Reservists should receive the same rigorous basic training as the Regular Force, either at CFLRS or any base that conducts D-BMQ, to ensure a uniform standard of discipline, skills, and preparedness. During my trade training, I encountered reservists in the course who had noticeable difficulty with drill-one of the core elements of military discipline. Drill goes beyond simple marching; it instills focus, precision, and respect for structure, which are essential qualities in any military environment. When we discussed our basic training experiences, the differences became clear. For many of the reservists, basic training seemed less intense, even described by some as “a walk in the park.” This perception likely reflects a difference in training standards or levels of intensity between the two groups. As a result, reservists may not always develop the same level of discipline or readiness as their Regular Force counterparts. This gap in training standards can affect unit cohesion, performance, and mutual respect, making it all the more important for both reservists and Regular Force members to receive the same foundational training.
How hard your BMQ is for reservists depends a lot on what armory or base you trained on, as well as your staff. It is a genuine issue, my basic was taught mostly by infanteers so we didn't get more than maybe 20 minutes of free time in a night right before lights out and got beasted often unless we had a test the following day, at which point we'd usually be granted 3-4 hours to study, clean our rifles and shacks and prep for inspection the next morning, but if you get non-infanteer staff you'll usually have a mildly more relaxed experience. Reservists also get the option of a weekend BMQ which is done with the idea of troops being able to work their full-time jobs during the week and then do BMQ on the weekend, and unfortunately it results in a lot of skill fade between weekends and generally results in easier courses. It's unfortunate and oftentimes results in lower cohesion and large amounts of skill fade.
PT clothes are issued out at the unit level because PT strip is usually unique to the unit (with a handful of exceptions). These are reservists so they already have units they belong to before they even ship off to BMQ, some units give their troops unit PT strip before they go on course, but a lot of units require you to pass your DP1 before you earn the privilege of wearing the regiment's PT strip. Myself and most of the other gunners I know had to wear civie PT strip during our basic and DP1 not because our units couldn't afford PT strip, but because we weren't gunners yet, so we weren't allowed to wear anything with "RCA" or the arty badge. It'd be like if we wore the arty cap badge before we ever pulled the laniard, it's like as a cardinal sin for us.

@@daisyveronique3439 what are you talking about? Genuinely? its never been this bad
@@daisyveronique3439 tell me you've never served a day in your life without telling me....
@2:06..... get a haircut bud. And wear your beret properly, not that difficult.
What a joke! On line "training"? To make it easier for them? And instructors with "man-buns"?
Our Forces are going for shit!!!!! VP
Curious, are you a member of CAF?
@@WakandaX_Considering he signed off with "VP" and most civies I've met dont know that we refer to PPCLI as VP (i.e. 2VP = 2PPCLI, 3VP = 3PPCLI), I'd say its safe to assume so.
How does someone's hair offend you so much? Ya know they updated the dress regs quite a few years ago, don't like them, don't get one.
@@charlesdark2861yet is pissy about how someone else does their hair, despite it being within regulations.
@@daisyveronique3439 Lots of dudes disagree with it and believe it looks unprofessional. Generally, a lot of combat arms guys will shun the longer hair and say it looks unprofessional.
Marines are supposed to be the best why is this training so preschool😂😂😂😂😂
Canada doesn’t have a Marine Corp. You mistook the French translation for Navy as Marines.
Don’t worry I also fell victim to that and a personnel corrected me. So now you should also correct anyone who makes the same mistake
We don't have a marine corps like the US or other nations. Marine is French for navy...
Oh yes Americas plan z
Canada has a military? What a joke. I’d rather move to Russia
Russias military is worse
lol please, tell us about it when you’re there
Lmao i could do this shit easy af but your recruiters screwed yall out of someone that has been taught by a csor operator guess who taught me everything yall taught him physically im in better shape then most of the regular forces but yall couldnt be honest about simple things. *You're not CSOR trained.*
*You're some soft wuss on the internet criticizing people trying to serve their country.*
