Holy cow, so great seeing this story. I'm in my mid 50s, from Ottawa, went off to Japan to teach English "for a year or 2" hahaha. Between Japan and Korea, I've been teaching/running my own business in Asia for almost 3 decades. Now applying to join the CAF. Did reserve training in the late 80s, and always wondered if that was a path I should have continued down.
@@Lambdamale. this is the answer. I'm 30 and in the sign up stage with my recruiter. Been going to the gym for 2 weeks. Last week it took me 20 min to go 1 mile, now I'm down to 14 min. Any progress is good progress. The more I go, the easier it'll get.

Agree, however, I think it is because the term of service which dictates, for an officer, minimum SSE (Short Service Engagement) contract is 9 years if that has not yet changed. He is 53yo, so CRA (Compulsory retirement Age) 60, that means he would not qualify...
Thank you . Anyone should be able to join the military and serve . They could easily put the older people and the disabled people at desk jobs and so forth
I'm surprised nobody kicked your butt over your beret! When I was in, having your beret on properly and formed perfectly was a matter of unit pride! Just a little advice from a veteran medic.
My fireteam partner in basic, you did great POPS! Your father would be proud
That is awesome!
I know of many popps that I served with too

You guys killed it in BMQ - Mitchell
