this is literally the answer to my prayers!!!! I love Reaper for what it can do...many features I've wanted from Pro Tools for YEARS, but since I've used Pro Tools for over 20 years in a full production facility, I ran into the exact same challenges as you! I gave Reaper an HONEST try, and it was painful having to constantly switch tools over and over...and even though I LOVED the incredible things Reaper was capable of, I HAD to switch back to Pro Tools because it was honestly just plain faster. But in the back of my mind, I was wishing somebody could do this exact thing!!!! Thank you so much! I can't wait to try it out!!!! Such a great New Years gift!
Very impressive! I'm a noob in Reaper, and have used PT for about 5 minutes in total, but this really is a great POC (Proof Of Concept) showing that PT can be replaced. PT can keep it's darned subscriptions and USB dongles, that shouldn't be the industry standard, Reaper should be! 😀
Yes!!! I am Reaper user but I've seen my friends in different studios using PT and I wanted to try to implement the PT editing flow into Reaper because it looks very intuitive and faster just from the factory :P Thank you for your work bro and greetings from Poland! :D
Even though I am a studio one user, what you did there is amazing buddy! I have never used protools to be honest but what amazed me is that all the things that excited you about reaper and all the things you made reaper do to simulate protools are all done natively in studio one! Which kind of made me understand how so many protools guys were able to switch to studio one. Of course it goes without saying that reaper can probably do even more since it seems such a powerful software but still kudos to you. I wish I knew even a quarter of your knowledge when it comes to scripting

Hi, I'm using Reaper since 2005/2006 and I love it. It's my favorite multitracks recorder. I'm using a Behringer Wing for mixes and some video tracks for lyrics and some playback tracks.
@JeffLynnGuitar the easiest way is reinstall reaper an when you import my file only check color themes that way you're only importing the look and not anything else
nice! As a long term reaper user (and occasional pro tools user) 21:44: this one is quite inconvenient. In reaper there is "ripple edit" (per track or global) for that.
Very good video. A bit so quick here and there, but all in all very informative. I use Reaper to record and edit because it's very very easy and intuitive. Even the plugins are really good! But I don't like to mix with it because I find that the volume or panning curves are not so smooth like in Cubase (which I use to do the task). Another is the MIDI editor, I still prefer Cubase's, but slowly I am getting accustomed to Reaper's.
As someone who has only ever used Reaper and honestly doesn't understand why you'd use PT outside of legacy reasons, I don't know why I watched this, but it was very interesting. Honestly it's another gold start for Reaper's fantastic capability. I also realized that if I tried to pick up Pro Tools tomorrow I'd probably want to put my head through a wall within half an hour. I think I'll not do that, then, eh? ;)

That's why all Hollywood TV and movies pretty much use protools.. Because it's bad? It's fast af if you're a professional and know what you are doing... Yes. I started out with premiere for a couple of years but then switched to resolve in less than a week and never went back I've been using resolve for quite some time now
I am wondering about the pro tools editing modes that can also be very useful - shuffle, spot, slip and grid. I never used shuffle much but I use all the others and spot mode is great for manually replacing samples on the timeline.
Shuffle is the most useless thing ever. There's ripple editing i have it in the toolbar it is kinda like Shuffle but not really. Slip and grid are snapping in reaper you have the magnet icon on the toolbar also. For the spot you can double click on the clip to open properties an put the exact location you want the clip to move to
@@danielkharrat Thanks for the tips! I agree that with most workflows that shuffle is useless and dangerous for new users (and can cause accidents for experienced users) but I have used it often to insert time in the beginning of the session or to precisely paste something on a track, obeying the grid (using a region that has a precise length) and have everything else shifted to the right - alternating shuffle and grid mode in Pro Tools can be a good creative tool. I have also used it to comp whole band takes, to alter the form of the original recording (i.e., add another chorus or a repeated section for fade out) - specially when the recording is not done to a metronome and grid. Shuffle is also very useful for spoken word editing - removing false starts, noises, etc. I just keep it on and select/delete. great info, but terribly stressing edits......do you have a version of this video without the stressy edits between clips? I can´t watch without wanting to blow my head off......I did set it to 75% speed , but you sound like you had smoked 50 kg of the best moroccan weed ever, but suddenly get´s a hit of crack in the edits 😹😹😹😹😹😹😹
well...you might sit through a 2 hour long video but most people wont, so i will always keep it as short as possible :)
@@danielkharrat yeah, I would actually. your content is great, no need to stress it
its not superior to nuendo
Arguable.
well... that is in the eye of the beholder.
@@HR2635 agreed
hands down.. can’t compare. check the stats
@austinnichols3557 depends on the stats. If you look at cpu efficiency and runtime stability, and configurabilty, Reaper wins hands down.
If you look at atmos readiness and high-quality graphics in its stock plugins, neuendo wins (I own both. I reach for reaper almost everytime)
PRO TOOLS WILL CONTINUE TO BE SUPERIOR, JUST SAY YOU DIDNT KNOW YOUR SHORTCUTS LMAOOO 😂😂😂😂😂
@envisagefilmshouston this shows that you missed the entire point of the video my friend
Brother, it's not and it never has been. This video quite literally proves that.
@@danielkharrat I’m jk bro. Reaper is just as good or even better. 💯
I know there are a lot of Reaper users/fans here but just to press a button, it resulted to an uglier looking pro tools 🤣
You are not wrong! Reaper looks horrendous but there are features that put Avid to shame. Check it out and help me yell at Avid to do better.
I think reaper is much better looking than other daws.
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder
@@AlexPettyMusic I agree. I like it's sleek, smooth look. Every time I see a Pro Tools window, I recoil in disgust. How in 2025 does it still look like a program from 2005 running on a modern OS?
@@ThatBeTheQuestion 100% agreed!!
Whatever you do reaper looks a little ugly
it looks effective to me. Also there are mny nice themes out there if you want a protools or cubase look.
