    Just found your channel. I have been dying to paddle camp, but I have no one to go with; my husband doesn’t like water 😕. You are too cute ☺️ I am going to binge all your videos this week. Look forward to more adventures 🌸

      Thanks for the kind comment! I hope you enjoy the channel and find it helpful.
      I'm sorry to hear you don't have anyone to go paddle camping with. If you aren't comfortable going solo I'd recommend finding some Facebook groups of like minded folks in your area or companies that organize and run this type of activity.

    Just a tip for leeches, use your nail flat along your skin to pop them off at the sucker. If you use sand or salt it can cause them to vomit what they have back into the wound and cause an infection. Happy paddles!

    Just got my new board and can't wait to get out on it still a bit chilly here in Minnesota. Would love to overnight on it im a 64yr old male retiring soon and looking forward to many adventures. Can't get into Canada because of alcohol mistakes made many years ago 😟 but we have lots of beautiful lakes here. wonderful video thanks for sharing.

      Congratulations on the new purchase! Good call to wait, the water takes a bit to warm up and cold water is no joke.
      Sorry you can't get to Canada but I know you have loads of amazing spots for adventures there too!
      Here is the backcountry trip I did last year. First time with paddle boards and portaging 🙌🏼

    What is your overall opinion on multiday backcountry padcle boarding camping. Sup vs canoe? Do you want to focus more on overnight SUP trips or from your videos, it seems you are doing more day trips? Is a SUP really suited to multi-day trips or is it mostly for day trips. I ask because I am interesting in buying a SUP for touring multi-day i.e. tobermory, algonquin, killarney, georgian bay.

    • @PaddleAdventurer
      @PaddleAdventurer  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching and for your comment, Larry!
      You can absolutely use a SUP for touring multi-day trips.
      This video was my first ever SUP backcountry camping trip so I don't have a ton of experience with multi-day trips just yet. I'm currently planning a 3-night backcountry Killarney trip with a few portages on my SUP later this summer. Stay tuned for how that goes!
      I think it comes down to personal preference.
      I personally like the new challenge & experience, it's easier to get in and out of the water and it fits my lifestyle; I use an iSUP as I have a smaller car and very little storage. Plus having my own paddle vessel allows me to be more flexible.
      With a SUP you need to plan and pack with a much more streamlined approach vs simply placing packs and barrels in the bottom of a canoe. You also need to keep in mind that you are more susceptible to the conditions like wind and waves (of course, you do have the option to go on your knees if needed)
      If you're new to paddle boarding I'd recommend taking a good flatwater skills course to develop strong technical skills.
      I have a short blog on 5 things I learned from my first trip (this video) here paddleadventurer.com/sup-backcountry-camping/
      I hope this helps answer your questions. Let me know if you have any more!

    The Loon was trying to lead you away from its nest by pretending to be unable to fly.

    • @PaddleAdventurer
      @PaddleAdventurer  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting!
      That wasn't my impression. We were in the middle of the lake and there were 4 loons, 2 of which were learning to fly. They were going back and forth in the same area, not trying to lead us away. Plus we saw them doing the same thing in the distance before we got to the section of the lake. Loons also typically nest in early spring and this was filmed in late summer.
      Overall the loon calls were pretty magical on this lake!
