    In this snowboard review video I'm testing out the 2017 Bataleon Magic Carpet snowboard. The Magic Carpet is a decent snowboard for carving and has a playful feel with what Bataleon calls a "powder twin" shape. The biggest highlight for me on this snowboard is its 3 dimensional base shape called 3BT, or triple base technology. This shape helps the board float in powder and also creates a very catch free ride. The 3BT is so catch free that I was inspired to share a few of the butter tricks you may have seen or asked about in previous review videos in a little more detail. A lot of these butters build off of other tricks so make sure to watch the 10 butter tricks to learn first video:

    Dude, I love watching these videos. The only way you get better at riding is to ride with people better than you. And to be honest, where I live, (East Coast) most riders here are transient, not many mountains and the skill base is nowhere near the midwest boys. So it can be hard to learn new things if everyone I ride with is always on the Green Slopes. But, these videos really help me figure out what kind of rider i want to be.
    Thanks SnowboardProCamp.

    I find with the bataleon 3BT I’m almost “searching” for the edge- so it works against me in butters. I’ve gone back to the standard camber twin profile, and I find I’m much more in control throughout the maneuver.

    Can you do a video on in depth visual detail on the difference between CAB, Frontside, and backside. Just generally all the terms your using. It just would be good have a frame of reference to visualize! Not sure if you have already done a similar video, but it would be very appreciated!:)

    last year was my first season. started learning butter on the last day of the season. 1st started with Kevin's video then moved to a few with Tj. It looked so intimidating to me at that time and I wonder when could I start to ride like you folks LOL. Then during the offseason, this is what I figured out and hope it could be of help to others as well shorturl.at/muGL3

    • @markanderson5783
      @markanderson5783 7 лет назад +1

      board* haha
      but it does pretty well! the edges hold great and the flex is nice. it floats in powder if you ever get the chance but in ice it'll be really fast and the edges should hold so carving will be easy and fun!

    • @halfcabmelanchol
      @halfcabmelanchol 7 лет назад +2

      I haven't ridden a magic carpet, but I do have a dozen boards. I'm gonna have to disagree. Softer boards do HORRIBLY on ice, if you ride at an icy resort go with something stiffer or better yet go with a lib-tec or gnu with magne traction. Those wavy edges cut through ice reaaaly well.

    • @BoardArchive
      @BoardArchive 7 лет назад +2

      With sharp edges it would be okay, but if you are mainly going to be riding in icy conditions I would highly recommend a snowboard with Magne Traction. Some brands to check out would be Lib Tech, GNU, Rossignol, Niche, and Jones

    • @gavares3
      @gavares3 5 лет назад

      @@halfcabmelanchol I was going to say, with that curve on the bottom of the board, I feel like you would have to lean harder into your turns to really hold that edge since the curve increase the surface are tangentially. Regardless, I bet that board is super fun, I ride a jones ultra mountain twin, so I have never ridden anything like this board.

    • @ronmurphree2700
      @ronmurphree2700 5 лет назад

      Board Archive totally agree...I have a gnu with magma-traction and a much softer flow. When it’s icy the gnu holds its edges so much better. The flow board is soft and easy to butter but only when the snow is decent. I would think this battalion board would spin out on ice like we have most of the time in the east

  • @wethdtdi
    @wethdtdi 7 лет назад

    Hello, im like the average nerd on the slopes and i want to start doin some tricks .. but when i start riding, the thought that i have to spin while im riding is making me freez... Its like i know ill fell down and my body doesnt want to do what my heart wants.. haahaha So, actually my question is : is it easier if you ride faster or you can just as "easy" do it when you ride slowly ? And must i be verrry good at switch riding or i can get away with it if i just know how to stop switch?

    • @patrickmcintosh3173
      @patrickmcintosh3173 7 лет назад

      Force yourself to ride switch for 2 entire days. Use the chairlift and everything switch. It will make your progression of everything so much faster. Bottom line you can practice butters before learning switch, but your progression will be incredibly slow. Also, slower is generally easier to learn butters, but don't do it at a snail's pace cause that almost starts making it harder.

      Yeah, sadly all those models are Out of stock at the moment.
      I guess it was the previous model. And they replaced it for some reason on the front. Which is kinda a mistake in my opinion. All the more so as, the two "stripes" on the front are not black&white anymore, but only black in the available models.
      A shame. Yours looked much cooler :/

    Hey I was wondering if anybody has tried the magic carpet/lobster floater on rails/jumps? I can get a lobster random addition 2017 for a decent price which is basically the prototype for the lobster floater/magic carpet but I am unsure if it will be ok on presses/rails/jumps due to the rather narrow twin pow 3BT :/

      Joe Matroni nollie: pop off the nose of your board. backside: rotation with your back facing down the slope first. cab: rotation from weaker stance. butter: trick with presses. switch: weaker stance.

      Don't wear it in your pants that tend to be loose and can twist into an odd position during a fall. Wear it in a chest pocket that will be a bit more snug. Face the screen toward your pec, since the meat will cushion it a bit as well. Usually you aren't likely impact onto your chest as you are your butt, hips, or knees.

      It's products aren't bad, the problem is they lead a big part of the market, and because of that they make exclusive stuff. You can only use Their expensive board with their expensive bindings. Brands like bataleon don't, you can combine it with whatever You want. Also I don't think that Burton boards ride good enough in comparison with other brands to compensate these problems. (But can't judge over that bc i've never owned a burton, that's just according to my friends)

    • @Alex-kp2if
      @Alex-kp2if 7 лет назад

      Matt Smith yeah i do own socks from Burton. But I'm talking about the boards and bindings. You're better of buying those at a shop with advice and they're expensive af there

    • @Alex-kp2if
      @Alex-kp2if 7 лет назад

      Matt Smith lobster is same as bataleon with a touch of their own and other designs. I own the bataleon evil twin and i can tell you the 3bt is really nice (just as featured in this vid). Also what is wrong with only buying their socks? Is that another unwritten rule that I dont get that you can't wear Burton without owning their board or what xD?

      I have an Ultrafear and ride it all over the mountain, it turns easily when you want it too. I had a Magic carpet which is billed as a Powder board, I hated it and got rid of it quick, i couldn't ride it on a cat track, it lost its wax in 2 days the Ultrafear lasts a week. If I could only have one snowboard for the rest of my life it would be the Capita Ultrafear
