores and ammo-dumps have caught fire and cooked off all the ammo. Basically, you put an order out for everyone to take shelter in doors and let it burn. Since you can't send firefighters over to deal with the blaze because bullets are 1000s of bullets are popping off randomly.
    Edit. Plus, you have to wait for hours since they can go off a long time after getting hot. Not just open flame.
